After leaving the ice cream shop, Damian took Evelyn to a jewelry shop. His eyes scanned the different necklaces on display and they suddenly landed on a blue sapphire which immediately caught his attention. He thought, for a fact, it would look good on his little pet. Signaling to the seller secretly… he arranged with him to have it sent to his address. After making the payment, his brows furrowed, he was confused by his own actions. When did he become so soft and even bought gifts for a woman? His eyes landed on Evelyn who was busy gawking at the diamond rings inside the display glass cabinet and he knew why. Her. She was changing him. Because of her, he could openly flirt and talk more than he usually would. She was like the sun illuminating light into his dark life. Walking over to her, he leaned next to her ear and whispered. “Let’s go. Or do you want me to buy you a ring?” Evelyn jumped in alarm, feeling startled. But his words rang loudly in her head. “No… why would
Three days later. Damian had received a report that some drug dealers were sneaking drugs into City A. He had briefly left Evelyn at the club to deal with the situation. City A was his territory. Damian was determined to wipe out every drug dealer that was tainting the City. His dream was to have a drug-free City. He hated drugs and that was why whenever he heard of such a case, he would personally lead the mission to catch the dealers and punish them accordingly. He believed those who went against his rules and still dealt with drugs deserved to be punished severely and imprisoned for the rest of their life. After dealing with the drug dealer who refused to speak about the person backing him, Damian and Jack were ready to go back to the club. Damian suddenly recalled that he was supposed to take Evelyn for a candlelight dinner. 'I've been so caught up with finding the drug dealer that I almost forgot about our date.' He instructed his driver, Mr. Jones. "Take me to the
Evelyn rubbed her hands together to keep warm while waiting for the driver to arrive. She kept glancing at the road to check if the cars passing by were her ride. It had taken longer than expected, she wondered if she should have waited inside the club instead. Not being able to take it anymore, she took out her phone and called Mr. Jones. "How far?" She asked the moment the call went through. "I'm so sorry Miss Evelyn. I am stuck in traffic. Looks like there's an accident ahead and it's a one-way road. Just be patient with me a little bit and I'll be there." Evelyn internally groaned in frustration. Her feet were killing her since she wasn't used to wearing such high heels. 'I better go wait in Damian's office or I'll freeze to death.' She was about to turn and head back inside when someone suddenly approached her from nowhere, making her jump in alarm. "Ahhhh!" She placed a hand on her chest in an attempt to calm down. "I'm sorry Miss. I didn't mean to startle you."
Evelyn was shaken to the core. The child’s death was not something she anticipated. Everything happened as if in slow motion. The bad man slit the child’s throat and Mike removed another gun from behind his pants and shot him in the middle of his eyebrows. “Ahhhh!” A scream tore through Evelyn’s throat. She clamped her hands over her mouth as tears welled up in her eyes. This scene was all too terrifying. She just witnessed two people being killed in front of her for the first time in her life. The dangerous encounter made Evelyn jump out of her skin. She couldn’t fathom how these people could easily kill a person without remorse. After snapping out of her dazed state, she rushed to the child lying on the cold hard ground and held him in her arms. Her heart broke seeing the young promising life that was stolen away by a selfish bad man. At that moment, she regretted feeling sorry for him. ‘I should have let Damian’s men deal with him. He deserved it.’ She muttered to hers
Damian had been looking forward to the date with his kitten. After taking a shower, he went to the hall to take a final look around to make sure everything was perfect and would be to her liking. Although he didn’t realize it himself, he was working extremely hard to impress Evelyn. At the thought of Evelyn’s cute expression when she saw what he did to the place, the corners of his lips curved into a smile. The bodyguards around him shared secret looks when they saw their ruthless boss acting like a young boy in love. What frightened them the most was seeing Damian smile to himself like a fool. They had noticed the slight changes in him ever since Evelyn came into his life so they treated her with respect knowing she was special to Damian. Even though he denied it. Damian was enjoying a glass of wine when the door to the hall opened and Evelyn strode in. His heart soared but soon, his face fell when he saw how she looked. He felt his heart race, worried that something may
Evelyn felt better after pouring out her heart to Nina. After deciding to apologize to Damian, she felt better and her mood was lifted. “So, is there a hot guy that you can introduce to me?” Nina asked excitedly. Ever since she heard that Evelyn had been taken by the Mafia, she had been itching to pay her a visit and take the chance to look for her own prince charming. She wanted a boyfriend from the Mafia so much that it was all she could think about these past days. Now since Evelyn was here, she would not pass on the chance to ask her to hook her up with someone. Evelyn rolled her eyes. “They are dangerous Nina. Are you sure that’s the type of boyfriend you want?” “Yes. Bad boys are my type.” Nina squeaked. “Doesn’t Damian have a friend or a right-hand man?” Evelyn sighed. Nina was too persistent there was no way she would let her sleep if she didn’t get what she wanted. “He does. His name is Jack.” Nina jumped on the bed excitedly. “Tell me more about him. Is he handsome
Evelyn didn’t know what came over her. It was not like Damian and her were an item. Yet, she felt herself feeling extremely jealous when she saw him with another woman. A lump formed in her throat at the sight, making it hard to swallow. Seeing Damian like that unexpectedly hurt her very much. Her heart dropped and her stomach twisted painfully. To make matters worse, he didn’t stop what he was doing or acknowledge her presence. It seemed she had been reading into things a little too deeply. She wasn’t special to him. They were just bound together by a pet contract. Hence, she had no right to feel jealous or get upset. This was a fact that Evelyn knew too well and she couldn’t fathom why she felt weird in her chest. Her chest felt so heavy like a huge mountain had been pressed down on it. When she left the club, her mind was cluttered with thoughts. The scene in the office kept replaying in the forefront of her mind like a broken record. Each time she thought about it,
“Damian, we are set for tomorrow's event. I’ll make sure to identify those who are secretly trading drugs.” Jack said as he sat across from Damian in his office. There was a party the following day for the socialites in the City. But it wasn’t a simple party. On the surface, it looked like a group of people gathering to talk about charity and wealth but it was secretly some sort of a black market where illegal things were sold. Damian’s Mafia gang had gotten wind of some suspicious movements from his rivals. Not everyone was happy with his banning of drug trafficking so other Mafia were trying to overthrow his rule so they could bring drugs into his territory and make more money. As a child, Damian had to witness his father, Gerald Hill lose himself because of drugs. He had become a lost cause and ended up selling his own son to the previous Mafia boss to pay for his gambling debts. Back then, Damian would go through the trash and collect scrap metal to sell and buy food since h
