CHAPTER 9: MEETING TANNER ~ Harper's POV~ Gabriel left me standing with this guy in the middle of the dining hall. His sudden departure left me feeling cold. I understand his need to do other things. CHAPTER 10: MAKING ENEMIES ALREADY~ Harper’s POV ~I randomly glanced toward the corner of the dining hall, back toward the stairway. There was a tall girl standing with two other girls who had their backs facing me. The tall girl, however, was drilling holes into my skull. She had blonde hair that was straight and shoulder length in color. Her skin was slightly tanned, it made her look like she was fresh from the beach. CHAPTER 11: MY NEW LIFE~ Harper’s POV ~My room wasn’t huge, but it was the perfect size for me. The walls were beige with thick white crown molding. The carpet beneath my feet was white, soft, and fluffy. I made a mental note to always take my shoes off at my door. There was a modern bedside table with a lamp and clock positioned neatly on top. My bed was full sized, with white crisp and clean linens neatly placed making the bed look newly made. Housekeepers must have freshened things up. I hope they don’t bother themselves every day. CHAPTER 12: I HAVE TO CHOOSE A MATE~ Gabriel's POV ~I was awakened to a firm knock on my bedroom door. I groaned and rolled over to check my clock. It said 9:00am. Rubbing my face with both hands, my groggy vision was seeming to get clearer. There was another knock on my door. Rolling myself out of bed, I slipped on a pair of sweatpants. CHAPTER 13: THE HAG IS HERE~ Gabriel’s POV ~I decided not to argue with him. I still didn’t know how well Harper could handle herself on the field. I can’t be confident in her abilities until I see for myself. “You know something I don’t,” Tanner said while looking at me suspiciously. I am not playing this game again with Tanner. CHAPTER 14: ENDING WHAT NEVER WAS~ Gabriel’s POV ~Before she was out of sight Tanner started up on me. “Gabe! When did you two become official?” “We are not official; I just didn’t want to embarrass her by pushing her away. I wish she hadn’t kissed me here. I told her we would take things slow and see where it went.” I said deflated. I rubbed my face with my hands to try to relieve some stress. CHAPTER 15: RESIST THE URGE~ Harper’s POV~ I followed Tanner to a clearing in the back of the pack house. It was a large private clearing with lush green grass and lots of workout equipment positioned all around. Pack members were situated around the field stretching and doing warmups. There was a clearing in the middle of the field that was obviously dedicated to sparring matches. Tanner looked at me and spoke. “So, what do you think? You will find workout equipment all around the field. There should be just about any type of equipment that you would need. In the middle you will find the sparring arena. Water fountains are placed all around as well as areas where you can find cooling towels if you get hot. The restrooms are back near the packhouse doors. There, you will also find a shaded area if you need to sit for a minute.” Tanner continued, leading the way all around the field. CHAPTER 16: HE’S AN HONEST GUY~ Harper’s POV ~Knowing that Gabriel ended things with Samantha made me feel a little giddy. But I am very uncomfortable with the way that it all happened.
