Chapter 12

Roman's POV

I stared at the amber liquid in the glass. It’s been years since I decided to use a glass. Usually, I just grabbed the bottle and drank until I fell asleep. These days it took several bottles to give me a buzz, let alone inebriate me.

Just like the night before, I couldn’t get Jane out of my head, nor the look in her eyes when I told her I wanted to remove the mark. I doubted it was the potential pain of the removal that bothered her. She truly didn’t want to be a werewolf, and I had no idea why…a part of her was missing, and it had to be excruciating, I couldn’t see how it wouldn’t be.

As a Lycan, I could suppress the full moon shift, but the pain of it was nearly unbearable, and I only did it when I absolutely had to. How she could live through it month after month, year after year, without going out of her mind was mind-boggling.

Unable to sleep, I put the whiskey aside and left my rooms, fully intending to go outside for a run. It would do me the world of good. I co
