Chap_2. Perfect Match

It was the last meeting for the day and after that, Eden was back real quick to her place. It was a Friday night and one of her best friend, Brenda's birthday. She was expecting to spend a great time with her crew at the nightclub, Red Rose. But when standing in the line for almost an hour in front of the nightclub and still it didn't get them to enter there, she lost her patience and glared at Brenda, "Why out of all the places you have to choose this club for tonight?"

Brenda didn't mind her look anyway as she answered dreamily, "Because honey, this is the only place where Adrian, the hottest DJ is supposed to show up today. And obviously, I can't miss this chance, right?"

"Yeah, right." Eden hardened her look though she knew she was just wasting her energy.

"Relax, Edie. Let her be. It's her birthday after all." Cassandra, the other one of her best buddies tried to calm her down.

Eden knew the reason for their celebration and she was happy that her mind wasn't jammed with unnecessary thoughts. But still...

She stirred to life again with irritation, "Look at the line. Will we even be able to get in today?"

"Edie, keep patience, dear. We will be in no minute." Brenda showed her all bright face getting Eden to sigh. Their waiting of no minute took them almost another hour and then they were finally able to get in there and strangely they were able to find a table too.

Like always their conversation led to the handsome DJ who was playing the songs and at some point, Brenda walked to the dance floor. Cassandra and Eden kept gossiping while sipping their drinks until Eden got up saying she needed to go to the washroom.

Taking another glance at the dance floor, Eden walked on her way thoughtlessly.

Then all of a sudden, she bumped into something hard yet warm. Her thinking process also got disturbed. And then after a millisecond, she felt something icy on her belly. That chilly feeling forced her eyes to look down where she noticed a large, reddish stain on her blouse, going down to her pants as well.

Someone had splattered his or her drink on her clothes. Her eyes widened to their full length. In a panic state, she started rubbing her hands against the fabric as if this would remove the mark. Not only the mark didn't go away, but it spread besides making both of her hands gluey.

Great! Just Great! She muttered under her breath in annoyance. Though she hadn’t worn this piece of cloth many times, it was now ruined for life already. What a waste of money!

"Watch it." A rude and arrogant mannish voice pulled her out of her moment of grief. She drew her brows together and looked up.

The creases between her brows deepened even more as soon as she caught the sight of the owner of the voice. It was Damien.

His brows slightly lifted up in astonishment, "Oh, it's you, I see."

In three piece, dark, formal tux, Damien looked debonair and mesmeric. The brunette hair was perfectly combed back, favoring her to get a full view of his bright face.

He was standing two step away from her, but still, she could smell his strong musk perfume. The rare bluish iris sparkling in amusement as Damien smirked. Damien really knew how to get girls' attention. Eden thought.

His greek god look and virile physique would trigger the female hormones in any woman and get them drooling over him. There and then Eden realized why the female population adored him. But strangely, she was an exception much to Damien's surprise.

Shrugging off, she turned to her stained dress once again, and then she looked up as she glared at him, "It was your fault."

"You were just lost in whatever thoughts, Ms. McBride." Damien reasoned. He knew he was at fault partially at least but there was no way he would admit that. Few words didn't exist in his dictionary and sorry was high up on the list. Plus he was pissed off at her as well. His father was after him with his nonsense idea just because of this girl.

Eden was angry that her expensive top was stained because of Damien, but she couldn't get herself snapping at him again because firstly, her job was concerned here and secondly, she felt inferior in his presence.

Though it was so unlikely of her to compare herself with others still, it bothered her this time. She was looking so plain, so ordinary as compared to his sophisticated outer personality. A barbie looking girl stood beside Damien, locking arms, she spoke up seductively, "Baby, let's go."

Damien's gaze was still lingering on her face with a frown on his face. Shrugging off, Eden turned to the girl. Damien wasn't lying when he said he didn't like her. The girl beside him was exactly the opposite of her in every way. And just one thought crossed her mind for them, "Perfect Match."

Was she his girlfriend? Eden thought for a moment. If yes, then why was he bothering to search for another girl! Whatever,it shouldn't be her concern. Eden thought and walked away.

Her wet, sticky fabric was giving her chills every time it touched her bare skin underneath and Eden was hating it more than anything now.

As soon as Eden was out of their sight, Damien turned to the girl who was holding his arm, and the next moment, the girl left it avoiding the daggers, he sent at her way.

Damien made his way upstairs to the VIP lounge where his crew was waiting for him.

After trying to wash off the stain in a futile attempt, Eden spent some time in the washroom. And then with a heavy heart for wasting the dress and angry mind, she was back to her table.

Though there was no parting tonight anymore for her, she couldn't just leave without letting her friends know. Just sending a quick text to Cassandra or Brenda didn't seem to be a good idea to her. After all, Brenda was celebrating her birthday and she would be hurt.

By the time, she was at their table, Brenda was done with her dance and was now with Cassandra.

Seeing her, Brenda parted her lips to say something but closed with no word out when she caught the sight of her dress and her angry face. Cassandra took the charge of asking instead, "What happened?"

Eden stood in front of them."Just got it ruined. Anyways, just as you can see, I am heading home. You guys continue."

Eden barely took a step out of the club before Cassandra and Brenda trailed behind. "Let's go to your place. Aunt Eva must have prepared me a cake." Brenda said when Eden turned to them.

Before she could convince her for doing otherwise, she was already walking by the road. Smiling at them, Eden said nothing then. Taking a taxi, they made their way to her place and as they thought, a cake was already prepared and the small dining table was decorated likewise.

Though Evangeline thought Brenda would visit their place, she didn't expect them this early. Nonetheless, she was happy. Seeing Eden's frowning face and the condition of her dress, she gave her a questioning look.

In response, Eden made an annoyed face. She just smiled at her, "Go, change."

Sighing, Eden nodded and left for the room. Except for the matter with her dress, the night went pretty well. Brenda praised Evangeline's cooking skills every two minutes.

The topic of their future bakery shop remained in the air for a good long time and Eden was happy to be able to keep it like that. The words of Clarke about marrying Damien were past now and she couldn't be more relieved.

~~

After spending a fabulous weekend with her family and friends, Eden was in the office on Monday at sharp 8 in the morning.

For some reason, Clarke didn't show up today and much to her surprise, Damien was there when she entered the cabin with his schedule details.

When Damien behaved just professionally with her and attended everything, Clarke was supposed to attend, she wondered if Damien had already taken over the company.

Though she thought there would be a program for new CEO joining or something, she didn't care much as long as her job was secured here.

When she was done for the day and went to Damien's cabin to let him know she was leaving, she didn’t think a not so pleasant surprise was waiting for her.

Entering the cabin, before she could say something, Damien gestured at the chair across him, "Take a seat."

Nodding at him, Eden sat and looked up as he heard Damien saying, "It's for you."

A shopping bag from Nicci was placed there on the desk in front of her. Confused as Eden asked, "For me?"

"Yeah. That night your dress was spoiled." Damien said all casually. Eden waited for him to say sorry or something but when she didn't see it coming, she thought of saying that if it was his seeking apology, then he was failing terribly at it and she wasn't going to accept this dress or something that might be worth almost all of her paycheck of a month at the very least.

But her words didn't get the chance to be voiced out as Damien spoke up cutting her off. His words were nowhere near her anticipation and it took her for a dead silence....
