*VANCE’S POV* In the dead of the night, another pain hit both Sianna and me. This one was searing but ended quickly. Another one had died seconds ago, his death swift. I scanned through the pack link to see if I could find anyone who could be a suspect in the recent murder, but nothing. Their thoughts were clean. No doubt that the killer had military instincts. Sianna groaned, but thankfully she wouldn’t have to endure much of the painful loss. I looked down at her and kissed her forehead. She threw her hands around me and slept. This was her way of telling me to stay in bed with her. I let the allure of her scent vaporize into my nostrils to appease me. I brushed my lips over her neck, wanting to feel the mark I gave her. *SIANNA'S POV* This morning, Vance and I had breakfast together. I slipped into one of his T-shirts and headed to the kitchen. I was able to get up at four in the morning to make his favorite. He was already gone when I woke up most mornings, so I hardly ever had a chance to feed him. Due to the wily attack on his soldiers, it was expected that he was stressed out. I truly wished that I could do more to assist, so when he asked me to console the family, I was more than happy to oblige. Bonding with the grieving family and demonstrating to them that we care, and will honor him for his service and dedication. There was wailing in every conversation. Understandable, I can only imagine the grief. This was fine with me because I was his Luna, and working with my mom at the hospital had put me in this tragic situation before, where breaking the bad news to the family presented itself. *SIANNA'S POV* The club was buzzing, and we kept bumping into people everywhere. When we couldn't find the birthday girl, we went up to the VIP area on the balcony while keeping our eyes peeled for her. Everyone here was a werewolf, and when they noticed us, they all bowed and let us pass. I kept grinning and nodding in pleasantries till my jaw felt tired. We saw our friends and went over to talk to them. My cheeks were truly sore. Nicole's face lit up as she noticed us and motioned with her hands for us to come over, meeting us halfway. Her arms encircled mine and Hailey's as she positioned herself between us. She led us over to the u-shaped booth sofa seating where we took our seats among the others. “It’s the old crew hanging out again.” Carmen’s grin spread wide across her face. “ It is so great to have us all here for my birthday.” Nicole cheered. “Happy birthday,” we both greeted her almost at the same time. *SIANNA’S POV* Tears blocked my vision, and I knew that my mate’s arms were around me as I stayed crumbled on the hospital floor. He wipes my wet eyes but more tears poured down, nothing could end the waterfall. He pats my head and whispers comforting words but not even the mate bond could subdue the overwhelming pain of my loss. Hailey had died. At least that’s what mom told us. Then why can’t I believe her? How did this happen? Who would hurt my Hailey? This was surreal. My surroundings slowly vanished and I felt like this was a dream. We were just together a few hours ago. *UNKNOWN POV* Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck! I hurled the chair against my apartment's wall and stared at the broken bits on the ground. Briskly, I started to pace back and forth, nervously chewing my fingers. Frustrated with resentment, disappointment, and fury. Hailey simply had to ruin my well-laid plans with her obnoxious nature. *SIANNA’S POV* Vance slept in bed late with me this morning. The rain from yesterday kept us both at home for the entire day. He stayed to pamper me because I had fainted at the hospital. You know, the whole Hailey passing away ordeal. Lying in bed with the pit patter of the raindrops had me in a deep slumber in no time. I had no idea when he fell asleep. I observed his handsome face as he slept. I trailed my index fingers along his hairless chest and incredible abs, not being able to resist. He flinched as we both enjoyed the sparks. He wasn't sleeping but kept his eyes closed. Not only that, but he could be thinking about the on-goings of the pack lately, and the person who was trying to hurt me. I could not detect anyone who would hate me that much. I lived amiably with everyone and didn't intrude into people's personal space.
