Selfish attitude

Roman sat down at the other end of the counter, turning his head so that his eyes were looking up at her. He had a soft smile on his face and she was unable to avoid smiling back.

She loved when he smiled like that. It made her feel warm inside. It brought back memories of simpler times that she wished she could forget.

When they were both young and in love. When things between them weren’t complicated or hard to work through.

Before everything had gone so wrong and they were separated by miles upon miles of ocean. Before they had even met.

“So…what happened?” he asked hesitantly.

“What do you mean?”

“Well last night was kind of weird…and today isn’t exactly the best situation either, so what happened last night that has you so upset?”

“Don’t worry about it,” she mumbled.

“It doesn’t look like you want to talk about it,” he pointed out.

“And honestly, I think it would probably make you feel better if I knew what was going on. We don’t know each other that well yet…we hardly know
