CHAPTER SIX

Healing Aric observed as the human's face became white in response to what he said.

He ought to have been more mindful that she was not accustomed to following instructions, but this was a skill that she would need to acquire rapidly.

He reiterated, pointing to the chair, "I said sit down and take off your top," but she did not budge from where she was sitting.

As she moved to carry out his directions, she had a slight quiver in her bottom lip, and one of her shoulders hung lower than the other.

While seated, she began a futile attempt to pull her shirt up over her head, gritting her teeth and biting her lip as she strained to move her damaged arm.

Aric rushed to her aid after assessing the level of suffering she was experiencing, pleading with her to move quickly.

Even though he could see the terror written all over her face as he approached, he didn't give a damn. Because time was of the essence, he had to determine the extent of her wounds as quickly as possible.

He assisted her with the tiniest amount of care imaginable as she pulled her shirt over her head and off her useless arm.

When Aric looked at her from below, he couldn't help but notice her enormous breasts, which were held in place by her bra, and the smooth, creamy skin of her neck, which concealed an artery beating beneath it. If she weren't a human, he would be tempted to try her, and if he hadn't already eaten, he would most likely taste her. If she wasn't a human.

He got down on his knees and softly prodded her shoulder, feeling the looseness in the joint as he did so.

When he lifted her arm from her side, he questioned her by asking, "How does this feel?"

She gasped out the word "hurt" as the anguish made it nearly impossible for her to speak. "It hurts."

After receiving her nod, Aric got to his feet and moved away from her to go to the phone.

When he heard the response he was expecting, he asked the person on the other end of the phone to bring the veterinarian to his room.

"Fine," he hissed as he slammed the receiver down on the table.

Aric looked at his new pet and stated, "Well, it seems as though the veterinarian won't be able to make it here before daylight."

He repositioned himself so that he was standing next to her and grabbed her arm with one hand while resting the other hand on the back of her shoulder.

He threatened sternly, saying, "I'm going to reset your shoulder myself on three." "I need you to relax as much as possible," the speaker said.

His animal companion nodded and then clamped her eyes tight before doing so. As he started to count, he could feel her muscles working on releasing their grip as he did so.

"One, two," he said before jerking her arm first in one direction, then in the other, and feeling it slide back into place with a sickening pop. "One, two." "Three."

Aric took a step back to examine his accomplishment, completely ignoring the agonized scream that she let out.

Her shoulders did not appear to be rotated abnormally any longer, although a new layer of sweat had just formed on her forehead, and she appeared to feel queasy.

Aric, who could feel his power beginning to wane, looked at the time and noticed only fifteen minutes left till the sun crested the mountains. He knew that he needed to hurry before his body was forced to rest for the day and that he needed to get moving.

He was unsure whether or not his cat could clean herself, so he questioned her, "Can you wash?"

In response, the guy bowed his head and slowly stood up on unsteady legs.

Aric picked her up off the floor and carried her to the restroom because he could not ignore the excruciating pain she was barely managing to hide.
