DOMINIC. We spent the drive back home in very uncomfortable silence. Darvin refused to speak even when Lucas and I were trying to get him to talk and discuss the information we just received. He only spoke once, and it was final - he didn’t believe Celeste’s blood would cure him and he didn’t want to talk about it. We knew it would take a while before he could agree to it, so we just let him be. Maybe if Katarina and Sofia could talk to him, he would eventually give in. I dropped Lucas at the border of his territory, and he told us that he would just pick up Katarina and they would drive to the packhouse, but Darvin stopped him and told him they could visit tomorrow — that it was already late and he was sure Katarina would want time with Lucas. It was strange because it was still early, and Darvin never refused a visit from Katarina no matter what time it was. Lucas just gave me a look, and it was a silent understanding that something was up. He didn’t reply to Darvin, but he nodde
DARVIN. No one knew the turmoil within me except me and Titan. We were torn between the possibility of being alive and healthy versus putting Celeste at risk just to have this cure. I wanted so badly to stay and build a family with her, but the moment I saw her when I entered our bedroom, I knew right away that I could never find it in me to give her pain in that way. So I gave up and took the coward’s way out. I told her we were leaving. I was ready to leave everything behind, even my sisters, just to protect Celeste from any harm. I was sure I could survive with the humans until my time was up. But I guess I gave her less credit than she deserved. I might have given up, but not her. She was willing to sacrifice herself for me. And although I was still not up for it one hundred percent, I couldn’t deny that my heart skipped a beat at the way her face lit up when she realized there was a possibility of me extending my life span. Even if this was hard to accept, I would do anything
DARVIN. I woke up full of energy this morning. Titan wanted to run, so I gave in, and we spent an hour just running around the territory while Celeste was still sleeping. I felt good. In fact, this was the same energy I felt the morning after I marked Celeste in her apartment. I just thought by then it was the adrenaline from the mate bond that made me feel alive. But I guess Constantine was right — the blood of our mates was the missing piece to complete our wolves. I just hoped I wouldn’t end up taking more from her and that she would feel like I was just using her to survive. But if I could last two weeks without drinking and have the same energy I felt for the last two weeks after her marking, then maybe I didn't need to drink too often, and she would be in better condition than Constantine’s mate. I guess I had to wait and see. After my run, I requested to meet Dominic at my office. I just got into my chair when he knocked and stepped inside. We both nodded our heads to ackn
DOMINIC. Thirty minutes ago, I received a mindlink from Gamma Hayden that Darvin and Celeste had entered the border. This was unexpected. I was waiting until the end of the week to reach out to him, but it seemed like I didn’t need to. Darvin and Celeste left the territory a month ago after he declined my proposal. He told me he was ready to move on and that I should schedule my Alpha ceremony. But I wasn’t giving up yet. I asked for a month, for him to try living a human life. If his heart was in it, then I would let him go and take over as the sole Alpha of the Moon Stone Pack. I wanted to assume they were coming home for good and that Darvin had decided not to abandon his post, but I didn’t want to set any expectations, especially for Sofia. I didn’t want to crush her heart if Darvin rejected our proposition. Five minutes before the time I expected them to arrive at the packhouse, I knocked at Sofia’s office door and didn’t wait for an invitation to come in. I opened the door
SOFIA. Celeste and I stood on the grounds outside the council building while waiting for our Alphas to finish their meeting with Alpha Marco, the head of the Council. They submitted the document to formally add Dominic as the Alpha of the Moon Stone Pack, and Celeste and I decided to tag along. After Achilles was killed and his group of rogue wolves was disbanded, there were no more threats, so they were confident enough to take us with them, but of course, we were never left behind on our own. Watching us from just a few feet away were Beta Daniel and some of the men we took with us. "Wow! I wasn’t expecting to see you here today. Lucky me." Someone spoke behind me, and it made me and Celeste turn around. "Excuse me, are you speaking with us?" I asked as my gaze tried to remember if I met the man with amber eyes before. But I couldn’t remember him at all. Either I had never met him or he wasn’t really worth remembering. He laid out his hand, and I was sure he was meaning to take
DARVIN. I was in my office, and I had Dominic, Beta Daniel, and Gamma Hayden with me. We were talking about the new setup we had, as well as the possibility of getting a new beta and gamma. One for each Alpha. "Do we really need to choose?" Daniel asked before his gaze shifted to Hayden, who let out a sigh. "Well, we want both of you, but whoever you’re most comfortable with." "Well, I want both of you as my Alpha." "Me too," Hayden added. "Can’t you have the same Beta and Gamma so we don’t have to choose?" "It will be a lot of work for you both. There will be days that Darvin and I will not meet eye to eye, so it might be tedious. That’s what we were thinking." Dominic explained. "I can handle that," Daniel smirked. "How about we try first? I’m sure we’re not rushing to get a new one. Not that we don’t want another male to rise through the ranks, but Hayden and I have never had a problem with having two Alphas." "We still have one territory, one group of warriors. We just have
BETA DANIEL. "Give me some slack. I’m only nineteen. I have years ahead of me before I need to settle down." I chuckled as I walked side by side with the three Alphas and Gamma Hayden. We had just finished a short meeting and were heading off to the training grounds to continue a day’s work, but the Alphas still wouldn’t stop teasing me to man up and ask Lizzie for a date. "Well, with two Alphas to work with, I’m sure you would rather have a female to come home to every night." Alpha Lucas stated before he jabbed Hayden’s chest with the back of his hand. "You as well, go find someone." "Nope," Hayden answered right away. "I’m okay here. "I'm waiting for my mate unless Dr. Lizzie turns out to be a hot chick, in which case... I might reconsider." I would have growled at him in annoyance if something hadn’t hit my nose. The air suddenly smelled of fresh-baked waffles mixed with strawberries, and I found myself hungry and salivating. I spaced out for a moment until my wolf howled in
LUNA NADIA’S LUNA CEREMONY - SILVER MOON PACK CELESTE. "Are you okay?" Darvin reached for my hand and squeezed it gently as he stared at me. He just turned off the engine of his car, and we remained seated inside. We were outside the ballroom where Nadia would be inducted as the Luna of the Silver Moon Pack. And it meant I would be meeting all the Alphas and Lunas invited to the event. Katarina and Sofia assured me that there was nothing to be nervous about when I met the rest of the Lunas on Darvin’s Alpha Circle. They kept saying they were wonderful Lunas and would welcome me wholeheartedly. Sofia told me the first time she met them, she was just Dominic’s girlfriend, but they never made her feel inferior with the fact that they were all fated Lunas and she was just a 'chosen' one. It made me believe they were really welcoming and wonderful, but I still couldn’t stop my heart from thumping loudly. I am human. Maybe they would see me differently. But aside from my sisters-i
