04: Noel

A smirk was plastered on his face as he remembered how he had fooled Aurora, wondering how daft and stupid she was. It is clear that she will take a long time before she will recognize him, he can clearly see that.

Because he couldn’t understand how someone will as stupid as her not to recognize the person that she was trained to kill for years. For as long as he can remember and as James had told him, Aurora had began her training at the age of ten and her father made sure the entire hatred he had on him was passed to her during the training. “How did you do it?” James asked, taking a sit.

He had driven straight to Noel’s as soon as he dropped and helped Aurora unpacked, although he had to spend two hours on the way there. The road to the vampire’s clan always confuses him that he had to call Noel for direction. “I did nothing much, I only had to suppress my vampire scent and then act normal. Your cousin seems pretty much daft if you ask me.” Noel commented, passing James a class of cold wine while he took to his lips a glass of warm blood because he was slowly starving.

“Chill, I won’t suck the blood out of you.” He mocked when he saw how terrified James was. One thing for Noel is that he never comes for you, as long as the person hold the end of the deal, then the person is safe and shall be protected by Noel, it was a promise he had made to his accomplice.

James gulped down the rest of his wine, gently keeping the cup on the table and waited for what Noel will tell him next. “Although I want us to sit and talk about business, I have to say that you need rest. Gaby will take you to a room and we will talk in the morning.” He informed, clapping his hands and Gaby appeared into the office.

“Take him to the guest room.” He ordered. He held back a laughter seeing how fast James had became tipsy. Wines made for vampires will never be in favor of the werewolves, because as he grew up to know and see, the werewolves are nothing more than a weakling. “Oh James.” He called.

“Make sure that you stay within the room until I or Gaby come to get you. Or else, you will be someone’s dinner.” He warned but his voice gave him out as he later erupted into a series of laughter, scaring James more.

He waved his hands, with Gaby helping him out of the office while he returned to the desk, picking up the nearest file that his hands could get to. “Maybe I should get a new leader for the Pages and I think I have the perfect candidate for it.” He whispered, his tongue making a click sound as he began to draft a new contract.

As he waits for Gaby’s return, he unbuttoned his shirt while letting down the curtains. For a vampire like him, he doesn’t like seeing the moon as they reminded him of a particular person and he hates it with every vein in his body. He plucked a paper from the colored stacked sticky paper and scribbled on it while smirking. “We will see who will be the first person to back away from the war.” He grinned, folding the paper and at the same time, the door was opened by Gaby.

“Here, make sure that you secure an apartment there or else, return with the head of the owner.” He ordered, passing the folded paper to Gaby and at the same time, licking the side of his lips.

Gaby nodded his head then bowed a little before leaving. It is just twelve in the morning, yet he can’t sleep. No, he usually forces himself to sleep around one or three in the morning and well, he is happy with his sleeping schedules. “Time to head back to the room.” He uttered packing his stuffs and using the secret door that led to his chamber.

The structure of the mansion can’t be mastered in a day or night, hence why he had asked James to stay in his room until he or Gaby comes to get him, and he said that in a way that scared him off. “What a coward.” He breathed, dropping his shirt on the bed and headed straight to the bathroom. A nice bath will help him have a good sleep.

He immediately turned on the cold water then threw a red bath bomb that one of his maids had kept and he enjoyed using. The water instantly changed it color as he slipped into it. He closed his eyes, enjoying the peace that comes from been alone and that is not the only way he derive happiness or peace, killing his enemies and drinking their blood also makes him happy, more than anything in the world.

Mid way through the bath, he began to feel thirstier and his eyes began to change. He hissed, stepping out of the bath tub in his glory and walked to the arranged mirror case, retrieving a chilled blood jar. He poured a cup then gulped it down without any hesitation and then, went for the second round before his eyes turned back to their normal color and he went straight to the shower, washing away the soap from his body.

His slender fingers roamed around his body with his eyes closed, as he imagined how he would take Aurora’s virginity before killing her. “Toying with her won’t hurt really.” A voice said in his head, giving him the best idea that he needed.

Noel quickly stepped out of the shower and wrapped a towel around his waist then went to the closet, picking out a pajama and he wore it. He fell flat on his bed, with a grin on his face making him wonder why he is so happy.

---

It seemed like a move to Noel when he woke that morning and felt his back hurt more than anything. It was very much unusual and it only meant one time. Without wasting or more time, he picked the phone by the side of the bed calling in Gaby. “Be here in now.” He gritted.

In less than two minutes, Gaby rushed into the room panting. “You called for me King Noel.” He uttered then bowed to Noel who had his hand holding his back.

“Call in the witch to check me and stop distributing the blood gotten from the Pages.” He said out painfully and wincing.

Gaby brought out his phone, calling in a guard asking him to quickly bring in the witch then called another one, telling them to stop the distribution of the new blood gotten. “What happened?” Gaby asked, concerned when he saw how much in pain that the vampire king was in.

“The blood is infected and has to be sterilized or else, the life of those that are weak will be in danger.” He groaned out.

Most of the times, the blood bank attendees make sure that they sterilize the blood before it is distributed to avoid diseases been passed to the vampire’s. When the blood of human that is into hard drugs is given to a vampire, it is likely to do a bad harm to them and that it clearly what Noel is undergoing.

It mostly starts from the spine then spread out to the entire body and then, it slowly takes the life of the person. Hearing that, Gaby rushed out of the room, leaving Noel wincing in pain as he couldn’t hold it back. For years, he had not encounter something like that because cautious were always taken, now, he has to find out if the mistake is from Gaby or the blood bank attendees but one thing was for sure, he will make sure to badly punish the person at fault when he recovers and he is sure that should be later in the evening.

Gaby returned to the room with the witch trailing behind him. She was dressed in all black, holding a case that seems contain everything will need to treat him. With the help of Gaby, he turned to face the bed and a scented candle that the witch had lighted was arranged on his back, sucking out the poison.

He pressed his lips as he awaited for the witch to pierce that particular place with her needle and it didn’t take up to a minute when he felt Gaby sucking in a breathe beside him then he felt the needle pricking his skin, blood gushing out of it.

A clean towel was used to clean away the spilled blood and soon, Noel was back t normal but he was too dizzy to stand up. He watched as Gaby escorted the witch out then returned to tug him back into bed. When he wakes up, he will deal with the person behind the mistake. That was on his mind as he slowly closed his eyes, letting sleep engulfed him.
