MATE

The following day early morning, Rain was set to leave for Chicago. The Steel Howlers pack was in Chicago and this was his second last pack to visit. He only had two chances left to find his mate and if she wasn't in the Steel Howlers pack, he had to go to Silver Moon Pack immediately.

Beta Samuel decided to not tell anyone about their Alpha's absence till confirmed that he was already in Chicago. He could fake an emergency later and tell everyone how Alpha Rain couldn't find a chance to talk to them before he left.

A black Porsche truck was already a few steps away from the entrance of the pack house and Alpha casually walked out with a few omegas who took his suitcases. He was nervous and he couldn't figure out any reason for this sudden feeling.

It wasn't like him to feel nervous on such occasions when he had to look for his mate. It was something he got used to with time but today, he was extremely nervous.

He turned back to look at Beta Samuel who gave him an assuring nod. He would be away for days and he trusted that his beta would handle pack matters flawlessly.

He reminisced about the days when he trained harder under his father's guidance. His father, Sebastian Hilton was the previous Alpha of the Blue Moon Pack. Beside him, stood an outstanding Luna, Luna Cynthia Hilton who was also his mother. They were truthful leaders who led the lack with zero corruption and they had also induced a policy of 'equals'. They equivalently saw everyone and everyone got equal portions of resources.

There was no omega this, omega what. Every pack member lived a life they wished for, ate the food that pleased them, and traveled to places they wanted. They also had a shelter in their pack that welcomed everyone who needed a place to stay, including humans.

But still, even with all that done, their pack harbored hypocrites who staged an accident that killed his parents. Up until now, he still wondered how the driver survived without even a single scratch and his parents who were in the back seat lost their lives.

The same people he believed that they killed his parents, were the same people who declared that he was too immature to become an Alpha. They also pointed out how he was incapable of finding his mate ten years after his wolf awakening.

Rain wondered if his deceased parents were disappointed in him. He trained day and night, focused on improving himself as an Alpha of such a large pack but no matter how hard he worked, they still found him incapable.

Rain didn't notice that they were already at the airport in the human city until his driver acknowledged.

He exhaled silently, pushing aside the thoughts he had, and exited the car to get to the plane.

His nervousness continued as he inhaled and exhaled continuously. He looked at his hand watch and learned that he had less than thirty minutes to be on the plane so he hurried to check-in.

Rain was done checking in and took his seat in the business class. He sat casually and relaxed since it was a human city and no one recognized him as an Alpha of a large pack back in Canada.

In a moment of relaxation, Rain could inhale all the scents around him. One thing about humans, everyone wore different perfumes and it made him nauseous. He stood up to walk to the bathroom for a few minutes to help himself with these disturbing scents. Later, he could put on his mask for the rest of the flight.

Rain felt his heart thump in his chest and he was sure that he detected an unusual scent. He could feel his palms sweat from nervousness and he stood grounded halfway through his way to the restroom. He followed the scent to learn where it was coming from and he didn't want to think much or else he couldn't handle the disappointment later.

' Vanilla-mint scent! So addictive.' Rain's wolf mumbled at the back of his mind.

He knew how his wolf was bound to find a mate for them and that he could even mistake anyone to solve this. Handling this on his own could be less humiliating. Rain reasoned.

His feet moved on their own and he followed the scent that was becoming pleasingly strong and addictive. He halted his moves when his eyes locked with someone else's.

'MATE' his wolf confirmed and he suppressed him as he urged to take over.

Under those dark sunglasses, there were those eyes that looked at him with something indecipherable. Her hair was being blown slightly by the air from the slightly unlocked window.

' Throw. him. out.' his wolf stressed every word as he urged him to make the man seated beside his mate scram. How dare he?

Meanwhile, as Rain fought the urge to break the man into pieces and resisted the desperate wolf in his mind, the lady on the other side seemed displeased.

Earlier when their eyes met, she heard how her wolf claimed the man standing in front of her happily. The gusto her wolf had while acknowledging her as their mate was unmatchable.

There were no qualms about how her mate was breathtakingly handsome with that messy coffee-brown hair and sharp dark eyes. His sharp pointed nose and full pink lips, everything on him were fascinating but...

Was she willing to acknowledge this bond? She had always prayed to the moon goddess to grant her wish and delay her mate. She knew how one could let go of everything and focus on their bond and she couldn't think of putting her career aside to focus on her mate.

She was a popular fashion model and owned her jewelry line in Chicago. She had worked hard to get there and the thought of leaving it all behind made her insides churn in objection.
