It was an eight hours flight to Chicago and throughout the entire flight, Rain peeked at Ketra intently taking in every inch of her beauty.
Ketra made herself busy on her iPad that she picked up from the ground where it had fallen and even though she advised herself to concentrate countless times, she still couldn't. She was continuously stealing glances at Rain who shot her a captivating smile whenever their eyes met.
Initially, Rain had thought of exchanging seats with the man on Ketra's side but his wolf surmised how mate wasn't too amiable for now. Even Carter his wolf was yearning to meet Ketra's wolf but he slowed down and swallowed his hype. Mate was still in their reachable sight and they would convince her after landing. She didn't reject the bond immediately and that gave him sufficient time to convince her.
When they landed, Alpha Rain hurried but he was careful because they were in the human city and unnecessary speed would make everyone turn attention to them. He approached Ketra and attempted to hold her hand but she ignored him and left his hand hanging.
"You can't treat your mate like this. At least let's find a place and talk." Alpha Rain reasoned as he followed behind Ketra.
He could see how elegant and classy she walked. Her slender body especially her waist area and her small curves. She had long legs and he imagined how she looked in a short dress as she was in denim blue jeans at the moment.
She didn't wear expensive brands but she still looked gorgeous and classy in his eyes. With those shades on and her hair bouncing with the rhythm created by her steps, she appeared like a fashion model on a runway!
"Talk about what Mr. Rain? Even though I won't reject you, I won't accept you either." Ketra's statement made Rain's heart flutter. She won't reject him? That was a huge step so far but what about not accepting him?
"Why can't you accept me then? We are mates and we are supposed to get to know each other. I know that you said you won't need any man to possess you but am your mate and we belong together." Rain spoke in almost pleading. Ketra didn't want to believe how right his words were and how it felt that way.
He wondered why this woman was bound on ignoring the fact that they were meant to be together.
Ketra closed her eyes for seconds to push away an invisible force inside her that called for her to turn around and bury her head in that chest. She wondered what his scent was since she couldn't inhale it yet. She knew that some werewolves were good at suppressing their scents every time they left their packs to join the human city.
There wasn't any big deal about that since humans couldn't smell them anyway but they did it in case other werewolves met them. Many werewolves were in the human city intending to take over their territories and resources and they saw their fellow creatures as a threat to what they wanted to do.
"Sir Rain, I would appreciate it if you take it as if nothing has ever happened between us as it is. Maybe you have things to do and I have important things to attend to as well." Ketra said and walked away immediately.
Rain had been trying to digest her words by the time he realized that she was walking away, he saw her entering a red limousine that seemed to have been waiting for her. He halted his steps when it started at a speed and was out of sight in seconds.
Rain sighed and jabbed his hand in his hair. Failure, disappointment, and incapability all shadowed his heart. Maybe the elders were always right when they said that he was incapable. He thought that he had trained and learned enough to deal with the pack matters. But now that he thought about it, he was a failure. He failed to secure the mate bond and watched as she left.
To his deepest defeat, he didn't even realize she was walking away. What a joke he made on himself.
Rain walked out of the airport dejectedly and headed on to find a hotel where he could be alone and find ways to correct this mess or even forget about the damned bond that couldn't let his mate be willing to even touch his hand.
He wanted to call his beta and inform him that he found her, the one he tried to find in every corner of the earth but he wasn't even sure of what to answer in case he asked about her whereabouts. As mates, the newly mated, they needed to be in each other's proximity as long as they could but his case was different.
Rain cursed inwardly as he remembered her scent of vanilla mint which made him crave to inhale it again. To his disappointment, he didn't get to hug her even for a second to get her scent all over him. He was dejected and disappointed in himself. At the moment, he doubted if a title as an Alpha of such a big pack deserved him. Leading wasn't about the title but one's capability and his incapability to keep his mate was a sign that he couldn't lead his pack.
......
Ketra buried her face in her palms as she tried to calm herself down. She felt like a part of her was taken away and the emptiness was intense. She had to walk a runway in a few hours but she felt like she was suddenly too lazy to take it. This was not her usual self and she knew the reason.
She was bound on leading her independent life that she didn't realize how it felt to meet the one that is meant for her. She had gone as far as ignoring her feelings but now she felt like traveling back to the time when they met and redo things.
The limousine parked in front of a tall exquisite building and Ketra made her way inside hurriedly. "You're finally here. It took you so long to get back and we shall be late now. If you allowed me to come with you, you could get off the plane with your makeup done." Scott nagged but Ketra just rolled her eyes and bypassed him to sit adjacent to the mirror in the dressing room. Scott was Ketra's agent who got assigned to her six years ago when she joined Samsara modeling agency. Despite working together for six years, they never agreed on a particular thing. Nevertheless, they were still on brother-sister terms. Scott was supportive here and there and he was always willing to path through thick and thin for Ketra Venture. Other ladies were being attended to by make-up artists and fashion designers. Some were bickering and some were singing at top of their lungs excitedly. This was one thing Ketra loved about humans, carefree, happy, and lively. They were unlike werewolves who were a
The drive went fast per the mysterious man's words. He never met a crazy man in life and he wished never to encounter the same character again. . Rain was impatient and nervous as they approached the building where the Rosea fashion show was being held. Being his second chance, he needed to check himself, his words, and his behavior, or else he would be done for Learning that his mate was not just anybody but the famous model and businesswoman, he prepped for the words and ways to woo her. After all, her life has been spent around humans and maybe she wasn't familiar with the Werewolf way of spotting your mate, kissing their breath away, and sharing carnal pleasures or even relying on the bond to take things further. When the driver announced that they were there, Rain snapped out of his daze and looked at the surroundings of the tall building which was occupied by countless reporters. There were lots of fancy cars on the side but he spotted one car that made his heart thump again
Ketra's heart thumped against her chest as she attempted to locate another thing to snatch her attention. The allure was overwhelming and she wondered if she could get off stage without tripping. 'Calm down, please. Let's get done here. I have built this career for years and can't disappoint the people who believe in me.' Ketra urged her wolf hoping for an effective reaction. Initially, she was affected by his absence and now with him breathing the same air as she was, she was extremely affected and she was on the brink of losing concentration which wasn't a good thing for her career. Prime of all scents, Alpha Rain could gasp her vanilla-mint scent which overshadowed others. He decided to suppress his desire to cover her body from the sight of others and focus on her beauty and professionalism. The designer must have had good taste to choose her as to close the show, Rain complemented in his mind, glancing at the fairy under the half-lit hall. After countless pictures, the design
With the sparks that gave her butterflies in her stomach, Ketra didn't understand herself anymore. She glanced at her hand that was pecked by Rain which was the cause of the electricity that radiated in her body. When she stepped out, she wore her ever-serious expression. Her fans who had a chance to approach backstage were already waiting and new faces as well.In her years of being a model, she had brought new faces to recognition the same way she was brought up to where she was now. A picture with a top-notch model was the biggest chance for unrecognizable models to get known in Chicago and everywhere else. Ketra had no problem with that. She always created time for them and even checked out their skills in her free time. She also introduced capable ones to designers who needed models and that was her little happiness. But today was another topic. Her focus was not on them but rather on the locked door where she emerged from earlier. Her heart and her other half were inside that ro
Ketra sat quietly with Rain beside her in the back seat. Their silence was to keep their relationship away from anybody and since there was a driver in the front seat, they were extra cautious. The only sound in the car was their thumping heartbeats and their fast breath from the warmth that was created by their slightly brushing hands. It felt too good to be won over by Ketra's friction which was an exchange for her independence and freedom. She was afraid that she was going to ridicule herself when the bond took over her senses because she felt the magnetic feeling that pulled her closer to Rain's proximity.Ketra closed her eyes and balled her other fist to fight the internal force which threatened to take over. She felt the urge to intertwine their fingers while burying her head in his firm chest. She was in the blink of putting her nose right on the nook of his neck to sniff his faint scent if at all it could be sniffed.Still, she couldn't let her stubbornness and willfulness cr
Ketra felt jolts travel through her body upon Rain's touch. Even though she grew up outside her pack, more in a human way of life, she still knew that the spot where one marked her mate was the most sensitive on a werewolf's body.Just like now.She grit her teeth to control the feeling that was getting started since she didn't want to submit to him any time soon. She cleared her throat and spoke to break free from the awkward atmosphere."C-can you please Ummm…." She stammered but Rain got her meaning and took his hand back to himself."I come from the blue moon pack, not far from Chicago. I have been an alpha since I was eighteen and you?" Alpha Rain introduced himself hoping for a smooth response.Ketra couldn't believe her ears at all. She placed her glass down making an audible sound and Rain sensed that she wasn't pleased with all.He clenched his hands in nervousness anticipating her reaction as well as her response."You are an ALPHA?" Ketra asked once again emphasizing his ti
That night, Ketra had successfully evaded the Amber Moon pack. She was sick worried about her mother and the wrath that her father was going to make her face once he realized that Ketra wasn't anywhere near the Amber moon pack anymore. However, she had to gulp her anxiousness to save herself from her vicious father.Since then, it had been seven years now and she never thought of going back there. She always got the news that her mother is still the same Luna who covers her innermost pain to face her people. All in all, she knew that Alphas were the worst creatures in human form and she cursed her fate for being mated to one.As she thought about her past, she continuously grits her teeth and squeezed the glass in her hands which Alpha Rain realized and approached her side to break her from whatever it is."Hey, take it easy. Did I say something wrong?" Alpha Rain asked in a pleading voice as he took the glass away from her.He was surprised when she shot him a death glare screaming
Rain looked up at the ceiling and sighed as he felt his chest tighten but he still spoke. "The same people staged an accident for my parents and they both died. You don't want to think how difficult that is to me." Ketra unconsciously clenched her fists while she heard Rain's side of the story. He had such a bad experience with the people who were supposed to support him and train him. How hungry for power were those stinking bastards? How could they hurt a boy like Rain without minding what he would grow to hold on to them? "But it's okay. I have come to get used to them and am still learning how to handle them politely. I know that they are greedy and can go to the Earth's limits to get power." Rain mumbled with his arms wrapped around Ketra's waist tightly. "I just don't want to be like them." Rain shrugged at it. No matter how much he wanted to prove himself to those old men and women, he still didn't want to stoop as low as fighting with them. His parents handled them polite
