Adrian’s POV

Alec’s scream of agony got embedded into my soul.

It took us five seconds to snap out of our paralyzing terror, both Lennox and I. Five seconds where dread was coursing through me at the thought of losing my brother forever. I could never recover if that happened. Alec was more than a brother, he was like my other half. He was the only family I had left, the closest one.

I shifted my eyes on the girl that made my heart hurt with so much agony. She couldn’t be more than eighteen, maybe even younger. But the look on her face is what baffled me the most. It was filled with venom and direct hate towards Alec. As if this wasn’t about winning a battle on behalf of her rogue alpha, this was personal. She was targeting him specifically. Like she knew exactly who he was even though Alec never spoke before the battle began.
