Chapter 100

MATEO'S POV

"Wake up, silly!" I heard a strange voice beckoning at me. That was when I regained consciousness. I was lying on the ground in a dirty alleyway. My head was throbbing, and my entire body ached. I tried to sit up, but a sharp pain shot through my ribs, and I fell back down with a groan.

I lay there for a few minutes, trying to catch my breath and gather my thoughts. Finally, I managed to sit up again, this time more slowly. I looked around, trying to orient myself. I had no idea where I was or how long I had been unconscious.

I tried to stand, but my legs were shaky, and I stumbled. I leaned against the wall for support, taking deep breaths to try and calm my racing heart.

As the fog in my brain started to clear, the memories of what had happened began to come back to me. The gunmen, the beating, the fainting A wave of anger and panic washed over me. What if they came back? What if they finished the job? Then I wish it's the former, because whoever made Mateo lie down hel
