MATEO'S POV

We continued our ride down the road, and honestly, I have no specific destination. The man driving has asked me countless times, but I am just coming out of my house; obviously, I am not going back there for a while. I pretended to be just going for a ride and would be back later to get some fresh air.

I heaved a sigh of relief as I sat in the car, leaning my back against the seat. My heart felt a bit heavy after I just realized the pains my victims' families have been going through just because of me. I now understand Kiara's mystery; it will be more painful knowing that her family were murdered in a day by the man she loves a lot. Not even that they were kidnapped; they are all dead, and she won't see them again except in the afterlife. The immeasurable pain I have been going through all these years, even with the hope that my parents are alive but just missing, can't be measured with the one she has had to endure all this while.
