Chapter 4

*The Wizard Kingdom, The Central Coven Of Wizardry.*

Queen Griselda, the Witch of the Central Coven, sat in her golden chair looking at the five sons of Zed who were utterly beaten up and bloody from the fight last night.

She stood up, paced a little, and then sat back down, took a look at the wizard beside her, and shook her head in disappointment.

"You had one simple instruction, and that was to bring Prince Jaden to me."

Torak, the leader of the brothers, spoke up in pain. "We had no idea it would lead to a bloody fight. We tried to reason with..."he stated.

Griselda's eyes furrowed with confusion.

"You tried to talk someone into joining you and he ended up beating you all to a pulp? That story sounds eerie to me, did you perhaps enrage him?" she asked, picking up her wand.

Torak's eyes widened as he stared at Rafael, who stood close to Queen Griselda.

Rafael is the Queen's right-hand man and royal wizard.

She told him to send the sons of Zed to bring Jaden back alive, but he told them to make sure they kill him.

After a second of eye contact, Torak lied.

"We only tried to reason with him, diplomatically of course, but he beat us up out of rage or so. By the time we found him, he was drunk with human wine. It must be why."

"How stupid are you to not know that a man must only be approached when he is sober?" Griselda cut him short, anger rising in her tone.

"It's my fault, I should have sent more competent people. It wouldn't happen again." Rafael intervened.

Torak bowed his head as she dismissed them.

"Sadly, the Wizards of Zed proved to be incompetent. We shall find a way to bring Prince Jaden back, we must."

She smiled at him. "Thank you Rafa."

He nodded as he walked away to continue his duties.

Many centuries ago,

The crucifix, also known as the rogue witches and wizards of the Central Coven, invaded the Kingdom at night.

Queen Selene and her husband, King Dragoz, were taken unawares as the war took place.

The crucifix had come to exact their revenge for what King Dragoz had done by banishing them for earlier plotting treason.

In a bid to save her only child, who had just been born, she ran to the woods.

But the leader of the crucifix Galleo caught up with her.

"I hate that you would leave so soon." He smiled.

She screamed, clutching her child to her breasts, crying.

"Let us go!" she yelled at him, as his other men surrounded her.

"I wish I could...but we all know witches. They are the strongest when it comes to retribution and with that child you have there, you might come for revenge," he chuckled.

Selene looked confused.

What Galleo was saying wasn't entirely a lie.

"What are you talking about...we won't come back...I, Dragoz, and our child will leave, you can take whatever you want."

Galleo gave a long maniacal laugh.. "You mean this King Dragoz?" he said as he threw Dragoz's lifeless head to the ground just where Selene stood.

A feeling of pain and anger filled her heart.

She was in extreme anguish, she fell to her knees.

Her heart was broken.

Seeing her husband's head out of his body and bleeding made her enraged.

"Why? What did he ever do to you?" she cried.

She screamed angrily as she threw her child to the ground, her body emitting a certain energy as she muttered a spell that sent half the crucifix flying and burning to the ground, but Galleo was unaffected by her power.

She stared at him as she realized.

"What did you think?" he asked, jumping about playfully.

He was clearly enjoying his domination. He set his hair free from the ponytail it was in and twirled it around before continuing,

"That we will come to attack one of the strongest witches and wizards of our time without a little backup?Ha! I'm not that dumb."

She hastily picked baby Jaden up and held him tightly in tears.

"Now it's my turn, Queen!" Galleo announced.

He created a huge fire spell, but just before he aimed it at her, she cursed.

"You shall all pay for what you have done. My son shall be reincarnated to take back what is rightfully his. The throne belongs to our family."

Without a care, he immediately set her on fire. She would have created a protection spell but all her energy she had used up earlier.

"I would be waiting." He chuckled.

With that, Queen Selene and her child burned to death.

*********

After so many years and centuries, the Central Coven was regained again by the sisters of Selene.

The witches of Savadore and a few descendants of the crucifix, Rafael included,

One of the descendants of the savadore witches had become the recent ruler of the Central Coven.

During that time at the coronation, The oracle had shown the few of them King Jaden, who had been reincarnated, and asked that he be brought to the coven, for the dark times were ahead.

Apparently, Rafael sent the best of the coven guardians.

The brothers, who he ordered to kill Prince Jaden rather than bring him back alive.

He walked into the room where the brothers sat waiting for him to arrive.

"We apologize, Lord Rafael, he was too strong! We clearly underestimated him." Torak, the mouthpiece of his brothers, pleaded.

Rafael sighed.

He sat on a cushion and rolled his eyes.

"You shouldn't have escaped at all," he said, touching his chin.

"But Lord Rafael, if Prince Jaden is truly the chosen one, why would you tell us to kill him?" Torak asked out of curiosity.

"That is none of your business. Do not mention any of this to Queen Griselda." He stood up and walked towards the door.

"I wonder what the prince could be doing now?" He sniffed.

JADEN'S POV

"Bro, you look like crap," Aaron commented as he watched me take my seat in my cubicle.

"Maybe I should give you a taste of my fist so you can look the same," I teased as he laughed.

"What happened last night? You just left the club."

He asked, and flashes of being beaten rushed my memories.

I brushed it off and concluded that it was just one of my dreams.

I began typing my reports. "Speaking of that, do you remember seeing me after I left the club?" I asked curiously.

I couldn't keep the coffee shop lady off my head.

"Only that you left with Stacy," he replied.

I finished the reports and sent them to the chief inspector, who asked me later by telephone to meet him in his office.

I didn't know what to expect.

As I got into the office, the inspector, Mr. Carson Davis, stared at me.

"Damn ..You look like Crap..Jay."

I sighed, "You are not the first person saying that."

"Err...That's why I called you."

Carson Davis stood up looking out his window now.

"You should take the day off. Aaron raised his concerns. You have been working tirelessly for a week and got like three murder cases already."

Me, who is a hyper-responsible kind of person, tried explaining that I was fine.

"I'm fine, I still have a murder case on my shoulder." I said,

"You need to see a doctor or therapist, Jay."

"But..."

"I am the boss here!...your mother would kill me if something happened to you!"

Davis is my uncle and the brother of my mother.

"She is dead, uncle, stop making low-blow jokes," I replied, avoiding the subject.

"She still can...she still can." Davis laughed slightly making me smile. I took his advice and left.

I decided to stop by the cemetery to see my mother's grave.

Flashes of her dying in the hospital bed of cancer hunted me.

I wondered why I couldn't forget her death scene.

My mother's death was the start of his dreams and depression.

As I was about to leave, I noticed that someone was watching me.

It wasn't just one person.

There were two or maybe more, they were hiding in the woods surrounding the cemetery.

I wondered who they were and why they were there.

But I had only two choices: to go back to my car or corner them some how.

My mind immediately went to Carrie's murder case.

"Maybe her killer had come to kill me after hearing that there's no murder case I haven't solved." I thought.

Walking fast, I moved to my car safely, but just when I was about to get in, a hand grabbed me by my shoulder.
