CHAPTER 4

The next afternoon, Sheena was already busy fixing her. She took another shower and used a blow dryer to dry her hair. Sheena styled her hair and let the loose waves fall. She applied a color, which she initially rejected, but Sheena insisted that it was temporary. She claimed that in order to make her look different, they must first change the color of her black hair.

She didn't say a word anymore and just let her friend continue with her work. On her, she applied lipstick. It seemed to be a little thick, so that it took a little while to remove. She only nodded. Despite the thickness of her makeup, she was happy with it. When she caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror, she felt like a different person.

Around five in the afternoon, Sheena finished fixing her. Sheena made her wear the clothes she would wear later. She was right. That dress was too short and daring. Her cleavage is visible. She wanted to wear a blazer to cover it up.

"What do you have to say? Don't be shy because you are attractive. If you act weird, your face will reflect that. Enjoy it while you can, since those two will bother you again when you get back to our place. It's only for one night." She knew that her friend was referring to Mhariel and Dino.

Sheena also lends her red high-heeled shoes. Fortunately, she enjoys acquiring high heels even when she doesn't wear them. Only when she wants to practice walking with it at home does she want to wear it. Because of that, she won't have any trouble walking in the shoes she lent her.

She saw that her hair appeared to be a combination of red and orange in hue. She looks more like a city girl now than she did when she lived in the country.

"I'm done now! Your date will undoubtedly be pleased with it. While we wait for the time, you remain seated. I will first call him."

Even though it was only after five in the afternoon, she made her get dressed and sit in the living room.

While she was on the phone, Sheena retreated a bit from her.

"Hello! Yes, later will be OK. You know, just to be sure. You might try to con me again."

When she heard it, she frowned. Sheena was only a few feet away from where she was seated, so she couldn't help but hear it.

Why does it seem as though she already knows her "date" when they speak? Was it supposed to be a blind date, as Sheena claimed?"

"Alright. I will drive her there. We'll talk again later."

Sheena hung up the phone and smiled as she turned to face her.

Is that the person I'll be dating later? She asked inquisitively.

"Oh, no. That person was my pal. Your blind date texted to say that you two would meet at seven, extending the evening so you could get to know one another better. You're prepared, so I concurred. Then I informed him that I would not be his date any more, so you don't have to pretend to be me."

She merely nodded.

"Are you nervous?" Sheena stepped up next to her right away and held her cold hands.

"Oh! Since it's simply a date, act normally. Don't meet him again if he isn't your type. If you're feeling too anxious, just sip on this water. So that you won't pass out on your date because of nervousness, I dissolved a calming pill in the water." Even when she handed her the tiny bottle of mineral water, Sheena laughed.

She grabbed it and tucked it away in her shoulder bag.

Sheena drove her to the large hotel where she would meet her date. They will reportedly eat inside the hotel's restaurant bar. Sheena didn't get out of the car, even though she thought Sheena would take her inside. She advised her to simply wait a short while at the hotel entrance.

She was even ashamed that every time a woman saw her, they gave her a full body check. Most of the males who see her give her a friendly smile. The girls simply furrow their brows in her direction.

A man who he estimated to be in his early 30s approached her less than ten minutes later. His attire is unassuming yet clearly expensive. The man is attractive.

"Carina?"

"Huh?"

Who is Carina?

"I take it Sheena is your friend?

"Ah, yes. But my name is-"

"Carina, yep! Come with me upstairs and the party will start shortly. I'm Miguel, by the way."

He greeted her but did not reach out to shake her hand. To lead her into the hotel, he simply held her by the arm.

Party? Do they plan to attend a party? She erroneously believed they were going on a blind date.

They took the elevator to the tenth floor.

"A-are you my date?" She dared to ask.

"Date?" He asked her in surprise.

When he noticed that her response remained unchanged, he instantly began to smile.

"Oh! Is that how you call your clients now? Date? Yes, that is a better way to describe a client."

Client? Is she with the right person or is she making a mistake?

Suddenly, her phone rang. Sheena was on the other line.

"Yaz, have you two met? By the way, I forgot to say that I gave you a different name. I'm thinking that even if he isn't your type, he won't know your real name.I said your name is Carina. I just called to say that. I'm going to hang up now because Arthur has been waiting for me. Bye!"

Sheena appeared to be in a rush, so she didn't give her a chance to respond.

"To answer your question earlier, no, I'm not your "date". It's our friend. This party is for him, so please make this night memorable for our friend." Even as he said it, the man gave her a wink.

She was more and more confused as the conversation between her and the man went on.

The elevator door abruptly opened. It dawned on her right away that the tenth floor was filled with loud music. The entire floor has consistent lighting throughout the route.

Is that the appearance of every hotel floor?

As he walked her toward the quartet of four men seated at a table, Miguel pulled her back. He made a U-turn. There were a lot of people there, and she also saw some women around her clothing.

"Is that her?" Asked a man who was sitting looking at her.

"Yep. But of course, it will be a surprise, so Sean must have no idea. I won't introduce him to you guys, and you might even take advantage of her."

The boys suddenly laughed as they watched her intently.

"Dude, can I have her instead? Simply give Sean a different woman. The way she was looked at was teasing.

"Damn you, Vinz!" Miguel answered with a laugh.

She inhaled. Why does she feel as though she is being insulted even though she has no idea what they are discussing?

Once more, Miguel led her to a table full of females.

"Just stay here first, okay? I'll come to you when it's time."

Before he left her, she spoke. She had to raise her voice even more because of the loud music.

"Miguel, I believe---"

The individuals at the table from which she and Miguel had earlier entered began applauding, preventing her from finishing what she was about to say. When Miguel saw a man arrive, he looked over there and yelled, too, leaving her already.
