Making The Right Decision

Elizabeth’s POV

Am I about to do the right thing though? I stare hard at the card fixed between my middle and index finger.

I have nothing left to lose. Do I?

Breathing out heavily through my mouth, I glance beside me and my gaze lands on the telephone booth near the bus shelter.

Sniffling loudly, I stand up and drag my heavy feet towards it. As soon as I reach the telephone booth, I step in and close the door behind me.

My heart thumps hard against my chest as I punch in the digits on the card.

I inhale deeply and press the dial button.

I cradle the telephone receiver in my neck and wait as it rings on the other end.

I pray silently for Ethan to pick up and I also pray for him not to pick up. Crazy.

I’m not sure I’m making the right decision…

I bite on my lower lip, waiting impatiently for whatever’s about to happen next.

On the second ring, Ethan answers the phone and my heart almost leaps out of my chest.

“Hey,” his voice is deep, raspy and rich.

He doesn’t add Spitfire, my bra
