Chapter Six.

It all happened in slow motion right in front of my eyes.

One minute Lee had been charging towards the rogue Alpha like he was going to tear him limb from limb, and the next minute the Rogue Alpha was atop him striking down with a swipe of his huge paws as he swooped in for the kill, his jaws the size of two wolves, murder in his eyes.

Suddenly my father and the rest of the pack members who hadn’t been gathered by the Rogue Alphas wolves sprang into action. The fight had begun all over again.

I lost sight of the Rogue Alpha as he was suddenly surrounded on all sides by the fight. The fight around me turned into a combined cacophony of intense, growls, snapping, and crunching sounds.

Howl's sliced through the night air over and over again as the fight became heavy.  Being the direct reason for this fight, I was neglected.

For a while, I just knelt there, having no idea of what to do or where to go. I was still weak and defenseless without my wolf, and I even lost my urge to help either side of the fight. At that moment I was in a whirlpool of emotions.

“It's not the time to cry anymore, Lily!” Suddenly I heard a long missed voice.

“Casey?” I called out in my mind and finally felt her response, feeling the power from her flow through me.

I am here,” she replied reassuring me.

My powers still hadn't been restored to full strength, but I shrugged off the ropes that bound me, stood up, and smelt every scent of blood in the air. I was tracking the different scents that filled the air before someone call out to me.

“Lily.” It was Lee's voice. He must have been heavily injured judging from his weakened tone.

But I ignored his voice and looked once more around me for the fastest route of escape. I didn't care what happened to Lee at this point, I was done caring.

“Lily, come find me, don’t you wanna know the truth behind your birth?”

His words stopped me. What truth? Was there something I didn’t know about my birth?

“Lily, you were tricked, Luna lied to you. Your mother was not like what she told you.” Lee’s voice gushed as if trying his best to convince me, “Come, and I will tell you the truth.”

“No, he must be lying.” Casey said, “We can’t fall for his lies anymore!”

But before we could hesitate any longer, I heard Lee screaming, as if he was attacked by something, and my heart lurched in my throat. I had to hear what he had to say. If he's the only one who knows the truth, I'm not gonna let him die before telling me.

I kicked off from the ground sniffing the air as I sifted through the different scents in the air before finally locating his position

Moving toward the direction of the scent I broke into a run. A few meters away from me Lee was on the ground, face to the sky and he was unmoving.

Is he alive?” Casey said to me.

I didn’t know, I couldn’t tell from where I was if he was all right or not, but I moved towards him and as I got closer to him Lee's eyes suddenly shot open.

He turned his gaze towards me and smiled weakly. There was a streak of blood running down the side of his face.

“Lily come closer I have something for you.” He said in a voice that was barely a whisper. His trembling hand reached out to me, grabbing something in his hand.

I had to move closer to hear him clearly. However, his attack was unexpectedly quick. In an instant, I was flat on my back under his muscular body. His right hand was clutching a dagger and as he brought it up to plunge it down, I had to strain my whole strength to hold it.

“LEE! HOW DARE YOU!” Casey was shouting in my mind, but with the tranquillizer still running, she can’t do anything to help me. The dagger was almost one inch above my eyes, it was too close that I almost feel the breath of death. I was in a desperate situation.

I knew I won’t last long against Lee’s full strength. Looking into Lee’s darkened eyes, a lot of scenes flashed back in my mind. Those good memories we shared together only made his hatred even clearer. I recall the pain of being rejected by Lee, and I finally knew it was time to say closure to our relationship.

“I, Lily Alder wood,” My voice was calm as never before when I started, “accept you, Lily Evans' rejection.”

And that’s it. That’s my last hope of survival. The mate bond was designed by the Moon Goddess to make sure you can find the right one, that’s why it hurts so much whenever rejection happens. It’s your punishment by the Goddess for rebelling against your fate.

Surely no one could have imagined that any mate would use it to hurt each other, right?

Lee's eyes widened and his strength loosened. He hit the ground leaning on his back, his eyes to the sky and his breath ragged. I seized the moment to free myself from him and rose to my feet.

I escape from him quickly, trying to find myself a place to hide. However, Lee must have been faking his injury, cause he was up again fighting past the pain of the rejection before I could get away. It was not long before I was cornered by him again.

“Bobby offered me a lot for killing you.“ Lee said with difficulty, as the effect of my rejection still takes place.

I stared at him, seeing the determination, hate, and greed for power in his eyes. His teeth bared, his eyes glowing. Even though he was wounded, he didn’t care. All he cared about was getting to me, his key to power.

“He doesn’t love you. Killing you would only mean an end to his past mistakes.” Lee continued, the dagger seemed lost, so he just extended his claws, while still trying to move me with those harsh words. ” Nobody loves you. Not even your whore mother. What’s wrong of me to end your useless life before you die for nothing?”

Disregarding his bullshit, I know I can’t escape anymore. So I closed my eyes, getting prepared for my last fight, allowing Casey to take control as much as she could. I would rather die fighting.

“It’s your honor to die for my great cause.” Lee lurched close to me with a fierce smile.

"Om." Suddenly a wave of overwhelming alpha pheromones drown us, both of us were frozen under this dominative auro. And then I heard a cold, steel voice from behind me.

“Who gave you the nerve to touch my prey?”

At that moment I couldn’t focus on Lee who had stopped his attack anymore.  My whole concern was on the sudden tingling sensation that was coursing through my body.

“How can that even happen?“ Casey suddenly whispered to me, “He’s our second chance Mate.”
