Chapter 4: Exposed

Raine closed his eyes, looking defeated as he placed a palm on his forehead. It is over! He thought as he bitterly smiled. If he could be more dramatic, he would have shed a crocodile tear already.

“Huh? But Raine Leister’s hair is black, and he has blue eyes.” One of the men in black suit said.

Raine’s body froze as his face darkened. HEY! You idiots! Shut up!!! He thought as his fingers twitched, itching to cover up the mouths of these men in black suits. But, god is not on his side today since he heard them continue speaking.

“And… where does he go again?” another man in black suit spoke. “Riv… Riverstorm?” he said.

“It is Riverside High School.” The man beside him spoke.

Okay. You are really asking for it. Raine suddenly felt like the logo on the chest of his uniform jacket was burning after the men in black suits said the name of his school. I am gonna fucking kill you after I dealt with that pampered kid! He thought with his face dark as he cracked his knuckles while he looked at the men in black suits murderously.

“Oh? You are looking for him, too?`` The pampered kid, who is a student of the Margin Academy, looked at the spot where Raine was hiding before he turned back to the men in black suits.

“Huh? ‘too’?” the men in black suits said and their eyes went wide when they realized something. They pointed their guns at the student of the Margin Academy.

Raine’s lip twitched when he saw the situation escalated. This is bad! He thought. If you want to kill him, then do it elsewhere and not on my doorstep! He thought as veins popped on his forehead due to anger.

“You can’t be… are you with that bastard’s – ?!” a man in black suit exclaimed in shock when he realized something. “What are you doing here?” he asked as his face instantly turned dark.

Around this time, the residents are inside their home. Before, they went inside their home and never dared to go outside in fear of the gangsters as the sun set. Now, they go inside to cook dinner for their family. They don’t go out because they are already used to their night habit even if the gangsters are not to be feared anymore.

“Don’t lump me in with the dogs like you who always use force to coerce a person.” The tone of the Margin Academy student’s voice suddenly changed along with his aura.

Raine froze from where he was hiding after he felt that the atmosphere changed. He looked at the Margin Academy student. He is a beautiful youth with ethereal beauty. His eyes are gentle and his face delicate. However, those eyes are glaringly cold at the men in black suits that are likely to be bodyguards.

The youth stand alone in front of the group of the male adults. But, his aura didn’t diminish the slightest. He looked like their young master, but surprisingly, he is on the opposing side from the group. One could feel the tension between the youth and the group of the male adults.

Raine saw the leader of the bodyguards frown at the youth.

“You’re also a dog of the Bardecks.” The leader told the youth. “A stray dog picked up and fed and clothed. Now you act like a young master.” He said and sneered in disdain. “Let me tell you, you will never be one. Don’t try to befriend our young master – “ he said. But, the youth cut him off.

The youth scoffed and laughed, holding his stomach. “Your young master?” he said and sneered. He crossed his thin arms on his chest.

Raine could feel that the tension rose higher in the air. The longer that he stays here, the more that he feels that he will soon be in trouble. After all, a Margin Academy student suddenly came here in this poor district which was known as the worst district. Not to mention that he came to look for him. Then, there are these suspicious-looking bodyguards who actually even entered his home without permission!

Either way is no good. Just what do they want from him? Raine thought and frowned. Better to stay at Lovis’s house tonight. He thought and hopped on his bicycle. However, just as he was about to pedal, he heard a loud voice ahead of him.

“Raine? What are you doing here? Why aren’t you home yet?” It was his neighbor. She just got from the grocery store and bought soy sauce.

If you want to act as a bystander, then please do your job well, please! Raine thought as sweat formed on his forehead. He could hear his neck creaking as he slowly turned back to the group of bodyguards and the pretty-faced youth.

As he expected, the group turned to him and stared at him. Raine already predicted that the group looking for him must already know his name and address, especially this group of bodyguards. Or else, why are they here?

“Young master.” The head of the bodyguards called after he recovered from his shock.

Raine’s eyes narrowed. He knew it. His mother is really from a wealthy family.

“Huh? ‘young master’?” his neighbor muttered, confused.

Raine turned to her. “Please go inside your home now, auntie.” He told her and gently pushed her inside.

Though confused, she still followed him. After all, it was Raine who brought back the order and peace in their community.

After the kind neighbor closed the door, Raine turned to them. His eyes are chillingly cold like the winter. They subconsciously stepped back when they saw his silent but murderous gaze, like a storm is raging in his eyes.

“My mother is already dead.” Raine spoke. “Together with her, my connection with whoever that is related to her was gone. She brought it to her grave.” He said. His voice is low but with force.

The bodyguards were taken aback. They realized that their young master is not a simple youth. Not only is he aware of his identity, but also… they looked at the youth’s chilling gaze. They could feel their spine turn cold. His eyes… they show bloodlust. They thought. Just how had he lived all these years?

The pretty youth walked away from the bodyguards, disregarding the bloodthirsty aura that Raine is exuding. “Master.” He called and knelt with his knee on the ground. He respectfully bowed, placing his right hand on his left chest. “I am Yris Hemfield.” He said and looked up at Raine.

However, Raine is unfazed. “Which side are you from?” he asked them. Obviously, the youth and the group of bodyguards are from different factions.

The bodyguards woke up with a start. They immediately bowed.

“We are from the Leister family.” The leader answered. “Our mistress Helennia Leister is the young master’s grandmother. We were sent here to take you home with us.” He explained and stood upright.

Yris sneered. “She wants to take my master to inherit her wealth now that she is dying?” he scoffed.

The bodyguards glared at Nishijima Yris. “You - !”

Yris ignored them and turned to Raine. “Master. I am from the Bardeck family.” He said and stood up. “I am sent here to assist master.” He said, then paused. “I am aware that the Bardeck family also has a fault. But, madam Aria took you away on her own. Old master Sentine didn’t know.” He explained. “He noticed all too late…” he said and hung his head as he heaved a sigh.
