31. Validation

I paused, looking at my dad. Perhaps there was a side of him that understood what I meant. “I… I only spoke what I saw. They were only angry that you attacked their homes.”

“You really need a history lesson, sis.” Serene said. A bitter smile on her painted lips. “Our enmity goes way back. We didn’t attack them just randomly.” She rolled her eyes. “If you so like them so much, I’m sure we won’t stop you from going back to them. That’s one way to ease our burden.”

“Serene.” Sky warned her. I noticed my dad was holding back a smile on his lips. His lips twitched as soon as my eyes landed on them.

“There’s no way to talk to your sister like that, Serene.” All of them had a shocked look on their faces as they stared at dad who suddenly defended me. Serene couldn’t believe that he would chastise her for me. I was dumbfounded too.

“Tell me, Nasrin. If they took you as a means for revenge, did they plan how to exact it? I am sure they are brewing ways to attack us.” Dad continued. Mom nodded
