04. Meeting The Devil

"The most beautiful part is, I wasn't even looking when I found you"

My green eyes collide with brown ones, my eyes hold fury while the other pair has shock written on them.

But within a second the shock is changed into irritation and than anger, "leave me" I grit shaking my head to get my hairs out of his hold but his hold only tightens, I make sure not to touch him.

The mafia prince is taken aback by my words "what did you just say?" He asks lowly but the roughness of his voice is prominent.

I realize he's the prince, I need to control my anger and words with him, "sir, I think I am at the wrong place" I say softening my gaze. Everyone around us turns dead silent.

I can sense everyone's eyes on us and that makes me uncomfortable.

The prince looks interested in my words, he observes me painfully slowly as as if I am something very entertaining to him, thankfully he leaves my hairs after his observation, I sigh in relief but it is short lived as I sense his hold on my chin.

He turns my face sideways, than upwards and back to it's normal position.

His dark eyes stop on my face, he inspects each inch carefully, does he also think I am a whore? Is he inspecting me.

"Sir, I am not a whore" I blurt out, he stares in my eyes and I do the same, I don't look away.

"Who are you?" A new angry voice questions and I sense the barrel of a gun pressed behind my head, I freeze in my place, the prince looks behind me at the person holding the gun.

He straightens himself looking down at me "answer the prince" the man infront of me speaks, I frown confused.

Is he not the prince?

The man behind me circles me and stops infront, he comes into my view, he is still holding the gun on me.

Is he the prince!? Than whose the other one?

I look between the two of them, they are very similar apart from some difference here and there.

They look like brothers.

The man holding the gun looks older but has softer features compared to the other one who looks deadly and angry.

The angry man and I stare in each others eyes for another moment, I can tell the man is amused and confused by me not averting my gaze.

My eyes widen as it suddenly dawns on me that who the angry man is, if he's not the prince but looks like him than he is...

He is Salvatore.

I gulp visibly, everyone knows about Salvatore. His anger, his murders, his stories are what mothers tell their children to scare them off to sleep.

He may not be the mafia prince but he has more deadly reputation around.

And I just glared and talked directly with the most dangerous man in this country. I instantly look down at my lap, I squeeze my eyes, he's going to burn my precious eyes. Oh god!

"If you waste another second without answering me, I will not have mercy on you" the mafia prince Giovanni hisses, his patience is running thin here.

I gulp down the building saliva and answer with my head still low.

"I- I joined here as a maid but on my way I slept in the bus, later I was woken up by the driver.. than a guard found me.. he brought me here but I am a maid..." I hurriedly say what ever comes in my mind in a single breath.

I can sense their stare on me "you can inquire about me, I have submitted all my documents and data!" I continue speaking.

"Who brought you here?" The prince asks, I look up and scan our surroundings, I find the guard who brought me here stationed in his place.

"Him" I point towards him like a kid, the guard jumps as all the attention shifts to him.

"Is she stating the truth?" The prince asks, the guards looks at me than back at the prince "yes sir, I did find her in the underground parking but I had no idea that she was one of the new assigned maids." he says his head confidently.

I exhale loudly in relief, for a second I thought he would deny it.

The prince nods his head, "Jade!" The prince calls for someone, within few minutes a middle aged woman, a maid as seen by her dressing walks in.

She stands beside the prince with her head bowed "yes sir" she says obediently, "get this new maid settled, check the list of the new maids and whores and see to it that no such mistake is made again" he dismisses us.

"Yes sir" she answers shortly, she holds my upper arm signalling me to stand up, I do it looking while around us purposely ignoring Sir Salvatore's gaze, my eyes stop at the guard who threatened me earlier. He looks disappointed that I turned out to be a maid.

Jade pulls me towards the rooms exit, I follow her but stop as I remember something, I need to save my eyes.

"Sir Salvatore" I call him, he turns to me with a raised bow.

Jade buries her finger nails in my upper arm, I pull away my hand and give her a stink eye. She looks at me surprised and scared as well.

I turn back towards Salvatore's direction, I notice all the guards staring at me in shock.

I ignore them and bow my head "sir, I'm sorry for what happened earlier, I was worried you would assign me to the wrong job, I have a temper that gets me in trouble often but I promise I won't make such mistakes again, please spare my eyes" I chuckle nervously at the end of my sentence but all I want to do is cry.

No one even smiles not even Salvatore, I feel awkard now.

"No hard feelings" I say quickly and turn around exiting the room like a headless chicken, Jade follows behind.

"Why did you do that!?" Jade screeches pulling me to the side. "Did what?" I ask confused, "and don't put your hands on me, I'm not the one to tolerate such behavior" I warn her.

"Where did the pussy cat from inside go now?" She asks with a sass, "don't tell me you don't become one yourself when facing the demon" I shoot back.

She thinks for a moment "fair enough" she says.

"I'm sorry about that" she points at my arm, "I was just trying to stop you, no one talks to sir Salvatore directly, he hates it when anyone talks to him without his permission, you're lucky he let you go without any punishment" her hands fly in all directions as she explains.

"Punishment for talking to him.. Isn't that to severe?" I ask scrunching up my face. "Says the one who was begging for her eyes just for looking at him" she says with her hands on her hips.

"Geez you're annoying" I say scrunching up my face "You will be shocked after you find out what little things here can get you in trouble" she starts walking and I follow beside her.

"I will give you an advice girl, stay away from trouble, you seem like a good girl so just do your work and earn your money" she advices.

I silently nod her head, it's not like I'll meet Salvatore again and she's right, I'm here to change my families future, I won't get in trouble, I'll make sure of it.
