She rose quickly from her seat, scanning the area for another vacant table.
Rocky must have anticipated what she was about to do, and issued an order using his most calm voice. The one he used to control her.
“Stay!” He commanded.
Against her will, she dropped to her seat like a trained puppy. She followed his command. She could not help it. When you have been following Rocky’s orders for years, it has become a habit, and breaking a habit is tough. You need to condition yourself over and over again.
It must start with a conscious decision to disobey. And disobedience takes a lot of courage. The courage which she does not possess at the moment.
