Chapter 7

Clarice couldn't sleep all night. Tristan's words kept ringing in her mind until she decided not to sleep at all, busy reading her unfinished books. She immediately got ready to go to Joel's grave before Tristan came to get her because it was better if he didn't show up when Clarice needed some alone time with Joel, her dead boyfriend.

With quick feet, she stepped into the elevator and down to the parking lot. Without lingering too long to warm up her car, she left the apartment with a sense of relief. Her heart was beating fast as she was like a thief sneaking up on the owner of the house.

She bought flowers and brought them to Joel's grave. The cemetery was still very quiet, but Clarice could see a few people who came to look at the graves of the dead. For some reason, Clarice's breathing seemed to be more labored than before. It was surreal coming to her boyfriend's grave alone so early in the morning.
