Chapter 16- The Tempting Desire

Claire blinked. Why is there a troubled feeling inside her chest just because of that idea? Why does she like the idea that Jacob is protecting her? And why does she feel like she's been with him for a long time even though she hasn't?

Even though there were many times that they were together, whether it was intentional or not, the fact that Jacob was still a stranger was still there. She didn't know anything about him aside from his name, that he lived in a rich subdivision and that he was ignorant when it came to modern gadgets. That was it. Claire could not use that as a basis to remove him from the category of being a stranger.

"But... why me? How... I mean, we didn't know each other," Claire asked confused but got no answer.

Jacob broke the long silence as if he couldn't stand it anymore. "It just happened…" he said as if he had trouble saying the words. Even he seemed confused. "I'm just curious about you because I couldn't compel you. I can't hear what you're thinking."
