Chapter 4

Kiara POV

I'm just looking at my brother when he's going upstairs, I can't help but force him to accept Bea as his secretary. I have confidence in that girl and know that she can do the job well.

And because I was determined to make him agree, I followed him to his room. When I entered, I didn't see him but I heard the splash of water in the bathroom so I'm sure he was taking a bath. I sat on the bed while waiting for him to finish.

Later I heard the bathroom door open and my brother came out, he looked at me.

"What are you doing here?" He asked.

"We're not done talking brother!" I snort at him.

"If you insist on what you were telling me earlier, my answer is still no."

I stood up and approached him. "Brother, she needs this work, her mother needs surgery," I promise.

"And so? Do you still want to make the company a charity? You can help her if you want. You have your business, right? Why don't you let her work for you?"

"I already offer her some help but she doesn't want to accept it, she wants to work and not rely on other people. And one more thing brother there is no vacancy in my boutique." I explained to him.

"But she is not a degree holder, right? She didn't graduate."

"But she is hard-working, I'm sure she can do her job well. Isn't that what you want in a secretary?" I insist.

He sighed. "I'll let you in on this Kiara but if I don't like her work I'll fire her. Okay? And this is only temporary Kiara, I will still hire someone to be my secretary soon."

"Really bro? Thank you!" I promised enthusiastically and he hugged me.

"Let me go! I can't breathe," he complained.

"You can help her with her mother's surgery right?" I asked.

He frowned. "What do you mean?"

"Brother, I accompanied her to the hospital earlier, I feel sorry for her because her mother is sick and the doctor said that she needs to undergo surgery as soon as possible if not she might die," I explained to him.

"Where did you meet that person? Are you sure she can be trusted? Maybe she is just using you,"

"She's a good person, she turned down my offer to help her, didn't she? She said she wanted to work with the money she'd earn for her mother. And do you know that she works almost four jobs just to save money." she said.

"Kiara, avoid being too nice to others because sometimes some people are abusive."

"I know brother, it's just that she was kind to me because she also helped me even though she didn't know me before," I said.

"Tell her that she needs to go to the office tomorrow. You know my rules and one more thing, make it clear to her that this is not permanent."

"Alright, brother I will," I promised and smiled.

He smiled back. "Let's go down and eat."

FAST FORWARD …

After we finished eating, I immediately went to my room to call Bea, I needed to tell her the good news.

"Hello, who is it?" the person on the other line answered me.

"Hey Bea it's me, Kiara," I said.

"Kia, Why did you call?"

"I have good news," I promise.

"What's that?"

"My brother agreed to let you work for him." I am energetic.

"Really? How?"

"I told you that I will take care of it, right? But I just want to tell you, being his secretary is not permanent because that's what he told me. He will still hire another one soon." I promise.

"It's okay Kia, I understand. Thank you anyway because somehow I will have a temporary job."

"Go to his office tomorrow and please don't be late because he doesn't want to be kept waiting for him," I promised.

After telling her that, I hung up and went to bed. Nigel suddenly entered my mind, I miss him. It's been a month since we broke up, I tried going to the bar and hanging out to forget what happened to us but I still always remember him. It's my fault why we ended up like this.

Later my phone rang, I picked it up and my eyes widened when I saw the name of the person I was thinking about.

"N-Nigel?" I stammered at his name when I answered it.

"How are you Princess?" he asked me.

"I'm fine, still alive and kicking. How about you?" I answered him.

"I'm okay, I've just been a little busy these past few weeks."

"Good to hear that," I said.

"Ah, Princess, I want to talk to you."

"Nig, if it's about the engagement you don't need to worry about it," I said.

"It's not about it. I will not call off the engagement we have Princess. That's why I called just to talk to you."

"W-what do you mean?" I asked him.

"I'll be home next week. So, see you."

"Really?" I said.

"Yes, I'll just finish the projects here and I'll go home after that."

"I thought you'll be staying there for good already," I said.

"Is that possible? Our company's main branch is there. You know I wouldn't have come here if Dad hadn't gotten sick."

"I know, I just thought you wouldn't come back," I promise.

"How can't I go back if my fiance is waiting for me,"

"May I remind you that we already broke up? You didn't even call me for almost a month." I said I was full of resentment.

"We didn't break up, cool-off is different from the breakup, okay? And one more thing, I used that time to finish the projects here, but I know what's going on with you there and I know what you're doing."

"W-what?" I exclaimed because no one else would tell him but my brother. After all, they were best friends.

"I don't like what you do Princess."

"I'm sorry about it, I'm just sad about what happened so I did those things to somehow forget," I explained to him.

We both talked for almost a few hours before we said goodbye to each other because it was late and we had to go to sleep.

He is Nigel Monteverde, my fiance, he is the son of Uncle Dark and Aunt Calliyah, he is also my brother's best friend so he used to be at home often until we became close and he started courting me. Everything was not easy for him because my brother was very protective.
