Chapter 5

Storm POV

I'm currently in my office even though it's only 7 am. I often go in early so I don't get overwhelmed with work.

I remembered what my sister was saying again, why does Kiara trust her like that? I know she helped my sister last time but for her to bring her into my company is surprising.

My sister is kind but she is not easy to trust and even if I don't want the favor she is asking for I can't do anything but agree.

Yes, I am heartless to other people but when it comes to my sister I am different. I will just give that woman a chance and I know my sister already told her that if I don't like how she works, I will fire her immediately and I still need to hire someone.

Later I heard a knock on my door. Maybe this is what Kiara is saying to me." Come in,"

The door immediately opened and a woman entered, she was beautiful. "Good morning Mr. Alcantara." She greeted me.

"Are you what my sister is talking about?" I asked her.

"Yes, I am,"

"Sit down," I ordered her and she immediately obeyed.

"Maybe you already know what your job will be because Kiara has already told you right? I'll tell you the truth, I don't want you to be my secretary, I just gave my sister a chance so I hope you do your job properly because I don't want to waste my time and money on lazy people. Is that clear?" I promise.

"I don't want to force myself here either Sir, I'm just too shy to reject Kiara and I really need a job for my mother," she answered.

I didn't expect her to answer me, she seemed to be hostile.

"That's good to hear that. And maybe she also mentioned to you that your work is still temporary, maybe you can work in another department or my sister's boutique soon but not be my secretary anymore. You probably know the policy that I have, so I hope you understand that I can't just hire my secretary who has no experience and doesn't meet the requirements I want." I know straight away.

"Yes Sir, she already explained to me about that matter last night and there is no problem with me. I just really need a job right now.”

"My sister also mentioned to me about your sick mom, she needs to undergo an operation right?" I asked her and she nodded.

"Yes, that's why I accepted Kiara's offer to me."

I sighed. "Just make sure you take care of your work because I can fire you anytime. And I hope you don't take advantage of my sister's kindness because the moment I find out I can send you to jail." I told her.

"Don't worry Sir because I'm not that kind of person, I can't take advantage of the person who helped me."

"Good to hear that. Since you will be working as my secretary for now, you must not miss anything in my schedule, especially in my meetings, it must be updated every day. Is that clear?" I said.

"Yes Sir."

"I will help you pay for the operation of your mother. Is that okay with you?" I asked her.

"I-I haven't started working yet Sir. Your offer is embarrassing."

"No need to worry about it, I know your mother needs surgery before everything gets worse. And also so that you can focus on work without worrying about anything. I know that's the reason you're working. I'll cut it all to your salary." I explained to her.

"Thank you very much, Sir Storm."

“I am doing this thing for my sister, you should thank her,” I said.

She nodded and I immediately told her to start today and to update my schedules for tomorrow because I don't have a meeting today.

Beatrice POV

I'm currently sitting at my desk today. I still can't believe that I can work at Alcantara Company even though I haven't graduated from college. I owe a lot to Kiara even if it's only temporarily.

I finally met and saw Storm up close, he is handsome as many women say but he is arrogant and straightforward when he speaks. Looks like I need to get used to his behavior.

Lunch came and Sir didn't order me anything so I got up and knocked on his office. "What is it Bea?" he asked but his eyes remained focused on the laptop.

"It's lunchtime Sir, shall I buy you food?" I ask.

"I'm still full, just buy me a cheesecake and a frappe at Starbucks after you have lunch," he promised.

I returned to my seat and took my bag to go to the cafeteria of this company. When I got there, I stood in line to buy food. The prices of the dishes here are very high but I have no choice but to buy them because I don't want to go hungry.

After buying, I sat down at the empty table and started eating. "Miss, can we share a table?" I looked at a woman in front of me and when I saw her face, my eyes widened.

"Nicole?"

"Bea?"

"Gosh! It's you!" she promised enthusiastically.

"I didn't expect to see you here," I promised her. She is my best friend in college.

"Even though I was surprised, I didn't know you were working here because I just saw you today."

"Because I just started," I said.

"You are sulking, do you know how many times I went to your old house but you are no longer there,"

"I'm sorry, my father died so we have to move to a smaller house," I explained to her.

"Awww, I didn't even know Uncle was gone. But I'm happy because we met again. What department are you assigned to?"

"I am Mr. Alcantara's secretary," I answered her.

Her eyes widened. "Seriously? Oh my friend, good luck to you and your work."

"Yes, it's true, I heard that he doesn't have a long-term secretary, but I won't be with him permanently because he'll find someone to replace me. Maybe he'll transfer me to someone else, I don't know yet." I said.

"That's because he is strict with employees. That's why you know he won't be able to find a new secretary right away so you'll have to wait a little longer. Some of his secretaries want to flirt with him and not do their work properly so they get fired.

You know, our boss is serious about life and doesn't care about the surroundings and then has a hot head,"

"I agree! That's why he doesn't like lazy people at work because he doesn't want to waste money on useless things." I said.

Nicole laughed because of what I said and then we continued eating while talking. I'm happy because after a few years, we met again, she was my only friend who accepted me completely and of course, I also trusted her.
