Chapter 2: Bound By Feral Heat

The noise of the banquet faded behind me, swallowed up by the towering, ancient pines of the Obsidian Reach.

I knew where I was heading, even if my brain couldn't quite explain it. Deep within the forbidden royal sanctuary lay the Whispering Pool, a mystical pond hidden in the thickest part of the forest. Old pack legends claimed its silver waters were touched by the Moon Goddess herself, capable of purifying curses and unlocking dormant gifts. Tonight, I was drawn here by an overwhelming, magnetic pull in my chest, an invisible thread tugging at my very soul, leading me deeper through the thick fog.

With every step I took away from the Silver Moon Pack, the lingering sting of Brandon’s pathetic insult faded. I was no longer the weak, desperate girl trying to fit into a tiny mold designed by an insecure Alpha. But beneath the cool night air, my new blood burned like liquid fire. My throat felt scraped raw, dry as ash, burning for a single drop of something warm and fresh.

The air grew icy cold, shimmering with floating particles of pale blue light. The forest wasn't just quiet; it was ancient, breathing with a dark, primal magic that vibrated through the damp earth beneath my dress. My heels sank into the soft moss, forcing me to slip them off and throw them aside. I kept moving, guided by a low, rhythmic thrumming sound that resonated directly inside my skull.

My senses exploded into overdrive. In my past life, my wolf spirit had been weak, barely capable of night vision. But tonight, the pitch-black forest bloomed in sharp, crystalline shades of amber and dark red. I could hear the frantic rhythm of a deer’s heart hundreds of yards away. I could smell the iron-rich blood pulsing through its veins.

Hunger.

My breath hitched as my gums throbbed with a sharp, agonizing ache. I pressed my hand over my mouth, my lower lip trembling as two razor-sharp, white fangs extended downward over my lip before slowly retracting.

What am I becoming? My mind screamed. Wolves don't crave blood like this!

Then, the trees cleared.

The Whispering Pool stretched before me, its surface liquid silver beneath the pale moonlight. The water didn't ripple like normal water; it pulsed with a faint glow, reflecting starlight in patterns that looked almost like ancient runes.

Clang!

A sharp screech of snapping steel shattered the quiet, followed by the heavy thud of metal striking stone.

I froze, my breath catching in my throat. Across the pool, shrouded in thick mist, stood a towering silhouette against an ancient stone archway. Giant iron chains, links as thick as a man's arm, lay shattered at his feet, glowing bright orange from sheer heat.

"Get... out..." a voice roared.

It wasn't human. It wasn't even a normal wolf. It was a deep, chest-rattling growl that sent shockwaves through the air, vibrating right against my skin and shaking the needles from the surrounding trees.

Before I could draw a single breath, the shadow moved.

He moved at impossible, blinding speed, a blur of raw power. Heavy, burning hands slammed into the stone pillar behind me, trapping me instantly between his broad arms. The impact cracked the solid rock above my head, dropping fine stone dust onto my bare shoulders.

I gasped, my head snapping up as I recognized that face.

King Salvatore Throne.

At twenty-nine, the Lycan King was a creature of myth and terror across the entire realm. Stories spoke of his ruthless dominance, his refusal to answer to any council, and the terrifying strength of his royal Lycan bloodline. But right now, he didn't look like a polished king sitting on a throne; he looked like a god consumed by absolute madness.

His shirt was torn to shreds, hanging off his frame and revealing a massive, heavily muscled chest laced with luminescent, glowing golden runes. Sweat glistened on his skin, radiating an intoxicating heat so intense it felt like standing in front of an open furnace.

His eyes were burning amber, blazing like liquid gold, and his messy, dirty blond hair fell wildly over his forehead. He was in the middle of the Feral Fever, the deadly, uncontrollable Lycan Heat.

In the pack stories, a Lycan during his heat was a mindless monster who tore apart anything in his path. Normal female wolves would be crushed instantly by the sheer weight of his aura, their spirits breaking under his dominance. Yet as Salvatore loomed over me, his massive six-foot-five frame blocking out the moon, my body didn't tremble with fear.

Instead, a surge of deep, dark warmth erupted from within my core. The coldness I had carried since my execution melted away under his intense heat.

Salvatore leaned down, burying his face into the crook of my neck. He took a long, ragged inhale, his broad chest shuddering hard against mine. The tip of his nose brushed against my collarbone, sending a jolt of electricity straight down my spine.

"What... are you?" he choked out, his voice thick with agony and feral lust. His body flexed, dark veins pulsing visibly against his neck as his inner beast fought violently for control. "Your scent... it’s consuming me."

"I..." My breath hitched as his burning hand slid down my torso to my waist. His large fingers dug possessively into the full, soft curve of my hip, anchoring me to him.

The moment his bare skin touched mine, a violent shockwave of golden light burst from my chest, colliding with his glowing golden runes. The blinding magic flooded the entire clearing, turning the mist to liquid sun and illuminating the dark forest for miles.

Salvatore let out a deep, guttural groan, his amber eyes snapping wide open. The chaotic fever in his gaze faltered, replacing itself with absolute clarity. His beast didn't want to destroy me, it wanted to submit to me.

"Not just a wolf," Salvatore whispered, his gaze locking onto mine with an intensity that made my knees buckle. His large, hot palm cupped the back of my neck, tilting my head up while his thumb traced the curve of my lower lip. "A vessel built for a King."

His thumb pulled down my lower lip, and his amber eyes narrowed as he caught the glint of my white fangs retracting into my gums.

For a fraction of a second, shock flickered across his lethal features. He caught the subtle, metallic scent underlying my wolf aura. But instead of drawing back in disgust or horror, a dark, dangerous smirk carved across his handsome face.

His chest heaved against my full breasts. He didn't look at my curves with judgment. His eyes roamed over my hips, my bust, and my waist with a dark, primal hunger that made my skin flush.

"A lost girl in my woods..." Salvatore growled, his lips brushing against mine, hot and trembling with restraint. "You smell like a wolf, but you also smell like forbidden magic. Tell me to stop, little female, or I will claim every inch of you tonight and never let you go."

As the rhythm of his royal pulse echoed directly against my cheek, my gums throbbed with a violent, intoxicating ache. My blood thrummed in response to his lethal warmth, recognizing that this terrifying king wasn't my destroyer, he was my sanctuary.

"Don't stop," I whispered.

The royal suite was a sanctuary of dark mahogany, crushed crimson velvet, and shimmering obsidian stone. Soft sunlight poured through the floor-to-ceiling arched windows, but the towering presence of King Salvatore made the massive room feel impossibly small. He hadn't stepped away from me for even a second. His knee remained planted firmly on the mattress between my thighs, his massive body casting a broad shadow over me as his hand gently smoothed the tangled strands of hair away from my face. His amber-silver eyes scanned every line of my features, hungry and unyielding, as if checking to ensure I hadn't magically vanished."Your body is exhausted," Salvatore growled softly, his voice a low, gravelly vibration. He slid his large palms under my knees, lifting my legs onto the bed before sweeping the heavy velvet cloak away.I gasped softly as the cool morning air hit my exposed skin. My dress was completely ruined, shredded beyond repair from the feral night in the sanctuary pool. B

The courtyard below fell into a deathly, suffocating silence.Alpha Brandon stood frozen beneath the balcony, his jaw slack, his eyes wide with utter disbelief as he stared up at me. The sight of me, draped in King Salvatore’s personal black velvet cloak, leaning flush against the Lycan King’s massive frame, with the glowing royal crest burning brightly on my collarbone, seemed to break his mind.Clara, beside him, let out a choked, hysterical gasp. Her face turned as pale as chalk, her hands trembling violently as she clutched Brandon’s arm. "B-Brandon... her neck... that's the royal mark! How is that possible?!"Brandon swallowed hard, his throat bobbing as he tried to reconcile the woman he had publicly humiliated last night with the female standing beside the realm’s deadliest monarch."Jennifer?" Brandon stammered, his voice lacking every drop of the arrogant authority he had flexed just moments ago. "What... what are you doing up there? Why are you wearing that?"I didn't answer

The cool morning mist hovered over the glowing waters of the Whispering Pool as the first rays of golden sunlight filtered through the dense forest canopy.I lay completely breathless against Salvatore’s massive, heavily muscled chest. His broad muscular arms were wrapped tightly around my waist, keeping my soft, full body flush against his warm skin. The terrifying, chaotic fever that had possessed him all night had finally receded, replaced by a deep, absolute calm.A sharp, throbbing heat radiated from my left collarbone. I reached up with trembling fingers, trying to pull the torn silk of my dress over my chest to cover myself, but the fabric was shredded.Salvatore woke up; his gaze dropped, his dark eyes locked intensely onto my skin. Right above my heart, an intricate crest of a crowned Lycan encircled by glowing crescent moons was burning softly into my flesh. The mark of the Lycan King.A dark, slow smirk spread across his handsome face as he watched me struggle to hide."Wha

My heart thumped wildly against my ribs, echoing in the heavy, suffocating silence that fell between us. I could die if I said yes. A Lycan's heat was no joke. Most of the time, she-wolves ended up dying. But a part of me wanted to give in to him.Salvatore’s massive chest rose and fell in jagged, violent heaves, his burning amber eyes searching my face with a terrifying mix of feral hunger and desperate restraint. His broad, calloused hand remained pinned against the small of my back, his long fingers biting deep into the full, soft flesh of my hips as if he were afraid I would dissolve back into the thick forest mist if he let go for even a single second. He was giving me a choice. The deadliest Lycan in the entire realm, a monster who could snap my neck with two fingers, was trembling beneath the crushing weight of his own heat, waiting for my permission. In my first life, I had spent years begging an insecure Alpha for breadcrumbs of affection, apologizing for taking up space, and

My heart hammered against my ribs like a trapped beast as I stared into the full-length mirror. The cold iron chains, the bone-snapping blow to my jaw, Clara’s sharp heel grinding into my bleeding cheek, and the suffocating drop from the gallows, it had all vanished. My skin was smooth, pale, and untouched. No rope burn. No bruises.I was standing in my dressing room at the Silver Moon Packhouse, wrapped in a deep emerald velvet gown that clung tightly to every rich, voluptuous curve of my body. My heavy breasts overflowed the tight corset, my waist dipped sharply, and my hips flared out with plush, soft weight.I was twenty again. This was the night of the annual Grand Alliance Banquet. The night Alpha Brandon was supposed to announce our official betrothal as his mate, but instead chose to publicly humiliate me before the entire realm.A cold, deadly calm washed over the horror of my memories. They thought my curves were a flaw? They thought my soft body made me weak? In my first li
