Maya's POV

“Why didn’t you tell me?.” I asked as I stood in the centre of Chase's bedroom with my arms wrapped tightly around my torso, my mind securely blocked from his.

Chase closed the door and turned to me, his expression solemn.

“Gerald's condition is not stable and I didn’t want you to feel worse if things eventually went south.”

“I doubt it's possible for me to feel worse than I've felt these past few days. You knew the person who helped was Gerald and that he had survived yet you didn’t tell me in case things went south?”

“But I'm telling you now, isn't that enough?”

“You're telling me days later because you’ve had some mystical change of heart.” The fact that I had felt so close to him just last night made his deception hurt more.

“We freaking mated and all the while you were keeping this from me? What would you have done if something had gone wrong? Would have just kept lying to my face forever?”
