I fiddled with the bow, looking up at him from under my lashes.
"What is it?" I asked.
He smiled slightly. "Find out."
I opened it gingerly, trying not to do too much damage to the Frosty the Snowman wrapping paper. I took the top off the box and saw just what I was afraid of. A ring.

He looked startled. "Well… that's not the reaction that I was hoping for…"
