Chapter 133 Straighten Your Spine

“From now on, you’ll stay here.” Sean led Jane back to the 28th floor of East Emperor, adding, “I’ve already submitted your resignation letter for this place. Once you join Stewart Industries, you’ll just have to stick with me.”

“I was doing fine with my job!” She glared at him. What right did he have to make that decision for her?

“Oh, really? Do you really think a job selling your services to men is ‘fine’ by you? Jane, even if you wanted to keep working there, I don’t want you to.”

Jane wanted to laugh… What about before? Who was the one who transferred her to the PR department in the first place?

Seriously… How hilarious!

“Mr. Stewart, that wasn’t what you said back then, was it? You were the one who put me in the PR department, remember?” Jane said through clenched teeth. “You were the one who put me to it back then, so why don’t you want me working there now?”

Sean gave Jane a complicated look. “Do you really want to know?” Jane did not say anything, so Sean continued calmly, “You’ll know soon enough.”

“But I don’t want…”

“Jane Dunn, are you happy when you’re doing that job?”

Was she happy…? Jane paused.

Sean turned and left with those words, leaving Jane alone behind him… As time went on, she understood him less and less.

There was one part of him that had not changed, though.

That was how he did whatever he wanted. His every decision was a decree!

That was the part of him she hated the most… It was just like how she was guilty just because he said she was!

Even to this day, until this moment, she was still powerless to resist him!

“What on earth… do you want me to do?!”

That afternoon, he did his work in his study, while Jane stared into space in the living room… She knew what she had to do after this.

It was the same plan... She had to escape!

An idea was already forming in her head.

Sean’s actions were growing stranger by the day. She did not understand what he was up to, but she naturally sensed that it was dangerous. Similarly, she did not have much time to waste, so she had to plan this out carefully.

That night after they had dinner, he went back to his study and only reemerged from it after nine o’clock.

When he found Jane in the living room, he said calmly, “You can take the bedroom. I’ll sleep on the couch.

Jane stood up without a word and walked into the bedroom… The more he acted this way, the more afraid and unnerved she felt.

The next day.

He threw another suit at Jane and took her to the doors of Stewart Tower again, making her decide once more. “Come in here and join me at the meeting or turn around and go back to the suite at East Emperor.”

The moment Jane turned around, though, Sean reached out his hand and used just a bit of strength to pull her through the doors.

“Mr. Stewart, you told me I could choose!”

“That I did.” The man seemed unfazed.

“You’re going back on your word,” she said, keeping her voice low.

“You can throw me off right now and leave. It’s all the same.”

No, it was not! He had already dragged her now, and all the eyes were looking at her, especially because “he” was the one dragging her inside!

If she threw him off now and ran off on her own… She did not have the guts to run from here to the curb while all these people watched and wondered.

All she could do was bury her head in her chest again, forcing herself to follow behind him. Her logic was that once she entered the elevator, those gazes and whispers would naturally disappear.

“You’ll have to face this sooner or later. Raise your head, Dunn, and straighten your spine. Is it really that scary?”

Yes, of course it was!

Sean’s hand rested on Jane’s back, applying some force to press her forward, straightening Jane’s bent spine. She was about to say something when she heard the man’s low and mesmerizing command. “Go.”

She involuntarily obeyed. The entire time, the palm on her back never once left.

Just like that, the man and woman walked through the lobby as everyone watched, stuck in such a suggestive pose as they headed into the CEO’s private elevator.

The moment the elevator doors closed, Jane saw so many pairs of disbelieving eyes looking her way. She was startled again and almost instinctively lowered her head… I-If any of them recognized her…

Ding-dong.

The elevator stopped. When the doors opened, Jane was reluctant to go out, but Sean’s hand on her back meant she had no choice. She walked out of the elevator stiffly.

They walked all the way into the CEO’s office. As soon as they were inside, Jane heaved a huge sigh of relief. In here, nobody stared at her like they did on the way here, and that put her heart slightly at ease.

“There are books over there, help yourself. ‘Ll be at a meeting.”

Jane was slightly stunned to see Sean turn and leave the office just like that, leaving her alone here.

She looked around. The decor here was not that different from how it had been three years ago. The man’s style had not changed.

After spending two consecutive nights in that man’s bedroom, she had not had a single wink of sleep over the past two days. As soon as she sat on the couch, it was not long before her weariness took over. Her body tilted to a side, and she fell asleep on the couch.

About an hour later, the door opened soundlessly.

The man stood at the door and immediately saw the woman asleep on the couch. He was surprised for a second but soon he walked to the couch and stood in front of it for a while, taking a good long look at the woman in front of her. It was probably because of the cold, but the person on the couch did not sleep particularly soundly. She gradually curled up into a ball.

His long fingers undid his shirt and put it over her body, but when he approached her, he heard a murmur.

“Luka…”

His hand holding his shirt paused. There was a tinge of frost on his brow.

So she was still thinking about Zach Lucas… Her love for him ran that deep, huh?

The man’s lips curved woodenly and not without a hint of irony.

If that was the case, then what about Haydn Soros?

Sean knew about the relationship between Haydn and Zach.

There was a flash in his eyes as Sean wondered, “When you say Luca… do you mean Zach Lucas?”

“Luka… Sorry…”

Of course, Jane was not going to reply to Sean. She was asleep.

Sean frowned slightly and suddenly stood up, walking out of his office and going to a small conference room nearby. There, he took out his phone and gave Zach Lucas a call. “It’s me, Sean Stewart.”

Zach was occupied with work right now, but there was surprise in his eyes. “Mr. Stewart, to what do I owe this honor? Please, tell me.” Zach did not waste time either, going straight to the point.

Sean was even more direct. “What is your relationship with Jane Dunn?”

In truth, that question kind of came out of nowhere.

Even someone as level-headed as Zach was taken by surprise. He blinked for a second before replying, “I met her once.”

He could not help but wonder why Sean Stewart was suddenly asking him this.

The next second, the man on the phone said, “Just once, was it? You must have left quite an impact on her, then, because she called you ‘Luca’ several times in her sleep.”

“Cough! Cough cough cough cough…” Zach had been drinking some water and nearly choked on it. Hurriedly, he explained, “You mustn’t say something like that without reason, Mr. Stewart. Miss Dunn is Haydn’s paramour, and as they say, bros before hoes. I haven’t stooped so low as to touch my friend’s girl.”
