Chapter 0004

Rosalyn:

I need Anthony at the courtroom this Friday at any cost. I cannot afford to put off this matter any longer. Anthony needs to be there either by hook or by nook.

I sent the pictures which I took in the office to Anthony to remind him of our appointment. If he does not show up this time, I am going to release them to the public.

Anthony has been blowing up my phone ever since I left his office but I ignored all his calls.

I am going back to work in the Campbell group tomorrow which is why I made the appointment in the courthouse on Friday.

In my previous life, the one I used to live before hitting my head on the staircase I used up all of the funds Campbell Group had to save Anthony’s company Relish Group. Exhaustion of funds led to the decline of my own company.

I prioritized Relish Group over Campbell Group. My company was going downhill quickly and I could not do anything to save it. I was helpless. But now my hands aren’t tied anymore and I am not going to repeat my mistakes. I am going to right each of my wrongs.

My grandfather had been in poor health for some time. His condition kept on deteriorating to the point he had to be hospitalized. He wanted to see me, his favorite granddaughter.

He called me multiple times asking me to come and meet him but I was just so busy with Anthony running all his errands, trying to make him happy and I couldn’t find the time to go.

Before he p*ssed away, he called me one last time but I missed it because I was busy buying the pastry Anthony wanted. I couldn’t meet him, couldn’t see his face, couldn’t hear him talk, couldn’t see him smile one last time. I still regret it to this day.

Life has given me a second chance to guard my company and my grandfather. My rebirth is for a reason.

I am going back to work. Jitters are creeping in because it has been so long. I haven’t stepped into the company ever since I got married to Anthony.

It was supposed to be a short break due to my wanting to focus on my marriage. A short break turned into a long one and years p*ssed in a blur. Despite my absence, I had been the nominal vice CEO meaning I am still the official vice CEO on paper and I can go back whenever I want.

After doing breathing exercises to calm my fast-beating heart I entered the building. Nostalgia hit me everything still looks the same.

Although in this life it has been only 1 year, in reality, I have come here after 3 years. I step inside my office and just as I was about to sit down, my door popped open and my dear Uncle Ray barged inside just the last person I wanted to see right now. I groaned internally.

How did he find me so quickly? Although he is related to me by blood, he doesn’t harbor even an ounce of affection for me. Feelings are mutual in this regard. He is greedy and wants to be the sole owner of this company.

In my absence, he took over. In my last life, one of the crucial reasons for our company’s decline was Ray’s incompetency. He lacks a business brain but he pretends otherwise.

To change the future of the company, the first thing I need to do is get over his arrogance. It is doing no good to me or the company.

“Dear niece, to what do I owe the pleasure,”

He asks cheerfully. He is very enthusiastic for a person who does not like me.

“I am coming back to the company” His face instantly turned sour.

“May I ask why?”

“I am in charge of the new project and I have already asked Grandpa for permission he has given me the green signal” Ray has start laughing loudly and said mockingly.

“I don’t think it is something in your expertise leave the work to the big guys like us you go to your house take care of it and tend to your husband.” A smile came on my face.

“Uncle may I ask how your collaboration with the Giant Group.” His expressions is making me laugh but I suppressed it putting on a serious face.

“I am working on it.”

“Uncle I know you couldn’t negotiate the deal despite knowing how important it was for the company.” I walk a few steps away from him and turn my face back towards him and spoke out loud.

“Instead of giving me free advice about what I should do why don’t you use this brain and focus on your work. Be concerned about your career, I know what is good for me” His nostrils flared.

“Don’t fly so high Anthony will never agree to you coming back to the company.”

“Good thing, I don’t need his permission.” His eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

“What do you mean by that?” His expression becomes more interesting.

“This means I am ending my marriage with Anthony; he no longer has a say in what I should do and what I shouldn’t.” Uncle Ray’s mouth parted open in shock. He couldn’t believe what he was hearing far as he knew old Rosalyn is crazy about Anthony, she cannot leave him.

He came out of Rosalyn’s office while taking a call.

I heard him was yelling to the phone, “Rosalyn says she's divorcing Anthony. Find out if that's true!”

I am so tired my back hurts from sitting down for so long. Each of my muscles aches, I just want to go home and sleep. I leave my office and the whole building is nearly deserted looks like everyone left.

I go to the parking for my car and spotted Anthony sitting in his limousine parked near my car. He has not spotted me yet, his attention on his phone.
