Chapter 93

Author: Yummy Pineapple
Thanks to William’s insight, inspiration had come flooding in. Nina quickly finished her sketches, pouring her entire creative vision into each line.

With her meeting with Mr. Norman just around the corner, she had three goals for the day.

First, she planned to visit a few high-end boutiques to study how luxury designers chose their materials. She needed to buy fabric for her upcoming “Rebirth” collection.

Second, she had invited William to lunch to thank him for his help.

And third, she just wanted to clear her head.

She had made a reservation in advance and now stood outside the restaurant, waiting.

Five minutes later, she spotted him.

“Over here,” she called, smiling as she walked toward him.

It was a weekday afternoon. The sun was strong, and the sidewalks were fairly empty. Focused on him, Nina didn’t notice the teenager racing toward her on a bike.

By the time she sensed danger, it was too late to move. Her breath caught, and she instinctively clutched her stomach.

Nina blushed again. At this rate, she was blushing more now than she ever had while actually dating someone. The only problem? The office windows were crystal clear. Anyone passing by could see everything happening inside. And William’s body? It was something out of a sculpture gallery—lean, defined, and effortlessly masculine. No wonder the nurses walking by kept sneaking glances, some wide-eyed with admiration, others not even trying to hide it.One of the bolder ones, a young nurse named Haley, went so far as to open the door and step inside. Her cheeks were tinged pink as she cast several not-so-subtle looks in William’s direction.“Dr. Gibson,” she said, trying to sound professional, “do you need any assistance?”Her intentions were crystal clear.Nadia shot her a look. She had put in serious effort setting this moment up for Nina. It was the perfect chance to spark something. There was no way she was going to let someone else swoop in now.“Haley,” she said evenly, “if I r

Inside the office, Nadia slipped on a pair of medical gloves. “Nina, help Mr. Lawson take off his jacket.”“What?” Nina blinked and pointed at herself. “Me?”Nadia shot her a look that said, “Obviously.”“He’s injured around the waist,” she explained. “And from the tear in his jacket, the bleeding’s already starting to soak through. He shouldn’t move too much, or the wound could reopen.”She nodded toward the layers of clothing. “Besides, how am I supposed to treat it if I can’t even see it?”Nina hesitated, then stepped forward and carefully helped William out of his jacket.Clothes might cover the body, but they didn’t hide much else.Beneath the thin white shirt, the lines of his physique were still visible—broad shoulders, defined chest, and a chiseled eight-pack that peeked through the fabric just enough to stir the imagination. His body was pure temptation, barely held in check. It was dangerously mesmerizing. It hit even harder than what she had seen at the hotel that

As soon as they got into the car, the driver glanced at them in the rearview mirror and asked casually, “You two alright back there? Looked like you bumped into each other just now.”That one sentence hit Nina like a jolt. The moment she had tried so hard to forget came rushing back in full force—wave after wave, unstoppable. Every heartbeat, every breath, every movement played in her mind like a high-definition film on loop. Her cheeks turned bright red. “We’re… we’re fine.”The driver chuckled, completely unaware of the tension in the air. “Good to hear. That’s all that matters.”Nina risked a glance at William beside her, only to meet his gaze—deep, steady, and unreadable. It was the kind of look that pulled her in like a quiet lake hidden deep in the woods.William couldn’t take his eyes off Nina’s face. She looked so small, so soft, so incredibly alluring. And her lips—plump, flushed, impossibly inviting. In that moment, all sense of restraint and propriety nearly vanishe

The moment their lips touched, it felt like an electric current shot up Nina’s spine, surging from her tailbone straight to her head. Her mind went blank. She couldn’t hear anything—just the deafening thunder of her own heartbeat.Thump.Thump.Thump.So loud, it felt like it was about to burst right out of her chest. His hot breath brushed against her ear, and Nina scrambled off him in a panic, using both hands and feet. Her entire face turned as red as a ripe tomato.“Mr. Lawson…” she stammered, unable to look him in the eye. Her gaze darted everywhere, too flustered to form a coherent sentence. Her whole body felt like it was on fire, burning from the inside out. She couldn’t sit still, couldn’t think straight.Aside from Miles, William was the only other man she had ever been this close to.That kiss back then hadn’t counted. It was mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, done to save his life. But this time was different. This was an accident.Nina snapped out of her daze and

Yvonne's newly purchased handbag lay carelessly discarded on the ground. As the two of them left, the fire in her heart burned hotter and hotter, nearly consuming her entirely.“Day after day, what kind of people am I running into? That bitch Nina is definitely cursing me!” she muttered. Her eyes blazed with rage as she pulled out her phone. She looked at the dozens of photos she had just taken and the several minutes of audio recording, her expression growing dark. She couldn't let Miles be bewitched by Nina any longer. In the rideshare car, Nina looked apologetic. “Mr. Lawson, I've dragged you into this mess again.”If it weren't for protecting her, William wouldn't have had to deal with all this. If it weren't for her, he wouldn't have been misunderstood and cursed at so harshly by Yvonne in the street.William shook his head. “It's not your problem.”Nina's heart didn't feel any better because of his words. It seemed like she was always unintentionally creating trouble for

“A walking curse?” Nina still remembered the days when Yvonne used to smile the moment she saw her. Her eyes would light up with satisfaction. “Nina, meeting you is the best thing that's ever happened to Miles,” she used to say. “He must have done something incredible in a past life to deserve someone like you.” But now, her words had turned vile. Every sentence cut deeper, until even Nina's patience finally snapped.Without hesitation, she raised her hand and slapped Yvonne hard across the mouth, the same mouth that had been spewing filth nonstop. Her eyes blazed with fury. “Mrs. Jackson,” Nina said through gritted teeth, “I used to respect you because of Miles. But don't mistake kindness for weakness.“You keep throwing around 'three years ago, three years ago.' Yes, I remember. Miles did help clear my family's name back then. I've never denied that. But have you all forgotten what my parents did for you when they were still alive?”Her voice shook with rage. “Mavis Miller i
