My Next Door Mate 4

CHAPTER FOUR

"Are you okay?" Lisa asked when Stephanie, the neighbor lady in front of her with wide smiles staggered and held her chest. She was astonished to know that a neighbor actually came to wish her a happy birthday. It was admirable.

"Son of a b-" Stephanie almost cursed Ryan.

"Say it" she could hear Ryan laugh.

"Yes I'm okay" Stephanie replied Lisa with another smile but Lisa wasn't even looking anymore. Lisa's heart had skipped to see who was at her door, present at her party, she turned back to look at her friends and she was glad they also noticed, they urged her to go and welcome him and she smiled.

"If you don't mind, excuse me?" Lisa said to Stephanie and walked out of her face as she approached the tall, slender but built masculine finesse at her door. Lisa didn't know how to describe how she felt seeing the basketball leader in school at her party without the witch with him. It was heaven to welcome him alone.

"Thought you wouldn't come" Lisa grinned at him, flickering her brows a bit, she was shy and nervous. She offered him a shake and he received it warmly.

"I wouldn't miss it for anything," Dan replied to her with a sweet smile. She had especially given him the boffo invite after watching him play with the highschool seniors and as usual he had won. Running to hand him a towel before the witch did, she was opportune to finally have a direct talk with Dan approaching him with her birthday offer. She had dressed her best to watch him play that day and luckily Dan promised to be at the party. He was so easy and friendly to talk to that she started regretting why she hadn't taken the courage to talk to him all this while.

She had remembered the witch had seen her hand him the invite and that moment she felt on top of the world seeing how furious the witch's eyes were.

Dan looked around and searched the room with his eyes like he had misplaced something. "Only a few people?" he asked, noticing how empty the party looked. He was expecting to see the whole school turn up, well so was Lisa.

"Yeah, yeah. The party is just starting" Lisa replied defensively, her palm sweating from too much anxiety. What if no one attended? A part of her was still rest assured though, since the highschool Dan was here, why wouldn't anyone want to attend.

"Guess I'm early then." he said.

"-which gives us time to get to know each other" Lisa chipped in immediately and grabbing his hands, she welcomed him into her house, directing him to a single couch just at one side of the room. Letting him take the lead, she turns over to her friends who had been staring and in unison they give her a thumbs up and she winks back at them giddily, rushing to meet up with Dan. She was with the most popular, finest and intelligent highschool champ. What a great way to start her 18th new life.

"Highschool" Standing akimbo, Stephanie clicked her tongue and shook her head after carefully watching the scene. "I've been there," she said confidently to no one. She looked around again, it would be wasted effort if she stayed and requested for the music to be turned off. Ryan needed to bear a little longer, maybe throughout the night, this was a party and music is the life of a party. What's the worst that could happen? A pool of blood?. He could handle it. Thinking back to Ryan, she frowned, he almost ripped her heart out when he suddenly mind linked her in front of the birthday girl almost making her look stupid. After several warnings, she was certain Ryan could never stop mind linking her without her permission.

Walking out of Lisa's apartment, Stephanie goes back to Ryan's room and enters, she closes the door behind her. But the room was dark and she wondered why Ryan kept deliberately pissing her off every single time, he knew how much she hated the dark! This was probably revenge for not convincing Lisa at all. Moving slowly to the side of the wall, she switches on the light back.

"Ryan?" she called out to him walking slowly and suspiciously, looking around the room. "If you meant to scare me by switching off the light, then you failed, ha!" she says again backing it up with a laugh. It appeared this wasn't the first time Ryan was playing pranks. She didn't hear any response from him. "Seriously Ryan, not now" she said carefully watching her back, she finally reached his bed and no one was there either. "Where are you?" She frowned.

"In the bathroom '' Using his mind link to communicate again, he replied to her, although his voice was calmer this time which was the normal Ryan's voice, but Stephanie was still worried he was hurt since the music was still at its peak.

"Well, Thank God, you hadn't bled to death, why are you not talking? Are you okay?" She sits on his bed, tapping her legs on the floor continuously while waiting patiently for him to get out of the bathroom. "Do you want me to come in? There's nothing surprising anymore by the way-" she stifles a flirty laugh.

The door creaks and Ryan immediately pops his head out of the door, Stephanie stiff seeing Ryan in his wolf form, his long hard nails clenched to the bathroom door that would surely leave a scratch with that grip, his eyes hot red and there was a burning glare from each corners, his fangs were longer than his previous turns that Stephanie had witnessed and surprisingly he growls harshly at her.

"Ryan?" She called out with a whimper, holding the sheet of the bed tightly as she adjusted herself.

"Run!" She heard him mind link her.
