Lydia

I have never felt so afraid. I panicked, my heart and chest tightened, fear burned my throat, closing it. I could taste the smoke in my tongue.

“We'll find a way out, I'll make sure we get out unharmed,” Mason promised. I want to believe him, he always has the right solution for everything, but this situation seemed different.

I gave a nod despite the fear growing in my heart and eating away at it. “There should be a way here, come with me,” Mason said and we turned.

The door at the end of the hallway opened, and we stopped as Victoria walked out of a room, silhouetted by the glow of firelight behind her, and her face was blank, no expression at all. Now how did she get here?

Victoria had a knife in her hand, and in a loud and sharp voice, she said, “Put them down, let them sleep, let them die here with me.”

I placed one hand on Melanie's head, I would protect them with my life. I looked from Victoria to Mason. He bit his lower lip, “Can you hold Liam too?” I nodded and carr

  • My ex-husband’s nightmare   Chapter 201

LydiaLiam and Melanie smiled as they walked down the aisle in the garden, Liam in a suit and Melanie white dress. They held hands just like Mason and I did. It has been three months since Victoria's death. Her burned body was found in that house and laid to rest in the Woods’s private cemetery. Mason and I decided to renew our vows. I love this man, and he has chosen me, too. It was my idea which he readily accepted. On both sides were friends and family. They were a few, the closest we had. My eyes caught Marcus and Zoe at the side. While Zoe stood clapping and cheering like the others, Marcus was busy placing a flower on her hair while staring lovingly at her. Mason had not accepted their relationship initially, he wasn't convinced of Marcus's sincerity. But the past three months was enough proof to even a blind man that what Marcus felt for Zoe was real. Mason had no choice but to give his consent.Mason and I stood face to face in front of everyone. He stared into my eyes as

  • My ex-husband’s nightmare   Chapter 199

Lydia I rushed towards my car, my legs felt weak, and my entire body shook as I covered the distance. I have never felt so much fear in a long time. My heart beat faster than before, my entire body shook. With shaky hands, I dialled Mason’s number. It didn't connect. Why wasn't it connecting? I was mad at the phone, mad at the car which refused to start. I hopped down. I had other cars, but I couldn't go back to get the keys so I ran to the gate, got out and ran as fast as my legs could carry me. I was in the sitting room the entire time, so I couldn't fathom how the kids had been taken away. I should have stayed with them. If I had, then no one would have come close. I hailed the first cab I saw. Getting a cab here was an unusual occurrence but I was in no position to mind. I gave him the address and the man hummed without saying a word. The car sped into the night, but no matter how fast the car was I urged the driver to go faster. I had to be there before she hurt the twins. I

Victoria Sam spoiled Irene, he was always with her, he loved her and went with her to the hospital for her check-ups. She stopped working as a nanny, and she was given her own room and treated with care by everyone. Words couldn't express how broken I was, to have my husband's mistress leave with us. I was just the wife he took to public events, but she was the woman who had his heart. The only good thing about my pregnancy was that it cancelled the divorce papers. In the eighth month, Sam left with his Mom for a business trip, which lasted for a month. They were to return three days before my delivery. In that month, Irene went back to being a maid. I didn't care about her pregnancy, she worked before she ate. It was also in those times that I found out the shocking truth.Irene was not just any woman, she was his first love. The love he had for her exceeded the love he showed in the bedroom. If I wasn't in the picture, he would have married her. He has always wanted a child f

  • My ex-husband’s nightmare   Chapter 197

Victoria Twenty-one years agoWhen I met Mason’s father, Sam, I knew he would be my husband. This man, who yields power and control, was handsome, tall, cold, and most importantly, wealthy. He was the most attractive man in the city, every woman wanted him. I knew I fell on the list of women he'd never want, especially with my middle-class family background. His family may not accept me. So, I had to come up with a plan. It started at a party. I had access through my friend whose family was on par with the Woods. That was where we met, one splashed on his white shirt, one touch, one kiss and the rest was history. They say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, well, permit me to add one more way, through his dick. Nothing beats good sex and I was good at it. He loved being dominant, so I surrendered to him, both in bed and out of bed. No man has ever given me as much pleasure as he did. Raw and sweet. I knew our relationship was not going to last, I was just one of the w

  • My ex-husband’s nightmare   Chapter 196

LydiaThe next day, he left to meet with her. I sat in the sitting room waiting for his return. My eyes were always on the wall clock, it ticked slowly, and time dragged. The twins had been tucked into bed. Zoe was out, she was staying over at her boyfriend's.I couldn't help but think that something bad had happened. When mom confronted her, it hadn't ended well. Hours passed without Mason. I felt sleepy. So I stood and decided to walk around the house. As I passed the twins’s room, I pushed the door open and stepped inside. When my eyes met the empty bed, a scream escaped my lips. My entire body shook. My heart rammed against my chest. The air suddenly felt too little, like all the air had been sucked out of the room. I walked closer and saw a picture on the bed with a note. The picture was of the twins in a car. On the note was written, “You know where to find me. If you know what is best for the twins, you'll come alone.” At the back of the note was the address. ....*Mas
