Chapter 29: Entrance pass.

The living room is deserted when I walk past it again and I'm thankful for it. No doubt Malachi would have tried to keep me from stepping out of the house if he saw me.

He’d have failed. No one can keep me from going anywhere anymore. I’m no longer his wife. I no longer have to live by his rules.

The dress I wear is a light and free one. Much more like summer dresses, it has a series of laces at the back that have to be tightened. The fabric is a pattern of keyholes put so tightly together, they form an optical illusion. The inspiration for it came when I wanted to have something that signifies freedom.

I had been thinking heavily of being free myself then.

There’s no one at the door too when I get there too and a brief thought crosses my mind, making me wonder where everyone has gone to. I head to my car, get in, and drive out of the opened gate.
