Chapter 3

Iris POV

Rule number one, don't let your enemies know your next move.

Confuse them, get closer to them, and ruin them.

Rule number two, don't act like you know their secrets, smile with them, make them feel comfortable, and kill them with the spirit in you.

"What?" She asked pretending as if she doesn't know what she is doing. She splashed water on my face and dated my boyfriend behind my back. Like who the fuck does that? How can she act like she doesn't know?

"Don't let her know anything. Pretend as if you are still good friends.." I heard in my head. I looked around to see who talked but I found no one.

As I was about to talk, another voice came into my head.

"Shh...you are not about to expose our secret. She can't know you know. Our life will be in danger."

Our life?

Who the hell is talking? And why am I hearing the voice in my head?

"Get her out of here and I will introduce myself to you." I heard again. I sighed. Fine!

I turned to her.

What does she want anyway?

"What are you doing here?" I asked.

"Are you serious? What am I doing here? We go to school together. Have you forgotten so soon? Cmon."

"Uh...I...yes, yes. Sorry. I forgot. I just had a dream."

"Fine. We are running late. We've got a test today. Remember?"

A test?

I raised my eyebrows in surprise.

What test?

I don't even know...

"Have you forgotten we are having a test too?"

"Are you for real?" She added.

I sighed.

"Okay, okay. I am exhausted. I will just take my bath."

"Alright. I will wait for you here while you-"

"No, no. You can't." I blurted.

The plan was to get her out of this room as fast as possible. I want to know the voice talking to me. I don't know how I got here and I need to figure something out.

"Why? I used to wait here while you go into the bathroom to take your bath. You even dress in front of me."

"What? You know what? I can't do that anymore. I deserve my privacy."

"Since when do you start requesting privacy?" She directed the question with a commanding tone.

I frowned. This is my room, right?

"Halley, this is my room. I don't think I ever come to your room to invade your privacy. Have I ever done so?" I asked folding my arms. She was shocked and I don't care why. Was this how she has been commanding me? She suddenly became soft.

She looked down.

"I...I am sorry." She apologized and walked away.

When the door closed, I shut it behind me immediately. I don't want anyone to come in unannounced. I deserve my privacy. I need to mark my territory. I can't just allow anyone to order me around. Just then I took a moment to look around the room I was in. Everything in here screams money. The tiled floor, the huge-sized bed. The closet was full of different clothes.

Am I dreaming?

"No, you aren't." I heard the voice again.

"Okay, I think it's time you introduce yourself to me. You can't just come into my head and speak whenever you want."

"Fine! I am your wolf, silly."

Wait, I have a wolf?

"I am your wolf, Sabrina."

Sabrina?

"And of course, you have a wolf. The moon goddess had gifted you with me while you were coming back. What year do you think you are? You are in your high school year. You need to start preparing on how to avenge your death."

I gasped. High school year? That is like two years back. Wait. I am in the past. What the? I am in the past. I am living my life again. No wonder it all felt familiar. This was how my room was two years back. I remembered slipping off the bathroom floor and landing my butt on the ground. But the only difference here is that the floor of my bathroom isn't tiled and in fact, it was just a normal floor.

"What the heck?"

"Yes. So that is why you need to pretend as if nothing had happened or changed. See ya, later."

"Wait, wait," I said but she was already shut out of my head. Oh, fuck it! I need help. I don't even know my way around here. Where is the bathroom and how am I supposed to prepare for school? Just then I heard a knock on the door.

"Iris. Iris. Open up."

I recognized the voice. It was my mom's voice. Oh, I have missed her so much. I rushed to the door and tried to open it but then, it became so difficult. The door was different from the one I am used to. I twisted the knob countlessly but nothing. Gripping the hold of the key, I turned it and it made a click sound. It sounds so satisfying.

I turned it again and it opened.

It revealed my mom's face. I missed her so much. I embraced her tightly and she did the same. I heard her chuckle.

"Hey, what's wrong?" She asked.

I sniffed. "I missed you, Mother," I muttered.

She smiled again. "I miss you too. But hehe, we saw and talked to each other last night, right? Cmon."

I still didn't break away. I don't want her to go anywhere. I need to make sure she is alright. She has changed. She dressed expensively like money wasn't a problem. I remembered then. We could hardly purchase a sweater.

How come everything has changed?

Maybe the moon goddess was right. I need to right every wrong. I need to correct every wrong. Exactly and I am starting with my parents. I will protect them as long as I can. I needed to find out what killed them in the first place. But then, I believed that their death wasn't ordinary. It was caused by an unknown force and I needed to know what happened. I needed to know what caused the force.

"My dear, are you okay?"

I heard my mother's voice. I snapped out of my thoughts.

"Yes, mother. I am okay. I just..."

"It's okay."

"Breakfast is ready. Take your bath and come downstairs. You have got a test today."

She walked out of the room in her classy, expensive gown.

I headed towards the first door and opened it but it wasn't the bathroom. It was a closet filled with clothes. I approached the second and it was the bathroom.

I stepped in gently and walked slowly to the bathroom. I remembered it was after I finished taking my football that was when I slipped and fell on my butt. I was gentle this time. I held the wall for support and took the brush.

Fortunately, I didn't fall throughout my hygiene session. I was grateful for that. Opening my closet, I picked out a white dress. I could remember we don't usually wear uniforms. It was a pair of white trousers and a white shirt. I didn't leave my body exposed and I loved it that way.

I put on my shoes and brushed my hair and packed it in a bun. I saw some books with my name written on it. I stuffed them into my backpack and headed outside.

The stairs were different. It wasn't made of wood. It was classy. Such a long stair.

Getting down, I saw my mom and dad. I hugged him tightly too.

He asked me what was wrong but I told him nothing was wrong. I just missed them.

I ate my breakfast without looking weird to them. Soon, a middle-aged man approached us.

"Good morning sir."

My dad responded.

The middle-aged man faced me.

"Who are you?"

"What?"

"Nothing...good morning sir."

"I am ready to take you to school."

Okay, this looks weird but I don't think I will be able to accept my life like this. I wasn't born into a rich home. I was poor. My parents can't even afford a bag of potatoes but they are eating on an expensive plate filled with garnished potatoes and salad.

I finished eating and I was ready for school. Suddenly, something rang so loud almost causing me to spring up on my feet. My parents gazed at me and I began to wonder what was wrong.

"Isn't that your phone, Iris?" My mom said gulping down a glass of water. My phone?

I have a phone.

Since when was that?

"Oh..." I hummed and got up on my feet to pick it up. I remembered then. Only the wealthy family got to use this type of phone.

I pick it up but it ended up falling off my hands.

I hurriedly picked it up from the floor and pulled a nervous smile.

"Hum...I will go now. See you later." I rushed words and ran out of the house.

I was going the wrong way when I was directed to a car.

*

The car pulled over in front of a building. I stepped out and saw a very, tall huge building. I got scared and then someone spoke.

"Hello, babe."

I recognized the voice. It was him.

Desmond.
