Danica (Part 1)

"Is there something bothering you?" Monette inquired of Danica, who was quietly sipping from the glass of wine she was holding.

"Do I look bothered?" Danica asked.

Monette gave her a sidelong glance. "Don't respond to my question with another question."

Danica softly laughed at her friend's answer. She shook her head and leaned back against the backrest of the sofa they were sitting on. Danica had just gotten home from her boutique and decided to call Monette for a drink. Even though she hasn't told her why she has asked her to drink, Monette appears to know she has a problem—the advantages of being her best friend for ten years.

"Did you and Joshua fight?" Monette asked once more.

She didn't respond. Instead, she simply drained her glass of wine and set it on the table. She stood up and straightened her clothes.

Monette raised her head. She looked at her with a frown. "Where are you going?"

She smiled at her. "I'm going to have a good time," she replied.
