Chapter 19: Cure to Trouble

“Yes. I understand the situation. I won’t let you down, sir.”

Aria’s words are chosen carefully as she speaks over the phone with her landlord. Though she was trying to sound confident, there was still a crack in her voice as she struggled to keep herself together. A last-minute call from your landlord before night falls is the last thing anybody would want. It spells dread. And dreadful it was indeed.

As soon as Aria hangs up the phone, she lets out a tired sigh. Her landlord just raised the rent and in all honesty, she did not understand the situation at all. It almost sounded as if he was fishing for money. She runs her fingers through her lengthy, black hair as she tries to keep herself together. No matter how hard she tried, things seemed to never get any better for her.
