Brielle, Harlie and Scarlett giggled as they fell backwards onto Brielle’s bed. Each let out a long sigh of relief as they stared at the ceiling. “You did it.” Harlie gasped dramatically. Brielle gave her a gentle nudge as she chuckled dryly. “Don’t sound so shocked.” Brielle grinned at her sister. Harlie shook her head absentmindedly. “I just never thought you were listening when I used to read my books to you.” Scarlett scoffed as she lifted up her body and rested on her elbows. “I definitely wasn’t.” Brielle laughed at her Gamma, whilst Harlie gave the girl a pointed look. “I guess some things stuck with me.” Brielle admitted as she shrugged her shoulders. “Now,” Scarlett began, as she side-eyed Harlie. “When are you going to stop drooling over that Beta?!” She questioned the suddenly blushing girl. “I wasn’t drooling!” Harlie reached for one of Brielle’s pillows and threw it at Scarlett. Scarlett gasped as she caught the pillow, before throwing it back at Harlie. “Oh
Ryker smiled anxiously as he waited for a response from Brielle. He was praying she hadn’t changed her mind about the date, he and Mace had been waiting for this moment since they first rested their eyes upon her. He just hoped she liked what they had planned.Brielle bit down on her lower lip before turning to face Harlie and Scarlett for an indication on what to do. The duo ferociously nodded their heads in encouragement, wanting Brielle to seize the moment. With a faint sigh, Brielle met Ryker’s nervous gaze. “Am I dressed okay? Or should I go change?” She questioned as she glanced down at her comfortable clothing.Ryker’s smile widened as he took Brielle’s response as an agreement she would come. “You look perfect.” He insisted, as he handed her the bouquet of lilies. “These are for you.”Brielle’s pupils dilated as she brought the lilies to her nose, taking in a deep whiff of their floral scent. She gleamed as her eyes met Ryker’s once more, whilst her heart skipped at beat at hi
Ryker turned his attention to the picnic basket by the side of them and started lifting out dishes he had grabbed for this evening.“Now,” he started. “A little birdie told me that you have a thing for biscoff?” He cocked his brow slightly as he glanced at Brielle.A mischievous grin crept onto Brielle’s lips as she let out a soft chuckle. “That may be true.” She admitted.“So its a good thing I packed this then?” He asked, as he dangled a jar of biscoff in front of Brielle.Brielle’s eyes widened in delight as she reached for the jar. “It’s definitely a good thing.” She agreed as she unscrewed the lid, desperate to dig in already. However, the night in the kitchen with River suddenly flashed in her mind. “Is River the one who told you about this?” She questioned as frown transformed her expression.Ryker sighed as he noticed Brielle’s expression harden. “He’s not as bad as you think he is, you know.”Brielle snorted as she rolled her eyes. “Yeah, he’s a real delight.”Ryker let out a
“He kissed you?!” Harlie exclaimed before her jaw almost hit the floor. She couldn’t believe what she was hearing, one minute her sister didn’t want to be in the same room as the triplets and the next she’s kissing one of them.“How was it?” Scarlett queried with a cautious expression. Brielle rolled her eyes as she chuckled, before returning her eyes to the path ahead.“It was…” she begun as she took a moment to choose the right word. “Breathtaking.” Brielle smiled slightly to herself as she thought back to last night.“It was dreamy.” Ocean swooned as she rested her snout on her front paws. She had been in cloud nine ever since, but she knew she still had work to do when it came to encouraging her human counterpart to accept the other two of their mates.Harlie and Scarlett shrieked as they continued their journey to the training field. “I knew you’d cave!” Harlie admitted with a smug grin.Brielle knitted her brows together as she glanced at her sister. “I’ve not caved, it was one
Reid took no time at all to take down one of the Amaris warriors, he didn’t quite beat River’s record but the display was equally as impressive. Now it was Brielle’s turn and to say she was feeling slightly flustered, well that was an understatement. But she could hardly be blamed, she had just watched two of her mates display impeccable strength and each take down an extreme large wolf without merely breaking a sweat. It had her mind working wonders, bringing images to the forefront of her mind that she really couldn’t afford to be focussing on right now. Of course Ocean was of no assistance whatsoever, if anything she was only adding fuel to the fire and completely losing sight on the end goal here.Brielle placed her hand behind her neck as she furrowed her brows, attempting to refocus her attention.Harlie shuffled closer to her sister, noticing her distracted state. “Bri, are you alright?” She whispered, although it was hardly a whisper. They were amongst several werewolves who c
“Stop being such a bore, Harls.” Brielle sniggered as she drove into the public car park. She glanced at the rear-view mirror to see Harlie scowling at her in the backseat, causing Brielle’s lips to curve in amusement.“Brielle deserves some fun!” Scarlett stated enthusiastically, as she turned to encourage the Beta.“Yeah!” Brielle exclaimed. “I deserve some fun!” She nodded her head sharply in agreement as she backed the SUV into a parking spot.Harlie rolled her eyes at the duo as she climbed out of the backseat. “How is underwear shopping fun if you don’t plan for anyone to see it on?” Harlie queried.Brielle linked her arm through her sisters as they headed down the high street. “Well for starters, never underestimate the power of good lingerie on a bad day.” Brielle said matter-of-factly.“Exactly.” Scarlett added as she linked her arm through Brielle’s. “And who said no one’s going to see it? I can tell you names of three hunky alpha’s who will be seeing Brielle’s.”“We’ll see
River peered down at Brielle with a boyish grin, finding his antics rather amusing. “It’s fine, Bri. Don’t be embarrassed.”If looks could kill, River would have been burnt to a pile of ashes on the floor by now. “He’s lying.” Brielle politely insisted to the barista, whilst secretly giving River a forceful nudge in the side of his ribs.River tutted as he draped his arm around Brielle’s shoulder, sending a shudder down her spine from the connection of his skin. “Does this look like the face of a guy who would lie?” He asked the barista innocently. The lady behind the counter gawked at the duo, not being entirely sure what to make of the whole interaction.Brielle shoved River’s arm off her shoulders, whilst flashing the barista an innocent smile. “I’m going to kill you.” She muttered quietly so only River could hear.River waved his hand, dismissing what Brielle had said. “Don’t mind her, she’s working through some issues right now.”River leaned closer to the counter whilst bringing
Brielle let out a deep sigh as she stared longingly out into the castle gardens. Everything was so quiet, peaceful. Nothing could be heard from all around, except the whistling of the wind in the cool autumn night.Slouching on an old oak bench, time felt like it was stood still for Brielle. She rested her head against the wooden frame and studied the pre-lit sky above her. She couldn’t resist the temptation to smile as she reminisced on her last evening out here, under the stars.Only unlike right now, she wasn’t alone. She was with Ryker. She had enjoyed the night much more than she had allowed herself to let on to others. His presence brought her a sense of calm she’d previously never experienced and a rush of happiness she never thought she would get to feel. The truth was, she’d never really allowed herself to believe that kind of happiness was meant for her. Her duties were to Shadow and having a mate would only distract her from her responsibilities, or so she had once thought.
