Epilogue: The Connection

Hugh Baker’s POV

I was staring at the ceiling as Irina was getting dressed. I don’t know why I even bothered to entertain her in my bed. It has been cold for years and right now, Irina has warmed it again, once in 3 months. I sighed before I slipped out of the cover and getting the robe to slip around my body.

“Thank you, my husband for a wonderful night,” she whispered before she kissed my cheek. I felt disgusted with myself and before I can stop it, I gripped her wrist as Irina was moving away from me.

“Why do you even bother to come here anymore?” I asked her as my wife blinked at me. we barely spoke to each other and she was hot and cold with me. I don’t think I can go on like this.
