Chapter 3

Scarlett

My eyes blinked open, a loud scream leaving my mouth as I thrashed on the hard floor. I whimpered, a fire spreading along my muscles as they were forced to stretch without a warning, reflexively. A bad dream, except now that I was awake, I knew it wasn't a dream but my reality. It felt so actual and that is when everything came rushing back.

Cane and his friend, the two guards, the people that were placed outside my cell to occlude my escape. The same two vile men that wanted to force themselves on me. An image of my legs being pried open flashed before my eyes, followed by increased heart palpitations.

The weary feeling of being held down, trapped on the hard concrete washed over me yet again. I relived it all over again, the helplessness, the constant begging. I wiped a sheen of sweat on my forehead with the back of my hand, ignoring the burning feeling all over my body.

I had gone through too much in my pathetic excuse of a life to break down now. I massaged my temples to ease the pounding pain that seemed to never go away. With my eyes closed, I leaned on the wall, allowing my mind to just work, to think, to remember, to do whatever it wanted to. I never had a say over my own life in my former pack, seemed I was walking down the same path even after my escape.

The stench was familiar and so was everything in it. I was still in the cell, with the stale sandwich sitting beside me on the same plate. The wounds I had sustained through the bites had dried up, despite the conditions of living I had been subjected to.

Tilting my leg slowly, I observed the biggest one I had sustained from the alpha on my heel. His wolf would have snapped my foot but the tranquilizers I had put in his drink worked at the right moment. The sound of dangling keys had me shifting and pressing my body further on the wall.

'Please. ' I whispered to myself, suppressing a shiver as Cane came into view. My stomach tied in knots when he stepped inside. I wrapped my arms around myself, another layer of sweat beginning to form. His presence forced me yet again to relive the moment. The exact moment he had positioned his manhood on my pussy, nudging at the opening, with the help of his friend.

'Get up. ' He hissed, his voice sending another shiver down my spine. I had pretty unambiguous knowledge of what he was capable of. So slowly, I tried pushing myself up, my mouth shut entirely while my gaze remained cast on the floor. I could feel every inch of my body part putting up resistance, almost halting my movements.

'We don't have all day you bitch! ' I had the urge to tell him to shut the fuck up. To stop shouting when my head was pounding so much. However before I could go through with it and face the obvious consequences, he pulled me up by my hand.

It was brief and yet the part on my wrist where his hand had been hurt. My legs shook, the strength of my upper body too much for them to support. A wave of nausea hit me, creeping up from my abdomen to my head. I could feel everything around me spinning slowly but steadily. I crumpled, with my eyes shut, I welcomed the fall but the next thing I felt was a pair of arms steadying me.

An indescribable feeling spread all over my chest, a warmth that I had never felt in my entire life enveloped me. Tingles ran and danced across my skin as the warmth of the hands seeped into my skin. Then my eyes opened as I was lowered down again to the floor.

'Alpha. ' Cane bowed, his hands behind his back. I could see a man in my peripheral vision but somehow I was afraid of looking at him. If he was anything like my former alpha, then I was going to wish I was dead.

Slowly, I lifted my eyes and looked at him.

Drop dead attractive, standing a head taller than Cane, with broad shoulders and muscular arms covered by a navy blue t-shirt, my natural expression paused. He was a sight to look at, with jet black hair that looked a little bit messy. My eyes dropped down to his prominent cheekbones, up his clean shaven face. Finally our eyes connected and I swear my heart rate picked up.

The intensity in his almond shaped eyes was nothing but indecipherable. Then with a single nod from him, Cane left the place, handing the man the set of keys he always carried. I should have been scared of the tall man, but there was something in me that knew he wouldn't hurt me, something that made me feel he wasn't like Cane.

'Name? ' It was a single utterance, but the deep husky voice made it sound like a whole sentence. His steady yet powerful tone matched his physique. I became dumb even though I had heard him loud and clear. His presence made the cell appear and feel much smaller.

'Do not make me wait. ' My mouth opened at his warning and in a whisper, I shakily pronounced my name with a heavy tongue.

'Scarlett. ' I cast my gaze yet again on the floor.

'You're too sane to be a rogue. ' He stated, squatting in front of me. The proximity had me squirming. For a moment I couldn't feel my temples throbbing as his manly scent washed over my senses.

'So tell me Scarlett, why the fuck are you in my territory? ' I flinched when he cursed, the powerful aura around him compelling me to expose my neck to him. I didn't have a wolf yet, but even so deep down I could feel the change in the atmosphere the moment he stepped inside my cell.

'I'm sorry. ' I whimpered when he clutched my chin, forcing me to look at his eyes directly. Penetrative, his stare was all that, with his grey-blue eyes rarely blinking. He let go of my chin and stood up, and finally I let out the breath I had been holding.

'The only reason I haven't killed you yet is because you weren't feeling okay. I make sure one is healthy to be able to handle my torture for longer, a weak person is likely to let it go in a short while. '

The word yet echoed in my mind, it was the way he dragged it that struck me numb. Who was he? A man that didn't have any respect for life. It was official, he was far much worse than Alpha Silas. 'what had I gotten myself into?' I thought silently. I had no idea about territory borders but I knew the moment I escaped my pack link was broken, rendering me a rogue.

My mother had told me stories about the Yellow Moon Pack's alpha whenever we got to meet. Separated at my birth, she was forced to work in the farm while Alpha Silas took me as his servant. I was trained from childhood to serve in the pack house, trained to take blows. She would tell me stories of an alpha notorious and more ruthless than Alpha Silas.

He was said to punish trespassers in the most inhumane ways possible. Rumour had it that he did so by cutting finger by finger, with his best healer by his side. He would stop the bleeding and do it all over again, maiming them repeatedly. Now hearing the words from the man Cane addressed as alpha earlier had a cold sweat forming.

'Oh yes Scarlett, you need to fear me. Because looking at you you're doing okay. ' He showed no emotions whatsoever as he indirectly issued the death sentence to me. I was numb all over, and the only thing I could picture was bleeding out and screaming my lungs out as he killed me.

'Pl-e' The word jammed in my throat, instead I soothed my dry throat with a big gulp of saliva. I couldn't believe this was happening to me. No matter how evil alpha Silas was, he never threatened to end my pathetic life.

'Beggars disgust me, weaklings, cowards. ' He sneered pulling me roughly up on my feet. I wobbled, whimpering as he tightened his hand around my arm. Even at the current situation and the slight pain on my arm and the rest of my body, the warmth I felt when he first held me was back. It spread all over, and I couldn't stop the burning feeling between my legs.

'In two days time you will be brought to me in the sentencing chambers.' He leaned down, brushing the side of my air to the back of my shoulder.

'We will have so much fun. Don't die too quickly. '
