Chapter 2

Author: liora
Several humiliating intimate photos appeared in the chat one after another.

The photos showed me huddled in the corner of a dim girls' restroom stall after Jack's fangirls had forcibly stripped off my top. I was covering my chest and sobbing helplessly.

Blood rushed to my head. My fingers shook with rage as I typed, "Jack! Delete those photos right now!"

Jack sent a voice message. "Sophie, delete them? Why? Let everyone take a good look. How are you still this insecure after all these years?

"To be fair, there was one good thing about you back then. You had one hell of a rack.

"We were young. We were just messing around. It was so long ago. You're not petty enough to still hold it against us, are you?"

Did he really think "we were young" could erase the inhuman torment they had put me through?

A few people in the chat piled on. "All that flab spilling out, and it doesn't gross you out, Jack?"

Behind me, my assistant Anna caught sight of the screen and turned livid with rage.

"What is this? This is outright cyber harassment and bullying! They've lost their minds!

"I'm having Legal send cease-and-desist letters right now. They'll take everything down and apologize immediately!"

I raised a hand and held Anna's trembling wrist. "It's all right. The harder they laugh now, the more humiliated they'll be when the time comes."

Anna looked at me, her eyes reddening.

She had been at my side for five years and knew better than anyone the hell I had endured.

High-intensity fasted cardio at five every morning.

Oil-free meals weighed to the gram.

Countless times, I collapsed from exhaustion in the weight room, got back up, and kept deadlifting.

It took me seven full years to take off ninety pounds.

I went from a self-conscious two-hundred-pound girl to a professional fitness influencer with fifteen percent body fat.

On social media, my fitness account had six million genuine followers.

The screen went dark, and my reflection stared back at me.

A defined jawline. A sharp gaze. Not a trace of my former timidity remained.

Ella. Jack.

At your wedding at the manor in two days, I would give you both a gift you'd remember for the rest of your lives.

That morning, just after my workout, my social media notifications showed 99+.

When I unlocked my phone, the old video Ella had posted the night before had become the top trending topic in the city.

Ella had perfected the art of turning the truth on its head. Posing as the righteous victim, she wrote in the most-liked comment, "She copied my work back then and refused to admit it. She even tried to come between Jack and me!

"Our classmates were just angry on my behalf. Maybe they went a little too far, but please don't attack them. They're good people."

Her followers erupted. Within seconds, vicious abuse flooded the comment section:

"A disgusting plagiarist who's fat, nasty, and trying to steal another woman's man? She deserved to be shoved into that mud pit!"

The hateful comments kept pouring in, broken only by a few tentative questions.

"Wait, the girl they shoved into the mud is named Sophie? Doesn't she look a little like Sophie Aubert, the fitness influencer with six million followers?"

Ella replied with a string of smirking emojis.

"Don't be ridiculous. She's a fat girl from a farm in the middle of nowhere. How could she be a top influencer living in a New York penthouse?"

Jack quickly replied, "Exactly. A fat pig who does nothing but plagiarize is probably still on some run-down farm!"

My amplified voice carried clearly to every corner of the venue. "I'm calling on every girl who has been slandered, mocked, or made to feel ashamed of her body."Stand up and be brave! Fight back against the scum who take pleasure in your pain!"To celebrate this special day, I'm donating every dollar this estate earns today."The money will establish the Stronger Girls Fund to encourage girls who are ready to make a change. Anyone who successfully loses weight will receive a $1,000 award!"The crowd erupted the moment I finished speaking. The guests who had come only for the spectacle were now clapping and cheering wildly. The livestream chats exploded."Sophie is incredible! That is what a queen looks like!""God almighty, she just gave away $1.5 million!""Those bullies deserve to be exposed. We're with her!"I let the deafening cheers wash over me, then turned to Jack, whose face had gone grim.I spoke quietly into the microphone, "Jack, I have a wedding gift for you as well. I hop

Every trace of color drained from Ella's face, leaving her white as a sheet.Wild-eyed, Ella pointed at Robert and Diane and screamed herself hoarse. "Get out! Security, throw them out!"I'm not their daughter! Tell them to stop saying I am!"The smiles on both of their faces froze in an instant.Robert and Diane looked at her in disappointment. Tears spilled down Diane's cheeks."Ella, I only thought you were a little vain."I never imagined you'd turn into someone like this."Jack, who had stood frozen through the whole exchange, finally came to his senses. His face darkened. He seized Ella's wrist and squeezed so hard he nearly crushed the bones."Explain this to me. What is going on? Weren't you supposed to be an heiress?"Surrounded by mocking stares, he had never felt so humiliated."You booked a wedding this expensive. You weren't planning on making me pay for it, were you?"Jack shook her, his voice trembling with urgency. "Do you even have the hundreds of thousands of dollars

The air went dead still.Ella's tirade died in her throat. She stared straight ahead, frozen.Jack, who had been standing beside her pretending not to exist, finally lost his composure.Shock written all over his face, he rushed forward and spread his arms to block Harrison's path."Mr. Spencer, do you have the wrong person? In high school, she was a broke nobody who couldn't even afford a sandwich!"This is Blue Rose Manor, the most luxurious private estate on the entire West Coast! How could gutter trash like her possibly be your boss?"Harrison straightened slowly and brushed the hem of his jacket with a white silk glove."Mr. Smith, please retract that foolish assumption."He took a gold-embossed official document from a senior assistant and unfolded it."The woman standing before you, Ms. Aubert, is the sole owner of this estate."He held it up so every camera could catch the official seal and my signature. That announcement was the killing blow. The entire venue erupted, and the

Right. How could I possibly have it?Because I'd gotten it back then.In that moment, a wave of bitterness and hurt surged through me.I'd gotten the recording back then, but I didn't have the courage to show it to anyone.I buried it deep, as though it were a dirty secret.I had hidden it for one reason. At school, Ella was always bragging about her high-powered parents and her uncle, a powerful politician.I was afraid.I was afraid that if I released it, she would come after me and my parents, who ran a small farm.I was terrified. So, for all four years of high school, she bullied, slandered, and isolated me. Time after time, I suffered in silence and never dared fight back. But things were different now.Over those seven years, every drop of sweat, every weight I'd lifted, and every step I'd run had hardened into the armor I wore now.At last, I had the courage to stand there. I wasn't doing it for anyone else. I was there to get justice for the timid, cowardly girl I had been, th

A collective gasp swept through the guests, and they stared at Jack with undisguised contempt."God, how could he be so vile?""That's vicious! He wouldn't even get his own hands dirty. He put other people up to bullying her.""He's absolute trash!"The blood drained from Jack's face, and cold sweat immediately soaked through his dress shirt. He waved his hands in a panic, trying to explain and making no sense. "Sophie, listen to me. That footage was doctored. Back then, I didn't..."I raised my hand and slapped him hard across the face! The blow snapped Jack's head to the side, and a vivid red handprint appeared instantly on his left cheek."That slap was for the seventeen-year-old Sophie you bullied, shoved into a fountain, and stripped of every last shred of dignity."I withdrew my hand, took out a wet wipe, and wiped my fingertips clean with deliberate elegance. Then I tossed it at his feet."You contaminate even the air around you."Ella lost it completely, tearing at her veil and

Ella's meticulously made-up face twisted with envy. Unable to accept what she was seeing, she pointed at me like she'd lost her mind."No! That's not Sophie! Sophie is a two-hundred-pound pig!"Who the hell are you?! Did that fat freak pay you to impersonate her just to ruin my wedding?!"Her hysterical shrieks only made the guests stare at her like she was an idiot.I turned and looked at her coldly."Sorry to disappoint you."For seven years, I've worked up a sweat at the gym every single day. I've shed more drops of sweat than you have brain cells."Ella shook with rage and lunged at me, clawing for my hair. Jack grabbed her by the shoulder and shoved her hard behind him.He turned on Ella, disgust in his eyes, and barked, "Ella, are you done acting crazy?! You're practically deranged! Do you really want everyone laughing at us?!"He took two steps toward me and deliberately drew himself up, his pecs straining against his shirt as he showed off the physique he was so proud of."Soph
