“Older sister,” Min-a grumbled, a thoughtful expression on his face. “They’re just after Seo’s name. Too easy.”

“I want someone who can challenge me, and make me grow undeniable feelings for them.” He spoke, seemingly unaware of the deeper implications of his words.

Seo Eun Hye nodded either way. “Min-a, the clock is ticking.” She sighed, giving him a weird look. “You need to start your own family.” She reminded him.

“What? Are you playing cupid now?” Min-a grunted, switching on his phone to see thousands of I*******m messages, which made him more frustrated.

He needed a new fit for the opening party of Velvet Club tomorrow. He had invested some thousands in it alongside his friends, so he planned to enjoy every bit of its benefits.

They arrived home soon enough to meet their father having dinner on their spaced see-through glass dining table.

Eun Hye felt nerves crawling up her stomach, she couldn’t meet his gaze knowing she hadn’t still secured the desired artist for the project he entrusted to her, and the hearing tomorrow.

She dodged the dinner hall, following Min-a into his room.

“What are you doing?” Min-a asked, stopping in his tracks and turning to look down at her due to their distinct height difference.

“What,” Eun Hye muttered, “can’t I spend some time with my younger brother?” She tried to act cute, but it didn't work on Min-a.

Instead, his face developed a small frown.

“No,” was all he said before he got into his master room, but left the door open behind him, so she followed him in and shut the door.

Eun Hye looked around her brother’s room. She didn't come here often because his art was displayed all over his wall. He even used a side of his walls for minimalistic painting.

Min-a’s art was...abstract. If you were to put it in the simplest way. They were all creepy and didn’t fit into any box of art Eun Hye knew about from working with digital artists. She had convinced him once or twice to sell his art, but he refused, saying he wasn't a sell-out.

That was when the idea of lightning struck her.

“Oh, I know that look.” Min-a read her expression the instant he noticed it. “I’m not doing any life-endangering tasks for you again.” He asserted sternly and Eun Hye’s face collapsed.

That was what happens when your parents only birthed two kids, you end up knowing each other a little too well.

“You haven’t even listened to what I have to say,” Eun Hye pouted, moving closer to clasp his hands in her smaller ones. “Look, Dad must not find out that I haven’t secured the artist he is obsessed with.” She whined, batting her pretty, long eyelashes at her little brother.

Min-a calmly removed his hands and rolled his eyes at her beseeching face.

He took his shirt off to head for a shower.

“You stink.” Eun Hye scrunched her tiny nose.

“Really? Good luck with Dad.” Min-a shrugged nonchalantly, striding towards his bathroom.

“Min-a, I just took a bullet for you.” Eun Hye reminded him in a whiny voice.

“You only came to pick me up.” Min-a pointed out, shaking his head at his shameless, older sister.

“Look,” Eun Hye smiled victoriously, “you owe me, and that’s it.” She insisted when she noticed she had backed him into the corner.

“So much being family..” Min-a grumbled, rolling his eyes. “What do you want?”

“I need your help tonight.” Eun Hye breathed out, her expression set in determination. “I want you to convince this arrogant artist to work with our company.” She rubbed her hands together as she spoke.

A hopeful glint sparked in her deep, brown eyes, or it was the bright light in his room, either way, the expression disturbed Min-a.

He finally realized why their father granted her one of his biggest assets to take care of at the age of 21.

That was three years ago.

Eun Hye was crazy.

She was obsessed with being the best and doing the most.

Whereas, Min-a only wanted to fuck hot girls and do drugs, so he could forget that they simply desired him for his looks and last name.

“Eun Hye, I don’t want to. I’m not going to be your dark sword again. Remember what happened last time?”

Min-a felt a chill run down his spine as he recalled eating a particular Mrs. Yuan's coochie because his older sister needed him to convince the old lady to invest in her last project.

“What? That was a good one. You get to fuck Mrs. Yuan! Wasn’t it like a great time for you too?” Eun Hye frowned, appearing extremely confused. She thought he had enjoyed the arrangement since he loved abomination affairs.

Min-a swallowed hard before walking away. His silence troubled his older sister.

“Did she do anything else to you?” Eun Hye’s worried voice brought Min-a to his senses. He realized he was being too sensitive.

“Nope, aside from biting my balls a bit too hard?” he wiggled his brows, winking at his older sister because he knew she would be disgusted, and hopefully, that would get her to leave him alone.

But it didn’t work.

“I didn’t need to know that. Look, it’s different this time. Kwan Seung-ho is like those ethical artists. He came from nothing and now is some top-rated art brainiac in the whole of South Korea. We have given him our best offer, yet, the arrogant bastard refused to work with us, claiming he isn't a buyout.” Eun Hye complained, dropping on his futon for comfort.

“If he isn’t a buyout, then he isn’t a buyout,” Min-a remarked, folding his hands across his chest.

“Contact another artist. What’s so special about him anyways?” he frowned in displeasure.

“You don’t know Kwan Seung-ho? He is the heat of the season! Every Advertising Company big or small wants to sign in. Dad is crazy about his work. His mini-art project went viral on Cyworld and he sold three of them for 200 million won each. His design keeps getting higher in demand because of how outlandish the internet thinks it is, and he is currently refusing to even lease to Art Galleries. He is on this high horse he won't come down from.” Eun Hye stressed, complaining about the complication she was facing with signing Seung-ho under their family company.

“200 million is half of what I earned last year, what's the big deal?” Min-a shook his head, still not coming to the realization of how influential the artist was.

“His whole story changed for life in one day, Min-a. The day he decided to upload his art. Look, I know men like him, they are tough nuts to crack. They don’t appreciate money but talent, charm, and charisma. Something to challenge them..” Eun Hye started her proposal by stroking her brother’s ego.

“Go on.” Min-a drawled, and she shook her head at him as she continued.

“Who are you and what did you do to the grumpy old conservative alpha male, Ji Won?” Ji-ho asked, walking around Ji Won and assessing his body. Why was she just realizing that he had a really good body and a nice ass… “What?!! I have always been chill, bro…” Ji Won replied, staring at Ji-ho who tilted her right carved eyebrow at him, while Min-a gave him a look of disapproval. Ji Won had no idea he was that deep in the closet, that was how he represented himself unconsciously as the person he hated the most. He was about to feel all guilty when he remembered Min-a was like that, like him. “Since when?” Min-a shook his head, still trying to comprehend when his childhood best friend changed an entire 180°. “I don't know—it's not like you have been the most pro-choice guy out there.” Ji Won turned the table and was satisfied with the change in his expression and his body language. Min-a went lax then his expression changed again. Suddenly, he

Ji Won wasn't interested in their backstory. It would kill him. He wanted to know who his secret crush of 15 years was taking on a date. “Who is it?” Ji-ho has never coughed out an imaginary water so fast from her mouth. She watched Min-a freeze up after Ji Won asked the question. She could see that there were a lot of gears turning and wearing themselves out in Min-a's head while he stared blankly at his best friend. Unable to stand the moment, Ji-ho spoke up. “It is a surprise.” Ji-ho joined the conversation with a comical undertone. She turned around to face the cooker, turning the flames off beneath the pot. “Right, Min-a?” She turned to Min-a after his deathly silence, even right after she answered for him. “Yeah, yeah—it is uh…quite the surprise, even I wasn't expecting it.” Min-a stuttered. All his mind went blank for a full ten seconds. He really thought he had forgotten about the issue considering he was now focused more o

It didn't take long before Seo Min-a's mind traveled to his forthcoming date with Kwan Seung-ho. They had been getting so much more comfortable than Min-a thought they would. Somehow he just fit into his life and family drama that he had been so worried about in the first place. Unlike what he thought their relationship would be, a sore thumb stretching out of the haystack. Instead, it turned into something more complicated that fitted into his life perfectly. Just like every other thing. Ji-ho within the time of Min-a’s silence, had thrown an average of three bananas and a half-drunk bottle of water at Ji Won, all of which he didn't quite dodge properly. “You need to stop throwing stuff at me, you are making a mess and Eun Hye is not going to like that-” Ji Won was yet to finish when Min-a interrupted, waving his hand to catch his attention. “Actually, Eun Hye isn't around. Plus Ji-ho lives here now.” Min-a leaned his head all the way back until he now had his

At this point, Ji-ho had been allowed to go back to her place so she could feel more at home and her healing process could hasten, but to Min-a’s surprise, she kept coming back and spending random nights at their place. Not that he was complaining. If anything, he was glad. Ji-ho had grown so much on him, and in return, the idea of free food and relaxing in a hot tub after every minor inconvenience also appealed to her. So she made occasional visits whenever she was feeling spoiled. She wasn't just a freeloader, though. Her foster parents would have disapproved if she ever became one. She contributed by cooking and baking some of the most amazing treats she had learned from moving from one home to another. It never failed to make the household smile whenever they came home and caught a whiff of Ji-ho's cooking. Seo Min-a, for example, had his nose in the air—and he could smell the brownies. They were so good. The scent of cocoa had filled the entire house—or at lea

Eun Hye remembered the several times she had declined invites to chill at exclusive after-parties and midnight clubbing. She always turned them down. She didn't feel like she had the same privileges they had. They could slip up and get away with it without having their parents cut them off. Instead of socializing, Eun Hye poured all her energy into making her male counterparts recognise her, this led her into missing out of what being a happy youth felt like after spending years battling with old men who had lived more than twice her lifetime. She truly felt dumb now that she thought about it. Seo Eun Hye downed another shot of her drink, a bitter chuckle leaving her lips. Why did it take her this long to figure it out? One more shot, and she developed the liquid courage to flip through her message box till she stopped right on her friend group box. It has always been Hae-Won and Ae-cha, the last time she was active in the group happened to be a mon

“I don't want to hear it, Duncan. Go back and comfort Min-a like you always do.” Eun Hye snapped, a hot blazing glare directed towards Duncan. He has never seen Eun Hye look this mad at anyone before, let of him. The venom and pain in her voice made his heart shrink in pain. “That was just-” “No!” Eun Hye screamed at him. Luckily they were the only ones in the hallway. It was the executive floor and everyone on this floor either had their office here or didn't even work on this side of the city. Just when Duncan thought he couldn't stand looking at her looking and sounding hurt, her lips quivered after she yelled at him. They took a few seconds of silence to look at each other. There was nothing else to say. The finality in her voice already spoke loudly where she stood. Duncan took a step back in surrender, causing a strain of guilt to trickle down Eun Hye's throat. Just before she could do anything stupid like take her words back, she straigh

“You know his name is Duncan, right?” Min-a corrected him. “I don't care, honestly,” Seung-ho muttered. Min-a found his jealousy cute. He did see why he would be jealous though, Duncan was actually hot and gentle. “So,” Seung-ho started, coming to stand beside him. “Do yo
