Chapter 1

The sound of the door opening echoed, and Brice Decker walked in from outside. Following behind him was Amber Warner. He cast a brief glance toward the dining table, and the smile vanished from his face, replaced by a stern expression.Instead of searching for me, he called out my name in a commanding tone. "Violet Humphrey, didn't I tell you I was bringing Amber home for dinner? Where's the food?"I hurriedly poked my head out from the kitchen upon hearing this. "Sorry, honey. Let me cut some fruit for you two to snack on first. The food will be ready soon," I said with an ingratiating smile.Hearing this, Brice frowned uncharacteristically.I knew why he was frowning. It was because I was different from before. In the past, I couldn't bear to even hear Amber's name, much less allow Brice to bring her home for a meal.Yet now, here I was, wearing an ingratiating smile. Far from being angry, I even urged them to have some fruit first to stave off their hunger.Amber was also ta

I shouted for help, and the passerby started walking toward me. It wasn't until she stood right in front of me that I realized it was Indigo, whom I hadn't seen for years.Seeing me covered in blood, she first clicked her tongue and then remarked, "Violet, it's been a while. Never thought you'd end up worse off than me."Indigo called an ambulance for me, but it was already too late. By the time I was taken to the hospital, I had lost too much blood, and the doctor pronounced me dead.Upon learning that Indigo was my next of kin, the hospital handed over my body to her.Indigo showed no interest in me. Instead, she searched through my pockets for my phone, wallet, and bank cards. Anything of value, she took it all.She easily unlocked my phone using facial recognition and proceeded to transfer money from my digital wallet. After emptying my phone of all funds, perhaps out of boredom, she began scrolling through my chat history. It was only then that she discovered I had married,

"I'm not. Brice, you're overthinking it. I'm genuinely happy for you. Whether it's Amber or any other woman, as long as you like them, I won't mind you bringing them home," Indigo said calmly.Brice furrowed his brow deeply, trying to detect something else from Indigo's expression. "You really won't mind.""Really."I thought Brice would immediately feel happy upon hearing that. But instead, an icy, chilling expression crept on his face. In fact, he looked anything but pleased.Ignoring the cold, unsettling look, Indigo spoke up again. "I won't disturb you two anymore. But Brice, if I'm going to stay somewhere else, I'll need some money for a hotel. Could you transfer some money to me?"Brice's expression grew even more menacing. "Money, money, money. Is that all you care about lately? Want money? Fine. Here, take it and get out!"He pulled a bank card from his pocket and impatiently threw it in Indigo's face.Indigo, however, didn't get angry. Instead, she simply picked up the

When I saw Brice's reaction, a sense of finality seemed to settle within me."Who exactly are you? Where's Violet?" Brice demanded coldly. On the surface, Indigo tried to maintain her composure, but her voice betrayed her guilt."Honey, what are you talking about? I don't understand. I'm just me. Who else could I possibly be?""Impossible! I remember clearly that you have a birthmark on your shoulder. Where is it now?" Brice's tone was icy, nothing like the calm and collected man I once knew in any situation. "Right here, on this spot! You always had a birthmark here!"As he spoke, he moved forward again to pull at Indigo's clothes.Indigo forcefully shook off his hand. "You're mistaken. I've never had a birthmark here. Stop this. Don't you have other more important things to do? I won't disturb you anymore."With that, Indigo quickly turned and hurried away."Could I really have remembered it wrongly?" Brice muttered to himself. At the same time, Amber walked out of the bathr

Days passed. However, not only did Brice not sign the divorce papers, but he even sent a text message to Indigo."You want a divorce? Dream on!"I was becoming more and more confused. After all, wasn't he the one who wanted to divorce me the most after Amber returned from abroad? In fact, in all our previous fights, he would scold me for being unreasonable and would try every possible way to divorce me.Back then, my refusal would send him into fits of fury. Yet now, with Indigo accepting on my behalf, he was the one backing out.Unable to wait any longer, Indigo went to find Brice with the divorce papers in hand.To persuade him to agree to the divorce, she specially prepared a feast of his favorite dishes and had it delivered to his office. There, on Brice's desk, lay the homemade spread. The office was filled with the delightful aroma of the food, and the colorful presentation was enough to whet anyone's appetite."You must be starving. Go wash your hands and come eat," Indi

That very day, Indigo and Brice went to the courthouse to file the divorce. After that, Brice handed over matters regarding the division of assets to his lawyer, who would handle everything with Indigo directly. One might have called Brice a scumbag in relationships, but when it came to money, he was surprisingly generous. He converted his real estate, luxury cars, and even company shares into cash—a total of 50 million dollars—and transferred it all into Indigo's account.Indigo was overjoyed to receive the money, so much so that she even came to the morgue to thank me."Violet, you really were the best sister anyone could ever have. Even in death, you've helped me earn so much money."I could only look at her in deadpan disbelief. But to my astonishment, I realized my soul could now move freely as I wished. In other words, I was no longer confined to staying by Indigo's side at all times.Once freed from that restriction, I thought it over and decided to go find Brice. I wasn

Brice was a man who got things done quickly. Since he promised Amber that he would marry her, he certainly wouldn't keep her waiting. They decided to hold the wedding in just two weeks, and the ceremony took place at the largest hotel in Seahaven. It was even more extravagant than when Brice married me back then.Brice had been somewhat distracted since morning. Finally, as the wedding began, the atmosphere was filled with joy under the host's guidance. At the moment, Brice and Amber were to exchange rings, right after the officiant asked, "Do you take this man to be your husband?" However, a commotion suddenly broke out by the door. This shattered the peace, and everyone turned their head to look.Several thugs with hair dyed in various colors and tattoos covering their arms and chest stood there.Completely unfazed by the crowd's stares, they walked forward and roughly shoved aside the host who tried to stop and reason with them. The man in the lead grabbed Brice by the coll

After leaving the hotel, Brice went straight to the police station."I want to report a case! My wife, no— my ex-wife is missing."The police took on the case immediately.Brice spent a full two hours giving his statement at the station.Strangely, all the details about me—whether he had willfully ignored them before or simply forgotten them—now came rushing back to him.Afraid of missing even the slightest clue, he recounted everything to the police down to the smallest detail. As I listened to him recount our past and everything we had been through together, I felt not the faintest ripple of emotion stir within me.After leaving the police station, Brice returned to his company immediately. He mobilized every connection and resource he had and even hired a private investigator to look into Indigo, the money-obsessed woman he had been living with all this time.A day later, he learned from my parents that I had a twin sister named Indigo. At the same time, the police called h

Without a word, Brice booked the earliest flight available and headed straight for the address he had been given.Indigo was at a bar, enjoying herself, when Brice suddenly appeared. She looked genuinely startled.Brice got straight to the point. "Where's Violet?"Still unaware that he knew the truth already, Indigo kept up the act. "I have no idea what you're talking about!"Brice had no patience for games. He laid out everything he had uncovered over the past days—the twin sister, the fact that I hadn't seen our parents in a while, my recent strange behavior, and the debt collectors who had shown up.Under his relentless questioning, Indigo finally realized that Brice already knew everything.Brice had said all he knew by now. When Indigo remained silent, he wrapped his hands around her throat tightly."I'll ask one more time. Where. Is. Violet?"Indigo struggled to breathe and forced out the words. "S-She's… d-dead."Brice's hand suddenly went slack, allowing Indigo to gasp

Chapter 10

Brice returned to Seahaven with Indigo. He wanted to see me one last time. But instead of that happening, he ran into Amber. After taking those intimate photos of Amber with another man, Brice had sent them straight to her. When she saw them, she panicked and wanted to explain things to him. But he had already left the country. Now, she finally got to see him again."Brice, please let me explain," Amber pleaded. "That man forced me into it. My true love has always been you. I've already terminated the pregnancy and cut all ties with that bastard. Brice, would you be willing to marry me again?"This time, despite putting on her most pitiful act, Brice didn't forgive her. He merely snapped icily, "Get lost!""Brice…" Amber reached for his hand, but he shoved her hand away violently."Don't ever let me see you again. Get out!"…Led by Indigo, Brice entered the morgue and stood before my body. With trembling hands, he lifted the white sheet. The moment he saw me, tears began to s
