Book 1 Chapter 1
“Amalia, 20 minutes until I need to start dinner.” My best friend, Jordan, called from the beach house. A warm ocean breeze blew my strawberry blonde hair off my shoulders as I looked out over the ocean. We had come out here a few days ago as a getaway for the both of us. The last month for us, and especially me, had been very difficult. Memorial Day weekend proved to be an eventful weekend in which many things changed for me, and not in the positive way I had hoped for the start of the summer.   As I sat out on the dock overlooking the ocean, I had contemplated everything that had transpired that weekend. The Friday before Memorial Day, I had discovered that a colleague of mine had taken 100% of the credit for a new product idea that I had developed. It wasn’t the first time that I had my ideas stolen at that company, but when someone who I believed to be a friend did it, I made the decision to leave that job and find a new one. I gave my two weeks’ notice on the spot.

Chapter 2
As soon as we stepped outside, I felt like we had walked in on a private moment. Jonathan had his hand up under Jordan’s skirt. I couldn’t help but be upset with Jordan. While we had both agreed to have fun and let loose on our trip, I had been clear that I didn’t want to have to deal with what I had just walked out on. On more than one occasion I have had to sit by while she, right in front of me, got “busy” with someone. The last straw for me happened right before we came on this trip. We had invited a few people over to my apartment to celebrate my new job. After most people left, Jordan started making out on my couch and was, no exaggeration, being eaten out on my leather couch. I was beyond pissed. Despite Jordan apologizing, I knew she only apologized because she was worried I was so mad and not sorry that she engaged in the behavior.“Seriously, Jordan! What the fuck!” I let my anger get the better of me.  I did not care i

Chapter 3
Getting ready for the day with Jake proved to be a bit more difficult than I expected. I was genuinely nervous, a feeling that I hadn’t had in quite some time when going on a date. Was this even a date? I didn’t know, and I didn’t know if I was going to ever see Jake again after I left the beach house. I hoped that we would, but I wasn’t sure if trying to do a long-distance relationship, especially when we weren’t even in a relationship, was a good idea.I silently berated myself for thinking too far ahead, for going down the rabbit hole of what ifs. I wasn’t going to worry about all of that. I was going to focus on the moment. I pulled out my bikini – a red number that covered enough to make me feel comfortable while still being a bikini. I sighed and looked back in my bag. I had packed a not so full coverage black bikini on impulse when I was packing, not intent on wearing it but feeling like I should pack it.“Fuck it,

Chapter 4
Pulling a condom out of his pocket, Jake quickly sheathed his cock. He pulled me close again and whispered, “You want to go into the room underneath the deck or do you want to stay here?”“Why not just stay here?” I responded. I didn’t care if anyone saw. All I knew was that I wanted this man’s cock buried so far inside of me I could not remember my own name. Laying the lounger out flat, Jake moved me back on to it. He hoovered over me, kissing along my jaw and shoulder before taking my nipple in to his mouth. The bright sun shined down on me, adding to the heat that was already radiating across my body.I felt Jake’s cock in between my legs, and I spread my legs wider, pulling him against me as I wrapped my legs around him. He smiled at me and pushed in gently, seeming to understand that I had never been with someone as large as him. I savored the feeling of being stretched, enjoying the pain that was immediately replace

Chapter 5
I hated starting a new job. That was probably why I stayed as long as I did at my last job. The stealing of my ideas had happened several times, even if they weren’t all as obvious as the last time that it happened. I hated having to meet new people. I hated having to prove myself when I was already an established medial research scientist with significant contributions to the cancer research field. Sitting outside human resources, waiting to process some of my new employee paperwork, I received a text. Jake: Good luck today! I know you will do amazing! Me: Thanks. I put my phone away as the HR generalist came out and assisted in finishing up the new employee paperwork. Before long, my new supervisor, the director of pharmaceutical research, had joined us and was taking me down to the floor to meet the rest of my team. It was a team of five researchers, including myself. Given my extensive background in cancer drug research, I was tasked with

Chapter 6
When my alarm went off in the morning, I didn’t even bother checking my phone. It was early – earlier than I typically get up and I had an important meeting this morning. Although only my third day, the head of research wanted to meet to review our tentative plan, especially since we had set up a meeting for a few weeks with Dr. Ochoa. Unbeknownst to me, Dr. Ochoa was apparently very elusive when it came to meeting with research teams. He apparently hadn’t entertained a pharmaceutical research team in over 10 years. Apparently, our appointment with him was the buzz around the office and my boss wanted to ensure that we met regularly until the meeting with Dr. Ochoa, starting with our early meeting today. I showered and got ready. I checked my phone quick to make sure I had no text messages from work and then threw my phone in my bag, not wanting to deal with what was there. I knew that Jake had texted me, but I wanted to get this meeting over with before I got upset by what

Thursday and Friday flew by at work. Jake and I had talked last night, but tonight I was going out with some of my co-workers after work. Jake told me he had to meet with his dad and brother before he left on Sunday, so we would be mostly unavailable tomorrow, but he promised to be responsive to text if I needed anything.Stephanie and Katrina approached my desk. “You almost done?” Stephanie asked, taking a seat in front of my office.I laughed. “Yeah, I am done. What about Brian and Martin?”“They are ready. Martin said you ‘looked too serious’ to come in and ask you if you were ready, so they sent us in to check.” Katrina remarked, and we all laughed.“My resting bitch face game is solid when I am deep in work. Don’t let my face stop you from coming in if you ever need something.” I shook my head, still laughing. I had been told before that I looked very serious when I worked. I never loo

JAKE’S POV “Please, dad, just cut all the bullshit and tell us the plan. This is the third weekend in a row when you have said you were going to lay your plan out and you haven’t done it yet.” I sighed, raking my hands over my face. “That anxious to take over for me, son?” My dad asked, taking a sip of his whisky. It was barely lunch time, pretty early for a drink, but my dad didn’t care. I shook my head at my dad. Jonathan laughed off in the corner. No, dad.” Jonathan replied. “We just need to be able to plan. There is a lot that goes into these types of changes. I don’t want to just wake up tomorrow and be told I am running everything. I would at least want to buy a new suit.” Jonathan laughs and pours himself a glass of whisky, joining dad on the couch. “Well, you better buy the suit!” He raised his glass as he replied. “At Monday’s board meeting, I will be announcing my near immediate retirement.” My brother and I looked at each other. “Ho

Chapter 9
AMALIA’S POVI wasn’t sure why I was so nervous. I hadn’t even known Jake all that long. And, while we had spent a good bit of time talking, texting, and such, it was still a fairly new relationship. Maybe that was why I was nervous. If this was a more established relationship, if I knew more about Jake, then maybe this would feel like just a visit with a boyfriend. Between the new relationship and starting the new job, it was all a bit overwhelming. But it was a good overwhelming. I felt good about all the changes. The relationship with Jake was going to be whatever it was, and I was going to roll with it. For now, it was a long-distance relationship and we would work on that.I sat on my couch, anxiously waiting for Jake to arrive. I was on my second cup of coffee, which had definitely not been a good idea, especially with the nerves that I was already feeling. The extra caffeine was just going to make me jittery. Jake had texted me 45 minutes ago t

Chapter 10
Movement on the bed startled me awake. For a moment, I forgot that there was someone in my bed. Even when I was with Dylan, he never stayed at my apartment. He said it was “too far” for him to drive, so I would stay at his place. There were clearly plenty of signs that I missed in that relationship.Once I realized who was in my bed, I sighed and put my head back down. Despite being startled awake, it was the best night sleep I had had in quite a while. It was still early, but Jake had a video conference call and I had work this morning.“What time do you need to leave?” Jake asked, rolling back towards me. He slowly moved the hair out of my eyes, placing it behind my ear.“Normally I would leave by 7, but I don’t really need to leave by 7:30. No reason to leave early when you are here.” I smiled at him. “What time is your call?”He rolled his eyes and pulled me closer to him. “8:30. It goes unti
