Cathrine (Cat) Wolfe, a single mother of twins, runs a cattle ranch in Montana that's in need of help. On her search for two ranch hands, she meets and hires Owen West and Preston Anderson, who honestly know very little to nothing about ranching. Cat takes an interest in Owen that she can't quite understand. It's more than the simple desire she had for her ex, Danny King. It’s a pull to be near him at all times, to know him and to possibly love him. Owen West and Preston Anderson are werewolves from the pack just north of Cat’s ranch called the Medicine Rock Pack. When Owen meets Cat, he is caught off guard that the possible enemy he is after for killing their patrol guards is his mate. Owen assumes that Cat doesn’t know about werewolves at all when they meet, thinking a rejection will be easy until he meets her half-wolf kids. How can Alpha Owen bring Cat into his world as his Luna if she’s not the one killing his people? Who is killing his people?

the story is decent. but sometimes the author focuses too much on what the characters are doing, and it doesn't flow well. making it hard to read. this wasn't as big a problem in her last book. maybe she needs to update less or take a break.

Chapter 1- Mondays
Cat It’s our typical Monday morning on Wolfe Ranch twenty miles outside of Baker, Montana. Baker is a small town of about two thousand people but is widely known in the world. This sleepy little town had more going for it than just the cattle industry. There were other things around here to enjoy. There are three packs of werewolves that surround my property of three hundred acres. There’s one pack to the east, one to the west and one just north of us, leaving the south open to who knows what. I could only guess that the total number of pack members for these packs would be about one thousand or more people that aren’t on our annual census. We never had problems with the packs and had dealings with one of them all my life. With all of this going on around me, how could I be negligent and not notice the strange things like the packs after living out here my whole life? By the way, my name is Cathrine but everyone just calls me Cat. I’m a twenty-five-year-old single mom t

Chapter 2- New Hands
Owen My Beta, Preston, and I had gone to the feed store this morning in search of Cat Wolfe, the woman that owned the three hundred acre property below ours. All ranches needed feed so if I was lucky we would catch her here in town this morning. Several of my patrol guards had come up dead in recent weeks and I needed to know if it was her killing my pack members. I had already contacted the other two packs in the area to make sure it wasn’t one of them trying to start a fight. The other two packs said that they had members that were either dead or missing, so the last person to talk to was this human that lived right in the middle of all of our territories. The guy at the feed store, Oscar, told us to find her at the general store and that we had just missed her. I was pleased that we were in town at the same time as her. Oscar also informed us that she was looking for ranch hands. I didn’t care that she was looking for workers. I needed to know if she was responsibl

Chapter 3- Her Kids
Owen   My mate already had kids without me. The knowledge of that was like a knife to my gut, having it twisted while inside me and a huge blow to my heart. Jet was in my head whining and howling loudly. I knew that I would need to let him out tonight so he could run this off. He was hurt and I could feel it deep in my bones.    We went to the stables to finish working after lunch. Cat came in and got her horse not long after that. I kept my head down and kept working, trying my best to ignore her. I heard her tell us which horses we would be using while we were here but I said nothing.    Once she left the stables and rode off, I left the stall I had been working on and leaned against the wall to think and process everything. Preston finished with his stall

Chapter 4- Andrew
Cat    The next morning, I was up before everyone and getting breakfast made. The coffee was made and I had already made my cup. I had the toast done with the eggs and the bacon was finishing when Hank walked in, followed by Preston and Owen. I took a sip of my coffee while cooking.     "Coffee is ready, everything else will be ready shortly," I said.    I didn't hear them say a word as they got their mugs and coffee, then sat down at the table. I stopped what I was doing at the stove to listen to the kids upstairs. They were finally moving around and getting ready for school. I went back to cooking and felt eyes on the back of my body. I wasn’t sure who was staring at me but I could feel it. I wanted to squirm but I kept still and finished co

Chapter 5- The EX
Cat ~One Week Later    Things have been pretty calm around here as of lately. Preston and Owen have been catching on to work here quickly and they work hard. They got a fence up around my garden for me, so it was time to put plants and seeds in the ground. I enjoyed plants and planting. I really liked working in the dirt and the simplistic sense of it all.     We had all just enjoyed our normal breakfast and the guys were all going out to start their morning chores before we would split up to check fences. I was currently in the truck with Ivy and Jacob as we waited for the bus to arrive so they could go to school. The two of them were chatterboxes this morning and all I could do was sit there and listen to them talk about kids from school. I couldn&rsquo

Chapter 6- Girls Night Out
Cat    I finished planting several rows of seeds before it was time for lunch. I went inside and washed my hands of dirt before making sandwiches for everyone. I had all four of us some thick sandwiches made by the time everyone came inside to eat. I was starving from not getting breakfast and I knew Owen and Preston could eat a lot. When everyone was in the kitchen, Hank sat down with some water and I handed everyone their plates while still standing at the counter.    “How much will you get done out there today?” Hank asked me.    “I should get everything done by the time the kids get home from school,” I said.    He nodded his head and my phone's text tone start

Chapter 7- Hangover
Cat    I slowly woke up with a groan of major discomfort. My head hurt so bad and my stomach was revolting from last night. I could feel how dry my mouth was and I grimaced while moving my tongue around in my mouth to try and wet it. It didn't work very well so I knew I needed water.   My alarm started going off next to my bed and I whined at the sound as it set off an even more painful headache than I already had. I now have a hangover after too many shots and drinking several beers on top of them last night with Amber.    I managed to muster up the energy and reached over to turn my alarm off with a groan. I moved in my bed and realized I was completely naked under the covers. I groaned even more and gently laid back to relax there in my bed for a while. I

Chapter 8- A Visitor
Cat ~A Few Days Later    It’s the end of another long and hard day of working on the ranch. I was waiting at the bus stop in my truck for the kids to arrive home. I was texting Amber as she talked about a new guy in town that was single. Apparently, she was interested in him and I told her to go for it. She had nothing to lose.    The bus came up and stopped in front of my truck. I watched as Ivy and Jacob stepped off and ran up to my truck. They climbed in as the bus left to go drop off the other kids it had.    “Hey, how many smiles did the two of you give out today?” I asked as they settled in their seats.   &nbs

Chapter 9- Dawn
Cat   It was first thing in the morning and I hadn’t really slept at all last night. When my alarm went off, I was already awake and turned it off while sighing heavily. I was sitting on the edge of my bed with my bedside light on as I looked out the window. I was just sitting there with the covers partly draped over my lap as I stared off into space. I was still thinking about last night. I stood near the window and listened to Danny, Preston and Owen argue. I had heard everything that was said. I was pissed at Danny for being such a dick but there was an even bigger emotion running through me. Uncertainty.     I had learned that I was Owen’s mate, meaning I was his Luna. He was here to originally investigate me, thinking I was the enemy, but had found something more than what he had bargained for. I had no

Chapter 10- Rodeo
Cat~Saturday Night   I was so happy that the weekend was here. It was rodeo time here in Baker, and I wanted to take the kids out to watch the events and have a good time. All of us worked hard to finish up our daily chores early so we could get ready to go out.   After our chores were done, we all cleaned up and put on nice clothes. The kids had on nice blue jeans and button-up shirts. Jacob had on his black felt cowboy hat and boots. I braided Ivy’s long black hair and put a bow in it. She pulled on her boots and a thin jacket that made her look like a little Native American kid. I had on a black dress that ended right at my knees. It was satin with a lace layer over it and I paired it with my fancy boots I only wore out and a denim jacket.
