CHAPTER 1: Ugly not!

Vanessa's POV

I woke up greeted with kisses and hugs from my loving parents.

"Happy birthday sweetie," mom and dad said in unison.

"Thank you, mom and dad," I said as I hug them.

They're just ordinary werewolves in our pack and don't hold any important title.

"Here sweetie, I hope you find your mate." Mom said as she gave me a present.

"I hope you find the happiness your heart longed child," Dad said kissing me on the forehead.

I feel so grateful to have them as my parents. But they can't just make me feel whole. I feel like a part of me is missing.

"Yeah, I'll make sure of that dad," I said with a small smile.

"Now go get ready and find your mate!" my mom said excitedly.

"Thanks! Wish me luck!" I darted to the bathroom and took a bath.

I looked at the present my parents gave me. It was a very cute and elegant off-shoulder dress that goes on top of my knees. I put it on then stared at myself in the mirror.

"Wow, you're so beautiful! Mate will surely drop his jaw when he sees how gorgeous you are!" My wolf Anessa said.

"But don't you think it's better if I wear the clothes I usually wear?" I asked.

I've been wearing oversized clothes since I entered high school to avoid any trouble.

When I was in middle school I almost killed three guys who tried to molest me on my way home with just a slap each. Yeah, that's how strong I am.

I have white skin which looks elegant and delicate, pure black shiny hair, and golden-brown eyes that looks so beautiful with my long thick lashes.

"Why? You look so hideous in those clothes. What if mate rejects you?" She asked confused.

"Well, that's the point!" I said as I took off the dress.

"What do you mean Vanessa?" She sounded more confused.

"If our mate doesn't want us just because he thinks were ugly, then he doesn't deserve us!" I said.

"But we need him! We can't waste our chance. What if we meet him today, and rejects us?" She said scared of what might happen

"If he can't even accept us for looking ugly, do you think he will be able to accept how different we are from the rest?" I said trying to reason out.

"Just dress up today or I won't talk to you for a week." She said seriously.

"Okay fine! Calm down." I said while putting the dress on again.

The dress shows my long and beautiful legs and a little of my well-developed cleavage and collarbone. I put some make-up on, and put my hair down that reaches my butt. 

I looked into the mirror satisfied with how gorgeous I look. And with that, I went to school.

When I reached the school gate everyone stared at me shocked. They used to look at me with mocking eyes in those oversized clothes and haggard-looking makeup I always wear.

Before I can even enter the school gate I caught a very sweet, calming, and intoxicating smell.

'mate!'

'mate!' my wolf said as she keeps on jumping happily in my head.

I followed the scent and it leads me to a corner where the scent is stronger.

I continued to take my steps when I suddenly hear a man's voice speak, and I know for sure it belongs to my mate.

"I heard she's turning seventeen today. When I see her I'll reject her right away! There's no way I'll accept a weak and ugly woman as my mate!" The man said in a disgusted tone.

I hear a woman's voice in that very corner" I better be there when you reject her, hmmm... I want to see your mates' pathetic face when that happens. Ughhh," the woman said between moans.

I continued to take my steps to that corner and the moment I know my mate can feel my presence they stopped and he chuckled."Good timing! Save's me the trouble of looking for you." He said in a boring tone.

They're still in the corner so we're still not able to see each other.

Suddenly the woman moan again and I knew they continued what they were doing knowing I was there.

I clenched my fist as I took a jacket, a cap, and a face mask to cover myself.

I then took a step forward closer to the corner" Stop there! Can't you hear? I'm busy!" My mate said angrily. 

He went out of the corner then looked straight at me mockingly. I then realized who my mate is, Alexander Moon the soon-to-be alpha of the Dark Moon pack, to which I belong.

He's known for being a playboy who treats women as playthings, he'd dump them after using them. But of course, the woman who he's with right now is the only exception.

They've been together for a month now which is very rare for him. Her name is Natalie the hottest girl in school and our pack, she's beautiful with blonde hair and a sexy body.

"Haha, are you wearing a dress with an oversized jacket? Not to mention you're also wearing a cap and a mask." She said disgust visible in her eyes.

"Do you think Alexander would think you're beautiful if you hide your face like that?" She said laughing seductively.

I didn't give a damn about what that bitch just said, instead I stared at my mate who seems to be so uninterested in my existence. 

I clenched my fist my nails digging my palm. " Can we please finish this fast? I have a class to attend!" I said trying to sound uninterested.

This caught Alexander's attention. He frowned his brows like he didn't expect me to be so calm seeing him with another woman.

"Looks like you've seen this coming! Now I wo-"   he said while I cut him off by raising my hand as a sign to make him stop.

"I Vanessa Hudgens, hereby reject you Alexander Moon as my mate!" I said as I feel pain rushed in my heart that almost made me stumble. But I tried to keep my cool and stand straight looking unaffected.

I watched as his eyes go wide with shock, the smirk on his face disappearing.

"He didn't see that coming. Serves him right! A manwhore like that don't deserve us at all." My wolf said, a pure disappointment in her tone.

The pain in my chest is making me feel weak I felt my knees are about to lose strength the longer I stay there.

He didn't say anything, he stood still dumbfounded. I saw him stumble a little, then he clenched his fist. I didn't wait for him to say whatever he wants.

Natalie was also speechless, she looked at me in pure disbelief.

I then walked away. When I was about fifteen meters away from them I stopped and looked back at them.

I slowly took off my jacket, cap, and face mask that's covering me. I took all the courage to look their way and smile at Alexander sexily.

He froze even more after he saw my appearance. Natalie gasped after she saw the real me, her face turned red with anger and embarrassment.

I flipped my hair elegantly and confidently, my eyes not leaving theirs. I saw as Alexander's face went pale when I bit my lip and wink at him. 

Both of them stood right there frozen. I turned around to leave when I decided to give them one last glance.

I smirk at them, mockery visible in my eyes. It made Alexander flinch and seeing his expression makes me feel proud and satisfied.

I then finally turned around and walked away with my head held high, walking like a queen.
