Prologue

There were a lot of theories surrounding why the Fae and Werewolves were at war. Some said it was because they were fighting over territory. Others claim it was because werewolves loved taking Fae people and eating them. It was even mentioned that both sides believed that they were the superior supernatural race and wanted to make the other bend their knees.

Whatever the reason was, the most popular theory originated before even humans began counting time.

The Moon Goddess created the werewolves, and they worshipped her by howling. All was well until some of her werewolves, a pack later named The Grave Walkers, preyed upon a sacred cattle that belonged to The Sun God.

The Sun God was furious. As he could not come down from the skies to punish the werewolves himself, he dealt with the Fae court on a nearby territory, The Carnelian Court. He would grant the entire race of Fae a portion of the sun’s power—the Light, and in return for receiving this power, they have to kill every member of The Grave Walkers.

Under the Carnelian Court, the Faes established the Crimson Cloaks, an elite group designed and trained only to hunt Werewolves. For centuries, they chased each other in hills and forests, resulting in countless dead creatures in the name of these two gods using them as pawns in their pettiness.

Until one day, amid the ongoing war, in a shocking twist of fate, the Alpha of The Grave Walkers, Hargreaves, fell in love with the only female warrior of the Crimson Cloaks, Ravenhead.

For years, they met in secret, expressed how much they hated being a part of all this, and under the stars, the two whispered how much they loved each other. They dreamed of another world where they could be together, of a normal life that they could never achieve.

When they found out that Ravenhead was pregnant, both feared for their lives and their unborn child. They eloped—left everything behind and posed as humans in the mortal world, away from everyone.

The Carnelian Court and The Grave Walkers, furious by what happened, launched an all-out war which left The Grave Walkers obliterated. It was not that long before the Faes found Ravenhead. She tried to fend them off while Hargreaves ran away with their son.

The inevitable happened, and Hargreaves was caught. He was killed on the spot. The celebrations were rampant as the blood feud between the Werewolves and Fae ended. The Crimson Cloaks returned to the Carnelian Court with the news that they had killed the offspring of Ravenhead and Hargreaves.

Or so they said…
