Chapter 10 Malice

The next morning...

The first thing Jiang Sese saw after opening her eyes was an adorable boy lying next to her.

He slept obediently and soundly in her embrace, his long lashes resting on his cheeks like a fan. His skin was enviously fair and supple.

She became filled with wonder.

She had met many children over the past five years, but never someone who felt as close to her heart and was as adorable as Xiaobao. She was even tempted to never let him go.

Such a thought tickled her. If she didn't let him go, the Jin family would likely end her.

After entertaining such a bizarre thought, she rose stealthily and went out to prepare breakfast.

To her surprise, she saw that Jin Fengchen was up and awake. The table was also filled with a bunch of breakfast food.

Porridge, Chinese pastries, Western food... It was an extravagant affair.

Jiang Sese was taken aback. "This…"

"I didn't see any restaurants in the neighborhood, so I drove out and bought some. I don't know what you like, so I bought a little of everything."

Jin Fengchen's reply was almost emotionless, but his deep voice carried a magnetism like the sound of a cello and an almost languid feeling. It was deeply attractive.

She thought her ovaries would explode from hearing such a voice. Feeling rather shocked and flattered, she said, "You're too polite. I'm not picky about what I eat."

Even so, she couldn't help mocking the whole incident in her head.

To think that the great President Jin bought her breakfast. If the public heard this, many women would probably line up to jump off a building.

Jin Fengchen looked unperturbed. "Is that so? Glad to hear that," he replied. "You should wash up. I will wake up Xiaobao."

Jiang Sese nodded in a daze and went into the bathroom.

When she came out 15 minutes later, Xiaobao was already up and lying inside his father's embrace with a reluctant look on his face.

Despite his stern face, Jin Fengchen was nonetheless patiently coaxing Xiaobao.

This scene warmed Jiang Sese's heart. She began to wonder who Xiaobao's mother was to be able to give birth to such an adorable child. How blessed she must be.

"Why isn't she with this father-and-son pair?

"Is it because the Jin family didn't want her or is there some other reason?"

Jiang Sese fell into a daze pondering these questions, and yet Xiaobao had already discovered her. Without a word, he slipped out of his father's grasp and ran up to her.

She carried him and asked with a smile, "Did you sleep well last night?"

"Yes." Xiaobao beamed at her as he laced his arms behind her neck.

Jiang Sese caressed his head. "Let's have breakfast then."

"Okay."

Xiaobao replied sweetly, and his eyes twinkled like stars as he did so. The fragrant and delicious food was swept clean by him in no time at all.

Jin Fengchen watched from afar, his gaze indescribable.

Xiaobao usually ate very little at home, even with the whole family trying to persuade him.

Now, this little thing couldn't be more obedient if he tried!

After they were done with breakfast, Jiang Sese cleared the table and got ready for work.

Jin Fengchen offered to drop her off at work as they were heading in the same direction.

When she tried to get out of the car, Xiaobao held on to her leg and refused to let go.

Jiang Sese looked at him helplessly. "Darling, I need to work, so I can't take care of you anymore. Go home with your Daddy."

Xiaobao's eyes welled up with tears. It was obvious from his expression how much he didn't want to separate from her.

She nearly gave in to that expression of his, but rationality quickly took over. She told herself that she had to harden her heart.

She had to rely on this job for her survival and her mother's hospital bills. She gave Jin Fengchen a somewhat embarrassed look. "Mr. Jin…"

Jin Fengchen carried Xiaobao calmly and told him, "Auntie needs to go to work. You can't keep her here anymore. But you can have her number and call her when she's free. We will visit her when she gets off work tonight."

Xiaobao's pitiful expression immediately turned hopeful upon hearing his father's words. He turned to look at Jiang Sese.

It was as if he was asking her if he could.

Jiang Sese couldn't resist him at all. She smiled and replied, "Of course. I will jot down my number down for you."

She lowered her head and began to fish for pen and paper in her bag.

Jin Fengchen promptly handed over his phone. "You can just save it on my phone."

Jiang Sese looked at him, briefly stunned, before making a sound of acknowledgment. She took his phone and keyed in her number.

A cheerful Xiaobao held on to the phone as if it was his treasure. "Goodbye, Auntie Sese. I will definitely call you. Promise you will answer my call!"

"I promise."

Jiang Sese flashed him a smile, bade the father-and-son pair farewell, and then entered her company building.

The moment she stepped inside her office, everyone in the Planning Department turned to stare at her. They were looking at her like she was some rare animal and it made her scalp feel numb.

"He Lin, what's up with everyone?"

Curious, she questioned a colleague that she was close with.

Without a second word, He Lin went up and hugged her arm. "Sese, explain yourself. You knew the Little Young Master of the Jin family from before, didn't you?"

Jiang Sese knew that someone would ask her such a question. She smiled and replied calmly, "Impossible. That's the Little Young Master of the Jin family, you know. I have never even seen him before."

"That's weird. Then why does he like you so much?"

"I know! He even made things difficult for our manager for your sake!"

"You probably haven't heard, right? Our GM has made you an official employee and even named you the person in charge of this project."

The rest of her colleagues also gathered around her and began babbling.

Though surprised, Jiang Sese swiftly calmed down.

She had a feeling that the company would make her an official employee, but not name her the person in charge of the project.

He Lin whispered in her ear, "Watch out, Sese. Yan Yifei looks very upset. She even argued with the GM over this yesterday."

Jiang Sese nodded. The moment she looked up, she happened to see Yan Yifei walking in.

The rest immediately scattered upon seeing her.

Yan Yifei's expression was so dark that it was almost black. With gritted teeth, she threw a pile of documents in front of Jiang Sese.

These were all proposals about Xiaobao's birthday celebration as well as reports about important information that they previously made.

Yan Yifei had been the sole supervisor of the project, but the responsibility was now given to Jiang Sese. It was only natural that she was unhappy. "Jiang Sese, you should be aware of what you're capable of and what you aren't. Taking on such a huge project as a newbie? Don't bite off more than you can chew."

Refusing to cower, Jiang Sese put on a smile and replied, "Thank you for your warning. But I don't think you need to worry about me. I'm capable of this much."

Yan Yifei's face turned even uglier. "Very well. I will keep my eyes open. I hope you don't fail and turn the company into a joke."

She left without turning around, ending the conversation in a straightforward manner.

Suddenly, Jiang Sese got a bad feeling.

This woman… Since when was she this docile?

Knowing Yan Yifei's temper, she wouldn't leave the matter be and would fight tooth and nail to get the project back.

Jiang Sese's heart tightened. Subconsciously, she began to go through the pile of documents on her desk. Instantly, she saw that some of the vital information in the documents had been tampered with and quite a few proposals were torn up.
