Chapter 12 Future Mrs. Leith

Gideon Leith turned his head and finally looked at Nell.

The small woman wearing a beige windbreaker still looked clean and fresh, but there seemed to be a faint trace of sadness in the depths of her eyes which he keenly caught.

His gaze deepened but he did not comment on it. Instead, he nodded slightly.

“Mm, a little.”

Nell forced a smile.

Men were really good at lying. With how strong the smell of alcohol was, how could it have been a little?

It was clear that he had drank a lot!

However, she had no right to and was too embarrassed to be concerned about him, so she simply pursed her lips and remained silent.

Matthew turned his head to ask her with a smile, “Ms. Jennings, where do you live?”

Nell told him the address and Matthew entered it into the navigation device before driving.

The car was filled with silence. Nell laced her fingers over her lap and leaned her head to look out of the window.

Perhaps it was because the aura of the man beside her was too powerful, but Nell felt inexplicably reserved. Her spine was pulled taut.

Gideon looked at her stiff appearance and silently lifted the corner of his lips.

“Did you come out of the Jennings residence?”

Nell was stunned and responded, “Oh, yes.”

“As far as I know, you don’t usually go back there. Why did you suddenly decide to go?”

As a woman who had slept with such a bigshot, Nell had expected that he would investigate her background, so she was not surprised that he knew about her situation.

She hesitated and did not give a direct answer.

“There were some private affairs… I had to take care of.”

“Private affairs?”

Gideon raised his brows. His handsome face seemed to wear a faint smile in the dim light. He tapped his finger by the window.

“I thought that as legal husband and wife, I should have the right to know about your private affairs.

He said this with a smile. If it were a different person, Nell would have thought that he was joking.

However, she knew that it was not a joke.

Although the corners of his mouth were lifted in a smile, his eyes were very serious. It seemed like he was warning her— It was better for her to tell him honestly instead of forcing him to personally investigate.

Nell gave a helpless wry smile and did not dare to resist. She had no choice but to tell him what happened honestly.

In her heart, she had secretly looked forward to this.

After all, it was her name printed along with his on that red book. He would probably help her if he saw his woman being bullied!

For example, immediately turning the car around and rushing back to the Jennings villa to help her vent her anger!

Unexpectedly—

“In other words, you were feeling sad about that scumbag?”

Nell Jennings. “???”

‘Big guy, isn’t your point of focus a little off?’

She smiled awkwardly. “No, I’m not sad! Who said I was sad?”

The smile on Gideon’s lips became slightly mocking.

Nell bit her lip, feeling a little guilty.

Her gaze drifted for a moment before she eventually lowered her voice and mumbled, “I’m just unsatisfied! Putting aside the fact that my boyfriend was taken away from me for no reason, I have to go along with their act and watch them show off their love. Just thinking about it makes me depressed!”

Gideon looked at the gloomy look in her eyes and pondered.

“So what are you going to do?”

He did not believe that she would obediently be a stepping stone for that pair of scumbags.

Sure enough, the frustrated woman immediately showed a sly expression.

“Well… I have my own ideas. I’m not telling you, lest you leak the secret.”

Gideon’s lips quirked up and he stopped asking questions.

“Alright then. I’ll wait to see your brilliant plan.”

The car soon arrived at Nell’s residence.

Located in a small apartment in the city center and surrounded by a circle of artificially planted greenery, Matthew pulled over by the curb and Nell got out of the car, waving at the man in the back seat.

“Mr. Leith, thank you for sending me home. Goodbye.”

Gideon paused in adjusting his sleeve cuffs and looked up at her. He corrected aloud, “You should change the way you address me, Mrs. Leith.”

Nell froze as her face grew inexplicably hot.

Out of the corner of her eyes, she caught a glimpse of Matthew smiling teasingly in the driver’s seat and shot him a glare.

Then, she replied seriously. “Didn’t you say I have three days? It hasn’t been three days yet! What’s the rush?”

Gideon thought about it before agreeing.

He had always been a man of his words. In any case, one day had already passed so there were only two days left, so there was really no need to rush.

Thinking of this, he looked at her with smiling eyes and waved. “Alright then. Goodbye, future Mrs. Leith.”

Nell. “...”

The black Rolls-Royce drove away, and Nell finally turned away and headed for her apartment.

When she opened the door, she received a call from Hannah, her assistant, saying that she had received an email from President Morton regarding an emergency meeting to be held early tomorrow morning for everyone in the top management, and reminded her not to be late.

Nell assured her and hung up the phone before opening her mailbox and seeing the email sent by Jason Morton.

Selling adult products was just a side occupation for her. Her main job was the public relations manager of an entertainment company under Morton Corporation.

The company was the first business that Thomas Morton had Jason placed in charge of. The company had been in a very bad situation at the time, and Thomas had given it to him as a test of his abilities.

Jason had been under intense pressure back then, so Nell had helped him with several cases. Her wonderful methods had made him incredibly excited.

Later on, when she returned to the country, she lost to his earnest pleading and took over the PR department of the company.

From then on, the management company called Fenghua Entertainment never encountered any major problems.

Even in the increasingly cruel and competitive environment of today’s industry, the company had made remarkable achievements. In just two years, it rapidly developed from a small company that was about to close down into a large media company that had no rivals besides Anning International.

She was not a genius and had never done anything like that before. The reason why she was able to achieve this was because of the long nights of exhaustive thinking and painstaking management.

It was because that was his company.

Yet, Jason Morton had not made their relationship public.

At that time, she only thought that it was because he did not want their relationship to affect their work, so she cooperated silently with him and never said a word.

Thus, apart from her best friend, Janet Hancock, no one else even knew that she was working at Morton Corporation.

Now that she thought about it, the reason why he did not want to disclose their relationship was most likely to ensure a way out if anything happened.

Whether a man loved you or not could be seen in situations like these.

Nell’s lips hooked in a cold smile at the thought.

She took her phone and sent a message to Thomas Morton before tossing it aside and going into the bathroom.

By the time she finished washing up, she had received a reply from Thomas.

“I’ve prepared what you want, so come over tomorrow at 10:00 am to sign it. It’ll take effect immediately after signing.”

Her slender fingers flew across the screen as she typed her reply. “Okay. Thank you, Uncle Thomas.”
